[Completed] [Help] Knox vs SquareTrade ? - XDA Assist

Good Afternoon,
I was looking into purchasing SquareTrade 2 year warranty on the Note 4 when it comes out because I would definitely want to root it and maybe get some custom ROM's. I was not sure of Square trade’s policy however. My question is If the device gets damaged in a fall or lets says the headphone port stops working will they forward me to Samsung if I’m within the 1 year manufactures warranty ? Samsung will most likely check to see if Knox is tripped and deny service to the device. I do not want to purchase SquareTrade if they are just going to forward me to Samsung.
Any One have any Clues ?

[Completed] [Q] Sprint Note 3 flashed to Boost Mobile ROM

Hello, i have a SM-N900P note 3 originally on sprint, now flashed to Boost Mobile. I bought it brand new. It has android version 4.4.2 and im wanting to update to Lollipop on either a official version, or unofficial....whichever more stable. I paid a person to flash it to boost and he did so remotely, ive attempted to contact him for information on his process but have not been responded to. It is rooted and has TWRP and a full nandroid back up.
Please help me, im scared to try flashing a rom then ruining the ''boost flash''.
I can attatch pictures from my About Device if safe and helpful.
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Paying someone to alter your device has left you in a position where you have a modified phone but no knowledge on how it got to that state or how to proceed. I firmly believe that if you can't take the time to learn how to do these things for yourself then you shouldn't be doing them at all. Having a modified phone, and working with a modified phone, requires a certain level of knowledge, it requires research, it requires work. Now you can see that taking the easy way initially hasn't really benefited you in the long run. Anyway, you have a lot of learning to do, Samsung phones can be especially difficult to modify due to the way that they're locked down. You're going to need to head over to the Sprint Note 3 section and start doing as much reading as you can. I can't really point to one specific thread because there's so much information that you need to take in. If you get stuck though there's a q&a section that you can ask for help in. Here's a link to the Sprint Note 3 device forum:

Lol look man, I am very familiar with flashing stock Roms and custom roms. As well as most other device modifications. I reached out for advice in hopes of hearing someone's output that may have already done this type of procedure.with that being said,if I can afford to pay someone to do what I may simply not have TIME to do,then that's my prerogative. These forums are to help people, not to write a reply that is in no way helpful. Maybe you should be the one that needs to do more reading. ☺??
P.s.
I have a Galaxy Note 3 flashed to Boost Mobile and pay only $35 a month, I'd say I was very benefited. Lmfao ???? You mad bro? ???

You came here for help and yet you LOL at the help....
Sounds like you take your device back to the carrier and stay stock but you also stated you are familiar with flashing, and yet you are "scared".
And sounds like you should be doing the reading, after all you came here to ask, vice searching and reading for yourself. Nevertheless
Good Luck and Thread Closed.

Hello,
timmaaa pointed you in the right direction, and as he suggested you will get more help posting your question in the device specific forum.
XDA Assist is not a "Support" forum it is to guide new users to areas they can find the help they need.
Please post your question in the link above or the Sprint Note 3 Q&A section to get the answer/help you are looking for.

[Completed] [Q] Do any other phones have a warranty bit/KNOX-like warranty void features?

XDA,
I'm in the market for a new phone and will be rooting/flashing a custom ROM. I apologize if this has been answered already, but I've searched and cannot find it. Do any other phones have a warranty bit/KNOX-like warranty void features like Samsung devices? I like Galaxy, but will never get another one because of their ridiculous warranty voiding bit. I've thought about going the Nexus 5/6 route, but am not a huge fan of the phone's size and hardware. Is there a consensus among XDA as the best phone to get regarding simplicity of rooting/flashing? Thanks for the help.
Thank you for using XDA Assist. Google devices are generally the easiest to mess with. What I do when looking for a new phone is pick some I'm interested in and then spend some time in the device's forum on XDA doing some home work. It's a great way to see other users experiences and get a feel for the limitations and the amount of development for the device.

[Completed] Help a noobie please

Hello. Thanks for taking the time to look at this post.
I have been reading up on how to root my S6 Edge UK model SM-G925F. I must admit I have read to much on this I am completely lost and just need a pointer to a safe way to do so. I am a newish android user coming from iPhone and being used to jailbreak only.
I am concerned reading the issues with triggering knox and basically anything which is going to invalidate the warranty on my 3 day old S6 Edge.
Could anyone point me in the right direction and I really am sorry due to understanding this ha's been discussed in many threads.
Much appreciated. Mike.

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
The Knox flag is generally not triggered from simply rooting the device but it depends on the rooting method you use. Fortunately, there is a friendly XDA area dedicated to the S6 Edge at http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/help. I suggest you search that forum or start a new thread with your specific concerns there where the experts familiar with your device will be able to best guide you.
Good Luck!

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
We cannot provide technical support nor can other members reply to your posts here on XDA Assist. Since T-mobile devices are typically fully unlocked, whatever lock someone put on your phone is not factory or carrier related and you might be able to simply reload the proper factory firmware. Fortunately there is an XDA area dedicated to the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile which would be a good starting place. I suggest you post your question with all relevant details in the friendly Q&A forum there at http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile/help where the experts familiar with your device will be best able to guide you. I also see a number of references to that issue from a site search at http://forum.xda-developers.com/sitesearch.php?q=rent center lock which might be worth reviewing.
Good luck!

[Completed] How do I offer/create a "bounty" for a device?

I doubt that I myself have enough money to entice someone to work on my specific device, but I'm definitely willing to throw down around $100 for anyone who can help get my device rooted/work on a kernel with root protection removed/etc. Nothing fancy needed, ALL i want is for root to stick through reboot and not have to rely on temp root. Samsung Galaxy J3. Someone tell me how I can throw money at this and solve it!
You already created a similar thread here. And offering money for help is not the XDA way!
