Hello,
My partner's S7500T (Australian Telstra version) went into a boot loop after an update from a game and we want to recover some files from the internal sd card.
From other threads I've tried CWM 5.0.2.8 to get to the files but when I select mount USB storage, it brings up E:Unable to write to ums lunfile. Searching on the internet, I've figured it's a partially incompatible version of CWN for the phone since there isn't one available normally.
Is there any way we can get the files? Thankyou for any help.

USB Storage is not supported on Ace plus.
You can recover files using ADB (Don't know if it works in CWM), or flash Stock ROM.

This sort of happened to me before. try downloading and installing the file attached. It should do the trick. N.B- You need to have root access.
ok thanks. I have root access (i think, fairly new to all this, apologies).
How do I run the file??
Thanks.
sorry to be a pain

Boot your phone (make sure the file is on your phone), then simply select the file and follow the onscreen instructions. After that, select it's icon in the menu and choose to allow it to automatically operate when USB is connected. Then just allow root access and you're good to go. Try your rom flashing again and it should be successful.
hey
thanks for your help, but I currently have no ROM / OS installed on the phone, so can only boot into recovery / fastboot etc.
not into android os.

Since you can boot into recovery and access your phone from your computer, then just flash the stock windows mobile rom to your phone. I think that would work and it does make sense. If it does work then you can continue doing what you want after you have done it.
Do you mean flash it via fastboot? I'm sturuggling to get files across from my pc... sorry to be a pain...
I can access the SD card to drag files in recovery. but cant isntall from the sd on my phone.
tried flashing files direct to phone with fastboot but coundt. probably just got it wrong. gahhh.

I've tried to install every possibile recovey for xoom , I've always get follow error:
E:Can't mount /cahce/
E:Can't mount /system
E:Can't open /sdcard
....
The only way to have a working recovey is to install it from rom manager, it installs v4.0.0.4 , and works... any help to understand why i get this error and how to fix it?
this way i've to root device to install a recovey .
The CWM Recovery installed by Rom Manager isn't really for the Xoom and doesn't recognize the external micro sdcard. You cannot flash successfully from internal "sdcard" using that recovery version. There's a Tearm Rogue recovery that uses v4.0.0.4, but it is modified and I think you have to flash it via external sdcard which means you need the R4c CWM version 3.2.0.0 developed by solarnz specifically for the Xoom.

I've tried to install 3.2.0.0 developed by solarnz, i get that error, I've looked around my xoom but I can't found out any hole that could host a micro sd? where would it be? is it possible I don't have it ? my xoom is europe, wi-fi,3g,32 gb
I've flashed kernels or restored previous backup, on internal "sdcard", with this recovery(4.0.0.4) and worked well,by the way.
Do you have the original Xoom? If so, then look on the top edge and you will see a rubbery plastic cover that can be lifted right off. don't lose it. Under that cover is the micro sdcard slot. It's to the left, toward the screen. You need the sdcard mounted in the slot in order to flash the recovery file successfully. Be careful not to drop the card into the larger space... it just will click into its little slot but take it easy the first time.
I've found it, is in simcard slot just above it... impossibile to see... now all work well.
thanks a lot.
You're very welcome. I'm glad you got it working.

So mine is doing the same thing with nightly build 36 of EOS. I can't install gapps or anything else...
Hi: I'm a noob and need help. I searched and found this thread.
Just bought a second hand Xoom WiFi with a 4.0.3 that was installed by the seller's friend.
I got home and connected to my WiFi and noticed an update to your system notice and I realised that it was an update to 4.0.4, an OTA update. Very happy.
However when the Xoom went into the discovery mode, I got the error messages that this thread starter mentioned. So, I'm still in 4.0.3 and I'm wondering what might have the previous 'updater' did to update the Xoom from 3.2 to 4.0.3 and how that is causing the error message.
If any one can help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
Hi everyone,
I have a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (P3100) and I have rooted it and installed CWM so I could install the latest CM release. But when I try to install the CM zip file, it says "some symlinks failed". Now my tablet won't boot, the splash screen with "Samsung Galaxy Tab 2" keeps on forever. But I still have access to CWM and the Download mode so I think everything's not lost yet
Here are the exact steps I did:
- Uploaded the CM image (cm-10-20121213-NIGHTLY-p3100.zip), the gapps zip and the root zip to the tablet.
- Installed heimdall on my computer, with the correct drivers.
- Flashed CWM on the tablet.
- Installed the root zip on the tablet using CWM.
- Booted the tablet again just to make sure rooting was enabled (yes, it was).
- Opened CWM again, wiped data, wiped cache.
- Installed CM image:
--- Error: some symlinks failed (status 7)
- Installed the gapps zip file (worked)
- Formatted /system
- Installed CM image:
--- Same error: some symlinks failed (status 7)
I wanted to try another CM images, maybe that one is broken, I don't know, but now I cannot upload more files to the tabled internal SD card. I can't mount it anymore on my computer because the tablet won't boot. I tried using an external SD card (from another Android phone I have) but CWM says "Cannot mount /external_sd" when I try to mount it.
Can anyone help me? I want to flash the latest CM on my tablet.
Thanks!
This seems to me like either a broken recovery or maybe a corrupt download. What version of CM are you trying to flash? Also, what version of CWM are you using and where did you find it?
Posted from my Fascinate using XDA Premium
Yeah, I also think the download was corrupt. I tried flashing cm-10-20121213-NIGHTLY-p3100.zip (the latest one on the day I flashed) and my CWM version is 6.0.1.1. I downloaded it from ClockworkMod official website, they say that is the latest version for my tablet model.
I believe CWM is working and that the image is corrupt, but I can't find a way to flash another CM image because I don't know how to put another file inside the tablet, or how to flash an image from my computer to the tablet. Can I use something like heimdall to flash a CM to my tablet? Can I upload an image to the tablet so I can use CWM to install it? "adb push" doesn't work, it doesn't detect my device in CWM mode. Do I need some working/stock Android image on the tablet so I can flash CM over? Or it will work no matter what's installed (given that the download is not corrupt)?
Thanks!

Please tell me you made a backup after rooting and before modding?
If you didn't (which it sounds like), BAD CRISTIAN!!! But this will make you learn to do it from now on, huh?
Which leaves you only two options, both include using a computer to get a ROM zip to the tab...
1- connect tab to computer in recovery with usb cable and download a new copy to SD card via computer.
2 - remove SD card from tab, place in computer card reader, and download a new copy to SD card via computer.

How exactly do I download a new copy of the image to the SD card? When I plug the tablet to the computer, I can't access its files. It used to show me the files when the Android system booted, but on Recovery mode it won't display them, the filesystem isn't mounted. Should I do anything special? Should I use another CWM version?

I tried that, but it seems I cannot mount the external SD card using CWM. When I hit "Mount external SD Card", it says "Cannot mount /external_sd". The SD card works fine though, I use it on another phone and on my computer... Is this a CWM problem? =/
Thanks!

Pull the ext sd card out of the tab and put it into a card reader on a computer using the adapter the micro sd card [should have] come with.

Possibly... However if you can mount your internal sd card, you should be able to place the zip on there. I don't usually suggest using internal, but if that's what you gotta do....
I found out why I couldn't mount my external SD card with CWM: I had to format it with FAT32! I don't know what filesystem there was before, the SD card I have was used by an old Éclair phone. I still couldn't install others CM 10 images (I really don't know why), but I managed to install CM 9 and the brand new CM 10.1.
Thanks, guys! =)

Awsome. Thank you for providing your solution!!
Upon trying to update my TF101 device to Jelly Bean using this guide (wiki.cyanogenmod.org/index.php?title=Install_CM_for_tf101), at the 6th step of Installing CyanogenMod from recovery (i.e., Select install zip from sdcard) the tab says it's unable to mount the SD card.
The exact error is: E: unable to mount /sdcard/
I have CWM v6.0.1.3 installed.
Now, I'm stuck with a TF101 that isn't detectable via USB (or APX for that matter) running ClockWorkMod without root. What do I do? I'd like to upgrade to JellyBean but if that's an issue, I do not mind sticking with ICS.
Bear in mind that I'm completely new at this and I might need a step-by-step guide.
P.S. - I can't post links. Sorry.
If you boot to ICS and enable USB Debugging in Settings - Developer Options, is your device visible from the PC?
If yes, then I would try using PERI to root and install CWM.
If not, then I would try installing the Hybrid Touch 6.0.1.2 of this recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1855686 Download the file in ICS, place it in the /sdcard/, flash from Recovery and see if it will let you. If you can see your microSD from recovery put it there. Then reboot and you should have a working recovery.
I have seen quite a few people try to use that wiki 6.0.1.3 and have no luck with mounting the /sdcard/

No such luck. Still not able to mount the /sdcard/ and it doesn't seem to recognise the microSD as far as I can see.
Might be a bad USB cable. I have seen a few users (myself included) where my cable would charge, and be recognized by the PC but it would not do APX or ADB. New cable fixed it for me, and most others.

It was working till right after I fell into this rut.
I used mine for ADB, 3 days later I tried it again and no dice. Thought it was the ROM I was on, tried another one, still no dice. Flashed back to stock rooted, still nothing.

Okay, done. I shall let you know in a couple of days.
Ordered a new cable online.
I'm trying to recover some important photos that were deleted by mistake on a friend's Galaxy Note 10.1 (N8013) that is running JB. I installed the newest TWRP because I saw some others say they were able to mount the internal SD as UMS. If I disable MTP in TWRP the file recovery applications see nothing. Is there another way to go about this? I've seen someone else saying he was able to do it using dd to do a low level backup of the internal SD, but details are scarce. I don't want to load a different ROM since that would probably wipe out everything I am trying to recover.
Thanks for any advice!
