I got got a moto g xt1031 and have started to read through various topics, but so far I have not found one. Apparently Boost is taking its sweet time updating their roms, so I was looking for a stock, unbloated rom. however I am not sure what I should be looking for.
Can a xt1031 be converted to a google play edition moto g? I think the gpe moto g is a gsm model, so it probably would not work? My searches were inconclusive.
Or is there some 'generic' or unbranded cdma aosp or stock moto rom out there that I could flash instead?

thanks but not sure if that is what i am looking for, and still leaves me with a lot of questions. unless some of those others on the list, like the XT1032 can be flashed over the xt1031? So far I have not been able to find any convert xt1031 to gpe guides... so I've no idea if that is even possible.
There are two ROMs for XT1031 in that thread. You can unlock the Bootloader (See FAQ in Q & A) and flash a custom recovery, then flash the ROM or a custom ROM if CDMA compatible.

I really hate how the Boost devices are way behind others. Upon researching Google and this website for days, it seems that the Boost variant Moto G doesn't have a proper Lollipop rom for working data besides certain Meticulus builds. I'm trying to test out other roms, but most of them give me a 0x4113 error. The AIO Falcon Bootloader upgrader doesn't work either since it only supports other models except the XT1028/XT1031.
My question is how do I upgrade the bootloader? If it isn't possible, then my other question is, what's the latest, best rom w/ working data for it? Most of them that I've seen are discontinued.
hi guys wondering if anyone can help? i have bought a lg g2 d802 32gb from a seller in asia on ebay and having some probs.
firstly, its not picking up 4g, i am with ee, and the d802 supports all 3 frequencies which ee use. i thought it may be a software issue, so i went to install cyanogenmod on it. the first thing i noticed which was strange is that the phone was already rooted (phone is sold as brand new) and has phils clockwork restore software on it? when i went to install the mod, it failed with a warning that the mod failed due to the phone actually being a d801!
now the imei, on the sticker on the back of phone matches the number in the hardware. and on doing a imei check online, it does state that its a d802?
confused.com!! any input would be welcome.

Hello, and thank you for using XDA Assist!
My bet is that, with root and custom recovery on it already, someone decided to use a variant firmware on the device as well, making the device "think" it's a D801 (T-Mobile model) instead of a D802 (European model).
Either that, or someone went very great lengths on changing the model number on the device (including hacking LG).
In the case of the former, you will need a stock ROM to bring yourself back to the D802 firmware. I would clear this situation (and my theory) with the device experts first, as well, as get an idea as to what the process will be. Please check out the following thread:

Hope this helps, and good luck!

thanks joel.maxuel to confuse matters, the cm12 for d802 wouldnt install, so i tried it with the d801 version and it worked.
so to confirm what your saying as im a newbie with rooting and mods etc.. if i put a stock rom back onto the d802, it would then accept cm12 specifically for a d802 and would stop the 'warning cant install this rom as this phone is a d801?'
many thanks, just trying to get clear the job to hand.

That's the theory, yes. But if everything seems to work while spoofed as a D801, I'm not sure if I see the point in bothering to switch it back. The only advantage I can see is to potentially take advantage of some cell frequencies that were previously blocked, and you may end up blocking other ones in the process.
Depends on where in the world you live. If it's North America, might as well leave things be (since the stock was for T-Mobile USA). If in Europe, you may be better off going back to D802 stock.
I hope that helps.

im in the uk, and d802 has the correct frequencies for 4g which my provider 'ee' uses which is why i specifically bought the d802. however 4g ISNT working with this 'd802' but it was working with my last d802.
upon going to install cm12 for d802, i was hoping the software change would make the 4g frequencies work as they should on a d802 e.g. 800/1800/2600.. philz clockwork mod tho just said that it cant install cm12 as the version i had d/l was for a d802 (of course - thats the phone i thought id bought!) philz clockworkmod says my phone is actually a d801, so im thinking there no wonder the 4g isnt working if thats the case!
i was unable to install cm12 rom for d802, so would a stock rom for d802 work? seeing as the error message i had with the cm12 was 'cant install this, your phone is a d801'
quite confusing i know hmmm

As it sounds like you truly have a D802, in theory an 802 stock ROM should work. Was even suggested in the other thread you posted in. Although, putting the rubber to the road, I don't know for sure how to switch stock firmware's (normally for LG you need a KDZ file and an emergency flash tool). This part is best answered by asking in the thread I linked earlier on.
Best of luck.
I have a stock unrooted Motorola nexus6 that is currently running lollipop 5.1.1 build LZY28N. I am using the AT&T straight talk sim card. I cannot get it to update to marshmallow. ive been considering unlocking the bootloader and flashing it myself, but I don't know wich build to download. from what ive gathered the LZY28N build is tmobile build. I also seen somewhere that I need to download build MRA58K. I have downloaded this build but have not proceeded because I'm not sure if it is the correct build. I want to get an official build as to not screw up my new device. I recently had a one plus one running cyanogen 12.1 and it was crashing a lot and I'm trying to prevent this from happening to this phone. anyone out there have any info for me? I know how to unlock bootloader, root, install twrp, and flash. I just need some direction as to what build to flash and have everything go as smooth as possible
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist.

Good luck!
Hi all, one of my first posts here. I bought a Moto G 2nd (Brazilian) Edition recently, but I want to wipe the OS and put on the latest GB iteration on it. Any idea where I can find the stock ROMS for the Moto G 2nd edition? And what's the latest (best) way to root the Moto G 2nd edition? Sorry if these are rather fundamental questions but I'm a bit out of the loop with all this stuff.
TIA
Ok, so I've managed to find the stock ROMs. But I'm a bit confused about a few things:
1. I know downgrading can be a big no no, but what about flashing a ROM that is the same version? All I really want to do is replace the BR (Brazilian version) with the GB (Great Britain) version of firmware, is this easily achieved?
2. What's the best way to flash the moto? I always see a myriad of ways of flashing, either with CMD scripts or sometimes ready-to-use apps...just wondering whether or not there is a "standard go-to" way of flashing the moto?
Thanks in advance!
