So last night my phone died and would not turn on. I've taken it all apart as I am confident with working on the g2. It only turns on if I pry on the motherboard (as to lift it up a little) but the phone itself runs perfect no matter what until I turn it off. I've tried cleaning it all with alcohol with no luck. Will still only turn on if I pry on the motherboard (left side looking at back of phone) any help is appreciated as I am stumped. Thank you
Bump. Anyone?

My Fuze got a wet.
I shook out the water
I powered it on. It came on and everything.
It reset itself.
Then I played with it for a while.
Everything seemed fine until I hit the power button. The screen turned off.
I pressed it again and it wouldn't turn on.
Nothing gets the phone back on at this stage, except taking the battery out and powering up again.
I then decided to do the bowl of rice thing and let it sit for about 7 hours.
It is still the same. If I press the power button at the top of device, it turns off.
If I press it quickly after, it turns back on but if I wait a while, lets say 3-5 seconds, it doesn't turn back on.
Also, the water damage sticker has turned light pink, like 65% of it.
any suggestions
I'm afraid there is probably no help. Even if the water dried completely before turning it back on the impurities in the water probably will cause problems.
I had one drop in some water. Powered it off, disassembled it and dried completely. I let it sit for 8 hours, reassembled it and powered it on. It worked for a couple of hours.
Luckily I had insurance on it.
oh ok
what about warranty, i am still covered
the little white box is still white but mostly pink
its kinda crazii that it turns on and everything works
its just that if i turn off the phone or it turns off automatically due to the power settings, it can't turn on.
the soft reset doesn't work and the power buttton atop the phone doesnt work either
w0w!!!
i just powered on my waater damaged 8525 from 2 yrs ago (had a tilt & fuze since) & it works!!!
b4 it would turn on but the screen wouldnt work
you would have to position it @ a certain angle in order to make anything out
it works now, besides needing to hooked up to the charger in order to load up
fuze is still sitting in a bowl of rice
any more ideas, suggestions...etc
ok, i just realizedthat the soft reset button @ da bottom doesnt function @ all
any idea on how to go about fixing this??
itsjust the screen doesnt come back on but device isnt off because the scroll wheel lights still show up
but it shouldnt because the device isnt charging
Can you warranty a device if the sticker is partially pink?
You can try the warranty, but when they see the water sticker is colored, you're likely to be charged for the cost of the phone. Water won't be covered by warranty, only insurance.
If you want to avoid replacing the phone at your cost, then about the only thing I can think of doing is pulling the battery out and cleaning it thouroughly with distilled water (in other words, another dunking). Do that 2-3 times with fresh distilled water to get rid of as many impurities from the other water as you can. Then let it dry for 24-48 hours (getting some dessicants wouldn't hurt to suck out as much water as you can). Then put a battery in and see what happens.
Odds aren't good this will improve things, but it's possible. It's more likely you'll need to get your hands on a new phone.
You could also try to find a broken fuze online, maybe eBay, but no water damage, and swap stickers.
thanks guys
do the silica packs count?
how would you go about switching the stickers?
is there a particular part i can switch from a used fuze to fix my problem?

For the sticker, just carefully take it off a different Fuze, hell maybe even a different phone as long as the sticker fits. Take off the pink one on your Fuze and glue on the new one. Should be good as new.
As for swapping parts, it would probably be too much money and trouble to do that, that'll void your warranty right there anyways and there's a chance you'll never assemble the phone back perfectly. Trust me, it has happened to me a lot when I thought I could swap parts.
I've seen a friend of mine do something with one he got wet that actually worked ... he dipped his entire phone in a bowl of rubbing alochol for a few seconds - the pulled it back out & let it dry out for about 24 hours and it's worked. Obviously take the battery out when you do that....
kinda scared about the rubbing alcohol because the phone works for the most part, just not the reset button
i have other devices so im gonna try the sticker swap for now
well the concepton the alcohol dunk is that you need alcohol that is as close to pure alcohol as possible. rubbing is great as previously mentioned. what it does is that it takes the water and vaporizes with the water. the same concept as adding wine or spirits into a soup. it makes the soup thicker and creamier because there is less water in it.. and it also can be used to fix a situation where you use too much water or something....
So I was applying my xtremeguard wet screen protector today on my TF300.
I tried to use as less water as possible, and squeezing the water out towards the edges, and collecting the residue with a microfiber towel.
About half an hour later, I turned it on, and the touch screen didnt appear to work, will it was working if I pressed like 10 times on the 1 spot, but it wasnt very responsive. Turned it off again for a little while and went to turn it back on now and it is not powering on
When I plug into charge the orange charge light does not appear on the power button, only on the dock. It appears to be completely dead...
I tried holding the power button for more than 60 seconds, still nothing.
I even took off the back to see if there was any water under there, but nothing, completely dry.
Can anyone tell me what my best plan of action is?
If I take it back to the retailer they only offer a repair since it is outside of 28 days of purchase, and even then thats likely to take weeks
Cheers guys
i guess the water somehow went inside the tablet, looks like the way asus glues the tablet with the screen (at the edges) are bad, i feel like you can easily let water go inside it. so... i know you were careful, but...
you don't see water in there, you see it's dry, well because it got dry, remember just a little water can cause electronics to die
i hope you can return it and get a new one , or maybe you could try leave it there for a few days, then try to turn it back on again
Leave charging for a couple of hours and see if it turns on, if not try to return it.
Good luck.
Op make sure the proximity sensors are not being covered by the screen protector. That's what happened to mine... then I realized they've sent me a screen protector made for the tf201 not tf300.

Hi all, it is working!
In my desperation, I removed the back cover from the device, and placed the whole tab in a casserole dish filled with rice overnight... After I came back to it and tried to switch it on, it would still not switch on.
That was it, I was at the end of my tether and was just about to put the back cover back on and take it back to the retailer for an exchange/repair. I noticed that there were a couple grains of rice underneath the gold cover on the back with the small yellow warranty sticker on it.
I shook the device from side to side to try and get the rice out (not a good idea leaving that in there if it was going back for repair) and the bloody gold cover came off, along with halfing the warranty sticker in 2 at this point I was about to cry because I knew i'd never get it repaired now.
Low and behold when the gold cover came off I noticed the connector that connects the battery to the motherboard. Curious, I unplugged it for a second and plugged it back in then tried to power the tab on.....
IT WORKED!
It may have just been a case of the battery shorted out with that little drop of water and it needed to be disconnected and reconnected before it allowed power on again to the rest of the components..
So its back together and everything is working fine now, charging and everything
thanks

Thanks for posting...in Switzerland and took my tablet out of suitcase and nothingwor
Found your fix and it worked...love the internet!!?
So like the title suggests, I have a water damaged LG G2 that won't fully work. A little back-story, I went swimming one day at the pool and while I was swimming I totally forgot my phone was still in my pocket. I was only in the water for a few minutes and realized my mistake so I quickly drove home and disassembled it. I immediately soaked it in rice for a few days but unfortunately its fried so I decided to do some tests to see if i could fix it myself. I played with it for a while, scrubbed off the corrosion, replaced the battery and the phone works now but the screen wont display an image. I put in another replacement screen but to no avail so I'm assuming it has something to do with the logic board although I'm not for sure. If anyone could shed some light on what might be the problem or help me with a solution it would be greatly appreciated :good:
thanks

Well, you seem to have already done the things I would have suggested. If you've already dropped in a replacement glass/digitizer/LCD assembly and it still isn't working, then I got nothing. I'd send it in to someone to have it fixed or get a new phone. That said, I was actually replacing that assembly myself this weekend after being dumb/inebriated and having my phone fall out of my pocket, cracking the glass and digitizer. One thing I noticed that I didn't expect is that even if everything is completely assembled, if you take off the back cover and turn the phone on, the phone will boot up and respond to touch, but the screen will not turn on. Looking more closely at the back cover, there are a few contacts on there so apparently you have to have the cover on for the screen to work. You could double check to see if there might still be some corrosion on the back cover on those contacts. That's about all I got though.
My Nexus 5 got squished such that the screen was badly cracked and the digitizer stopped working. I still like this phone, so I ordered a replacement screen+digitizer (and battery too) and tools to replace them.
Everything seemed to go fine at first. After getting the old screen out I attached the new one and I wanted to test it before putting everything back together so I set the motherboard and charger board in place and connected all the cables without screwing everything down. I turned the phone on and it worked. The screen+digitizer worked and it looked like my phone would live.
Then I screwed everything back together and it wouldn't turn on. I mean I would push the power button and nothing at all would happen. So I took the back cover off and unscrewed everything and tried again and it powered on again. So I started putting it back together one piece at a time and what I think I've narrowed it down to is that when I put on the small cover over the motherboard (iFixit calls it the midframe but I'm not sure that's right -- sorry can't post link) and screw in the top-right screw (as viewed from the back -- it's the one above the volume control) then it won't power on. I assume something is shorting out. I don't even actually have to screw in that screw. If I squeeze that corner a bit, it won't power on.
Any advice? Thanks in advance.
I think I got it. Since the front camera was near that screw I tried taking it out, then putting everything else back together and the phone worked! The front camera had fallen out during disassembly. So I watched a video on how to replace it and found out you have to stick the tab coming off the camera underneath the rubber tab attached to the frame. I did, put everything back together and it works.
Thanks for reading.
my mom dropped her phone in a toilet...quickly grabbed it out and took it apart and dried it off...she brought it to me immediately and i dismantled the phone,..used alcohol to clean off the entire motherboard, let it sit to dry out then turned it back on...the phone worked fine, I even made a call. Once I was done I plugged the phone in to charge for her and after about a half an hour i checked the phone and it was off...so i turned it back on. It stayed on about ten minutes...now it absolutely won't power on at all.... what did i do wrong in trying to save it? I thought I had everything covered...it wasn't hardly wet at all when i took it apart....oh its an LG G4...
PLEASE help....
Thank you!

Hi...Thank you for your post.
#1-when your mom dropped the phone in the toilet...was it damaged or was the screen cracked or anything...because a wet LCD could burn off and seap inside the main components.
#2-when you took the phone apart....was there any loose components from the motherboards or any water spilled on a PCB or have you noticed anything weird or wrong with the board.....cleaning it with alcohol was a smart idea because alcohol dries quickly but alcohol is also a solvent and you could have rubbed too hard on the board and loosen something a bit like a capacitor or a connector or anything similar.
#3-did you check the battery for any possible water damage or did you check the connectors on the battery to insure they are probably seated because some phones have clips that lock the ribbon cables in place and you might have missed one and it came loose during charging.
#4-if non of that works maybe you should consider taking it to a repair shop to atleast let a professional take a close look at it and diagnose it and that might just be the thing that the phone needed.......some TLC.
Phone was in mint condition when she dropped it... Double checked all connections... She ended up having to just upgrade her phone. Thank you for the help!
