I have been trying out a few ROMs, and come across one I am really fond of despite the few things I like that are missing, one of these things though is the fact the Phone Off Battery Charging Animation was replaced with a Static Image.. so I can't even tell what Percentage it's on or if it's charging at all or when it is full.. I like to turn my phone off and charge it but this makes it a problem..
I'm running BrokenOS 1.4 (Official 4.4.4) on my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 . I'm also running this Kernel if that matters any. (Which also leads to a 2nd question)
My 2nd question , is that I was wondering if there is any way to disable the boot image applied by the Kernel? I love the Kernel and all but I really like the Stock Boot Image.
Attached below is the picture of the Powered Off Screen Battery, it really urks me as it just looks like a fat cigarette..

In your device specific forum, there is already a thread about changing the boot animation: Verizon Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > [Q] .qmp boot animation.
As I don't have your device, best is to ask your questions in the Verizon Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.

I know how to change the boot animation, that's already been tweaked to my preference. The Kernel overrides the boot image however which is why I've asked for help. I'll check out the Q&A Place, thanks. Anything on my battery charging animation (powered off) though?

On some Samsung devices, the battery charging animation is related to the recovery.
So flashing another (stock) recovery may change this animation.
But better ask in your device specific Q&A forum.

Is there any way possible to flash a new splash screen image on a non rooted phone or do I need to be? Thanks if anyone can help!! =)
afaik no, you have to be rooted to gain access to those files.
A google search could have answered your question
People need to read the first sticky in the forums..
Post questions/suggestions and things like that in the General section. This thread doesn't contain any progress or sort of development and if people keep doing this it will clog the development section with unnecessary post. Its like the Mods never check the Sidekick forums cause a lot of threads would be closed or removed or even further actions

You have to be rooted , rooting doesnt harm your phone .

Come in the thread it's all you need . & help .
Where would one find the Samsung boot animation and is it safe to remove? My device is rooted but I don't like seeing two boot animations when booting considering one is more than enough.

Please post all questions in the General Forum, rather than in the Development Forum.
You can find this under /system/media, it should be bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg. Just move them to .bak, so that you still have a backup of them.
If you are using @Ayoteddy's rom, the updated version doesn't have 2 boot logos, go over to his thread and flash the updated version.
Didn't know if anyone has been able to get MHL/HDMI output to work with any 4.2.2 Rom?
I've tried build.prop edits with no luck. I've only watched the phone screen rotate to landscape view, but without an image displaying on the TV. Searching the GS3 threads, I've found similar results, but most of the comments are stale (Sep'12 or Feb'13). I'm going on a business trip soon and really didn't want to go back to a 4.1.2 TW Rom.

hdmi working 4.2.2
i'm trying to post this more so people can see, or if someone wants something from my phone for debugging
I'm running liquid smooth 2.4 d2att (4.2.2) and I've got HDMI working after recovering from a soft brick. I think installing the "stock kernel" fixed it for me but my kernel Info still shows as lean kernel 3.4 which came with the ROM.
This is what I did first
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2314841
Obviously I wasn't reading nor did I understand what I was doing but I installed this
http://d-h.st/KhR
Which is clearly not meant for my d2att so I got the brick.
Did the SD card did trick on my 32gb SD card (my phones only 16gb and lol in that forum claimed you had to match SD size with internal storage for it to work, but it worked first try for me.)
I had to reflash the updated boot loader with Odin to fix the brick and then I was back to installing random stuff to fix hdmi
This is the "stock kernel" that got my HDMI working... Im still not sure this is a kernel or what happens when you install it over a different kernel but HDMI worked after installing
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1992483
I did a backup post brick and I'm not sure if I should tempt fate by trying out a different ROM with hopes I can get HDMI on them. Its sad but I'm not sure why no one cares to fix hdmi
Android 4.4.2 (German/3 Version) originally a Telstra branded phone
BASEBAND:19505XXUGNF6

Unrooted
I have been having reboot issues, not sure why. I also want to put a better ROM on hopefully, but I seem to be at the best one for my device.
I have switched batteries (to a new samsung OEM one) and having reboot issues, but these didnt begin until about a week after, so it may not be the battery, I was thinking something in the OS is stuffed, or some app is causing it, wiping it's a pain - but I figured if I did, I'd try a new rom out.
So for any of you people running GTi-9505's - what ROM should I put on to update my 4.4.2 German/3 ROM,
Also, could the battery cause the reboot.. I can't replace back to the old one until a few days when I go interstate back home,
Just really annoying, seems to happen during times of higher use (ie; GPS + Spotify via Bluetooth will cause it almost for sure)
Thanks for any advice, seems hard to find a nice ROM out there without going outside the ODIN method of just upgrading the PDA.
Hi,
You have a dedicated forum for that device, so you must start ask/read there for more relevant answers:
> Samsung Galaxy S 4 i9500, i9505, i9505G, i9506 > Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
or this general Q&A thread:

Good luck
Hey Guys,
So I recently got a S4 which I immediatly rooted from stock 4.4.4 . I flashed CWM Recovery v6.0.4.5 via odin and booted into recovery where i made a nandroid backup of the stock TouchWiz. Wiped the Cache and did a factory reset. I made sure my battery was over 80 % and then flashed Gear CM 5.0.2. Everything went smooth and I booted into the new ROM just fine. I then Charged my phone to full and suddenly the battery disacharges insanely fast. 10 Percent down from 100 within the space of 10 minutes. It then eases out and discharges around 10-20 % per hour . this leaves me with 4 hours of use with only the occasional texting.
What i Have tried
Battery Calibration - No difference
Flashing Gear CM 4.4.4 for the GT i9500 - Still crazy discharge
Disable google play services using app ops - To Prevent WakeLocks
Flashing Stock Touchwiz back to the phone from the nandroid backup - Same discharge.
Multiple Factory Resets and Cache Wipes on all used ROMS - No change
After doing all of this I most likely assumed the battery was damaged. I inspected it and it still seems to be looking fine. No Bloating of any sorts. The battery in question is Genuine Samsung and so is the charger I Have been using. I have noticed that the battery is really heated up to the touch when on charge . Really at a loss with this one. I had a Samsung Galaxy S3 before running Cynogen Mod 11 and the battery lasted for days. Any Ideas?
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist.
For future reference you can find your specific device forum here (bookmark/subscribe this):
Samsung Galaxy S 4 i9500, i9505, i9505G, i9506
Within that section you will find a dedicated q&a sub-forum:
Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
And within that q&a sub-forum you'll find a great q&a thread here:
[HELP THREAD] Galaxy S4 | Ask any question | Noob friendly.
I'd suggest you go and ask your question there, that way it'll reach people who own your device and are therefore the most suitable to offer you help.
Good luck!

Hello, and thank you for using XDA Assist!
Short answer, no.
Long answer, there has to be a lot of similarities between two devices in order for them to be capable of sharing the same firmware (or ROM). Bare minimum, they must have the same chipset and partition layout, or you will end up hard-bricked (something noone ever wants). The rest of the hardware has to be the same (or similar) too, or you will get a bootloop after installing, or less often, a feature that won't work.
The only time I have seen a ROM closely matching two devices is when two models are made by the same manufacturer, and even then, there are subtle glitches in the function of that ROM for the other device (such as auto-rotate not working).
At any rate, you can create an account, and post a thread in > Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting asking if there are any ROMs, or plans for ROMs for this device.
Hope this helps, and good luck!
