[Completed] A quick greeting and on to my question... - XDA Assist

Ladies and gentlemen,
I would like to say hello first.... although I have lurked a few times, I am completely incompetent when it comes to the modifying of devices. So be patient.
My question,
I am a little confused regarding the different options regarding the rooting methods of my device, and the concerns surrounding knox. (1) Am I correct that most of the work being done on different methods is based on knox and due to not wanting to void the warranty? (2) And if a person was not concerned with the warranty what would be the most straight forward method for a root? (3) I also see a lot of effort being put into the tethering and wifi calling options, I have free tethering and wfc with my data plan....and would assume others do as well with tmo..... so am I correct in assuming that rooting somehow affects this feature?
Thank you in advance

Hi,
It would be best to ask the experts who own your device about this. Here is where to ask,
> T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II > T-Mobile Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Use a more to the point thread title for better attention. ?
Good luck!

[Completed] [Help] Knox vs SquareTrade ?

Good Afternoon,
I was looking into purchasing SquareTrade 2 year warranty on the Note 4 when it comes out because I would definitely want to root it and maybe get some custom ROM's. I was not sure of Square trade’s policy however. My question is If the device gets damaged in a fall or lets says the headphone port stops working will they forward me to Samsung if I’m within the 1 year manufactures warranty ? Samsung will most likely check to see if Knox is tripped and deny service to the device. I do not want to purchase SquareTrade if they are just going to forward me to Samsung.
Any One have any Clues ?

[Completed] Help a noobie please

Hello. Thanks for taking the time to look at this post.
I have been reading up on how to root my S6 Edge UK model SM-G925F. I must admit I have read to much on this I am completely lost and just need a pointer to a safe way to do so. I am a newish android user coming from iPhone and being used to jailbreak only.
I am concerned reading the issues with triggering knox and basically anything which is going to invalidate the warranty on my 3 day old S6 Edge.
Could anyone point me in the right direction and I really am sorry due to understanding this ha's been discussed in many threads.
Much appreciated. Mike.

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
The Knox flag is generally not triggered from simply rooting the device but it depends on the rooting method you use. Fortunately, there is a friendly XDA area dedicated to the S6 Edge at http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/help. I suggest you search that forum or start a new thread with your specific concerns there where the experts familiar with your device will be able to best guide you.
Good Luck!

[Completed] Dead Display, SGS3

I have a non-rooted verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 (SCH-I535). The display slowly started dying and is totally gone now. No illumination at all. I need to retrieve my data. However, my phone is locked with a PIN. Now what? Without being able to unlock the device I can't just plug it in to my PC and copy over the files. Surely I'm not the only one this has happened to. I don't plan on repairing it unless utterly necessary.

[Completed] Newbie Help - Root Verizon Phones

Hi - I am new to this site and it's my first post. I am a newbie in RE: rooting Android devices. I have jailbroken iPhone's in the past but it seems that rooting is a bit more involved. Long story short, I have a lot of mobile electronics that require a rooted Android device now and I am at a loss as far as what to get and how to root. I have a few out of contract phones on the Verizon network but none are Android. I need a newer phone that has the Miracast (or cast screen) capabilities with preferably a removable battery, microSD card slot, and a microUSB connection. I went to the root section and not too many of the "newer" phones were listed. I did see the HTC 10 was listed with videos explaining all the steps and then read further in the thread to see that Verizon has somehow hidden the Bootloader (or something to that effect) and it can't be rooted at this time.
Long story short, does anyone know of a phone from Verizon that supports Miracast (or cast screen) and that can be rooted today? If not, I may have to look for an unlocked phone.
Again, I'm a newbie and unfortunately need a lot of guidance at this point but hopefully someday I will be able to assist others as I do on other forums for other things.
Any help or direction would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks. I could offer a specific device (LG V10 for example) but don't see any info regarding rooting that model (unless it's too new). Ok, I'll ask over in the other forum.
Thanks again.

[Completed] Best apps to have downloaded when disconnection of my WiFi is imminent?

I feel so green here. I have a Samsung Galaxy S5, 6.0.1.. I love phones and apps and the net. I like to absorb as much as I can while tending to a big family and life lol.
My WiFi is going to be off for about a week. I am curious what apps or downloads would help me navigate through this upcoming lonely-without-my-WiFi or even allow me to have the ability to still be online without (no Data either)?
Also, I have not been able to root this phone yet. I'm frustrated about that in general but I assume it limits some of your suggestions.
Thanks for your help
