[Q] does a stock, generic cdma rom exist? - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got got a moto g xt1031 and have started to read through various topics, but so far I have not found one. Apparently Boost is taking its sweet time updating their roms, so I was looking for a stock, unbloated rom. however I am not sure what I should be looking for.
Can a xt1031 be converted to a google play edition moto g? I think the gpe moto g is a gsm model, so it probably would not work? My searches were inconclusive.
Or is there some 'generic' or unbranded cdma aosp or stock moto rom out there that I could flash instead?

thanks but not sure if that is what i am looking for, and still leaves me with a lot of questions. unless some of those others on the list, like the XT1032 can be flashed over the xt1031? So far I have not been able to find any convert xt1031 to gpe guides... so I've no idea if that is even possible.

There are two ROMs for XT1031 in that thread. You can unlock the Bootloader (See FAQ in Q & A) and flash a custom recovery, then flash the ROM or a custom ROM if CDMA compatible.

Planning on getting the Moto G

So I am planning to get a Moto G for my wife and I am wondering which edition to get. As I understand both the stock and Google Play editions are the same price. But will there be any benefits of one over the other if I plan to install a custom ROM on it anyway? Also you can flash Google Stock images on the normal Moto G? Is that correct? And also when you buy the phone from the Motorola website you choose which version to get the Global GSM or US GSM. which version will you get if you buy it from Google?

The Google Play Moto G is XT1032 (the global gsm model). As I understand, you can easily convert the normal one from motorola (either global or US gsm) to a play edition rom if you want to. See the Mototool thread in the original development section of this forum for details on how to do so. As for custom roms, both versions (xt1034, xt1032, and xt1032 GPE) are fully supported by all roms as far as I can tell (please, I would be happy if someone would correct me if I'm wrong about that). I'm personally happy with my 16GB US version running stock kit kat with xposed framework and a number of modules.

Boost Moto G with VZW Firmware?

So I have a Boost Moto G(1031) that I unlocked the Bootloader on & put the stock Verizon Moto G(XT1028) firmware on so I can OTA on Page Plus & make Life easier later. I was wondering if any one has tried to put the Verizon CM on this device setup like this or any other Verizon Rom for that matter. If so did it work?, Brick it? Error Out? what was the result's & what Version of android were you on when you tried this? I would like to have the latest Cyanogenmod 11 for Moto G on my device but some places I see 1028 & others I see 1031 so just wondering the outcome before I try cause im sure someone has tried this already. Thanks for any info
Boost Moto G with Verizon rom
I have the Boost Moto G programmed for PagePlus also. I have installed several of the rom's, both cm and asop with no problems such as "brick" or looping as you are worried about. Each of the different rom's seem to have their own issues you probably have read about in the forums.
I'm no expert, but I think as long as you have adb and fastboot figured out and follow the guides you'll do alright.
Currently I'm using the Flashable ZIP Stock Motorola firmware in the development forum and it is working very well for me.
I'm using Android version 4.4.4
Good Luck!

Right on. Yea all custom roms seem to have their own issues whatever they may be. I'm as well on 4.4.4 stock I haven't rooted yet cause I wasn't sure if I would be able to use the Roms for a Verizon device & hadn't seen any info on it. Thanks for the info I'll get her rooted & start playing yay!!

My Moto G (1st gen) XT1031 Boost Mobile's Bootloader is 0x4113. How do I upgrade it?

I really hate how the Boost devices are way behind others. Upon researching Google and this website for days, it seems that the Boost variant Moto G doesn't have a proper Lollipop rom for working data besides certain Meticulus builds. I'm trying to test out other roms, but most of them give me a 0x4113 error. The AIO Falcon Bootloader upgrader doesn't work either since it only supports other models except the XT1028/XT1031.
My question is how do I upgrade the bootloader? If it isn't possible, then my other question is, what's the latest, best rom w/ working data for it? Most of them that I've seen are discontinued.

Are Moto G LTE versions XT1040 and XT1045 equal...?

when it comes to installing software, rooting, etc.? I'm an absolute newb about this but I'm close to buying an XT1040, but was hoping to run it on CM13 when (if) a stable version is released. Being that the XT1045 is the US model, and therefore more popular, if there are differences in software then I don't think I would be able to install CM13, right?

Moto G 2nd edition ROMS?

Hi all, one of my first posts here. I bought a Moto G 2nd (Brazilian) Edition recently, but I want to wipe the OS and put on the latest GB iteration on it. Any idea where I can find the stock ROMS for the Moto G 2nd edition? And what's the latest (best) way to root the Moto G 2nd edition? Sorry if these are rather fundamental questions but I'm a bit out of the loop with all this stuff.
TIA
Ok, so I've managed to find the stock ROMs. But I'm a bit confused about a few things:
1. I know downgrading can be a big no no, but what about flashing a ROM that is the same version? All I really want to do is replace the BR (Brazilian version) with the GB (Great Britain) version of firmware, is this easily achieved?
2. What's the best way to flash the moto? I always see a myriad of ways of flashing, either with CMD scripts or sometimes ready-to-use apps...just wondering whether or not there is a "standard go-to" way of flashing the moto?
Thanks in advance!
