MMS quality. Sucks - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK I searched using the app but no results.
When sending a mms the picture quality really sucks. No matter if taken from gallery or hitting the new photo and taken it fresh. Always pixelated.

That's because the search feature in the app is rubbish. Use the web page search feature or Google in future and you'll get much better results:

[Q]Voicemail App

Here in Holland we have to pay to listen to our voicemail messages.
I was wondering if there is an app that does the following:
Auto picksup after 15-20 secs, then plays a message + beep, and then records a message on your phone locally.
This would save me alot of cash.
So does anyone knows an app like this?
Thanks!
I have recently started using Tasker. It can completely (almost) automatically. It can auto answer calls, play files and record calls. It can be fiddly, but is powerful and should do what you want (and more).

Hmm, it's kind of pricy.
I would like to try if this program offers what I want before I pay this much for it
I suggest Google Voice, its great for voicemails and whole variety of other features. It also has the ability to convert you voicemails into script which you read from your home screen what using any minute's. Here's a link for a demo

Sounds great, but not available in my country yet
Google Voice is not available in your country.
Thanks for visiting Google Voice. We're not yet open for users outside the US, but are planning to expand our service to additional countries in the future.
That blows, is your phone rooted?

That has nothing todo with it, I can install Google Voice on my phone.
But I need to connect it to an gmail account, I have one but I have set all language settings to Unitaded states and I still get the message "your country is not supported"
I understand, the only other app I can think of is YouMail.

Low resolution contact pictures

Low resolution contact pictures when syncing with Facebook. This especially occurs when using a stock or cyanogen mod build. HTC sense builds have good res pics when syncing...
Any possible fix? Its bugging me and seems like a fairly simple thing that Google should fix.

Bumping once more ! I think its the problem woth sense ... the contact pics are really low res .. how do we rectify this ?
Anyone have any ideas on how this can be solved?

+1 this is quite an annoying bug. Can't find a solution yet
Lots of discussion about this in the past.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=4147
This has to be worked out by google as the contacts are synced with google server and resolution is cutdown terribly.
Wow I just checked out that link and it looks like this will never be fixed.

How hard would it be to mod the contacts app to support higher resolutions?
I manually did mine because Facebook never seems to stop running resulting in a battery killer so I freeze/unfreeze upon usage. may take awhile based on amount of contacts but no need for contact merging,no more low res photos and no more battery killing due to Fbook
I bought fbPhotoSync from the Market and used it to download high resolution photos for all of my contacts. Worked like a charm.

Contacts + "Best Contact App Ever for Android"

Just thought I'd let you folks know about Contacts+ , the contacts app I'm using on my stock now.
It is totally packed with features (chiefly, integration with social networks, WhatsApp integration and smart ordering), looks absolutely lovely, and just elevates the Android experience when using a smartphone.
As an added bonus, it pimps out your SMS and call log appearance and functionality as well.

I've tried it before. It works good with finding contact information in notes but I haven't used the apk in forever.

App Ops on Kit Kat?

So, I tried to install the permission manager app from the play store for 4.3 and it didn't work, how can we manage app permissions on 4.4?

Google have blocked access to it in 4.4 so the built-in app is no longer available.
Coming from CM10.2 I was hoping to at least be able to use this with my N5, but alas it's not so .

Wait... They removed the feature that they just added to the last version? Or they removed the old method of enabling it?

I believe they blocked the APIs used by the permissions editor which is why it crashes - but I'm struggling to find the reference I read that had this info.......
afaik they removed it completely. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47098228&postcount=2
One of the best features ever introduced to android and they remove it. Might even downgrade my N7 because of this.

I downgraded my N4 back to 4.3. Disabling app ops is terrible. Even apple has this feature: iOS alerts you if any app wants to access your contacts, or your photos, or your camera, and you have a choice to allow or not. Android 4.3 does not alert you, but at least you have the option to dig into the App Ops and revoke access to certain things. 4.4 is the first time an android upgrade dissapointed me (they destroyed the alarm app, the keyboard, the wifi indicator's activity/internet access, and App Ops).
App ops was never an official feature, so they technically didn't remove anything.

So? It's still a feature they included, with easy access, and then took away even though it was nothing but effective for the users...

I'm with you on the users defending Google like the can do no wrong, but definitely disagree about the YouTube g+ integration... They needed to clean YouTube up, and now I can see friend's comments on videos more easily and only view the comments and responses of certain people... That was a good idea..
I think Google is completely wrong by blocking this app ops function, if that's what happened here...

Does anyone know where these preferences are stored? I'm mainly concerned with whether or not changing the options will affect an OTA update. If nothing is altered in the system files I'm sure we're good to go.
Sure do love having it again!

Really silly question about versions

Hi I've seen people mention cyanogen mod 11s how do I know if I am on 11s or not? Just got this phone lol
Also I'm coming from a moto x 2014 and I'm finding this phone a bit more sluggish, don't know if that's just me though

OK thanks. Just kind of finding this phone a little sluggish at the moment lol.
I think from seeing all the great pictures taken with the camera on this phone and the fact it has option for RAW I expected amazing picture quality but at the moment my raw images look a little grainy especially if I zoom in a touch. Don't know if its just me though?
Don't get me wrong though, the camera on this phone is much better than the moto x 2014 camera

Mine isn't sluggish, I'm not running CM11S at the moment but I don't remember it being sluggish when I was. One flaw of this camera is if you don't have great lighting you're going to get pretty grainy photos.

Ah ok, well I'm coming from a moto x 2014 so this camera is a huge improvement over that poor excuse for a camera. I think I just expected pretty amazing things from RAW. Also I've seen people post night time shots on here and it looks awesome. After using the camera though, I don't see how they managed it lol

First thing you need is a tripod, then an understanding of how to use slow shutter mode.
