Try flashmode method
First turn off your device then press volume down and connect usb your device will be detected as flash mode in flash tool then click unlock ? bootloader button ? and your bootloader will be unlocked ? then remove usb power on your device and then turn off again and press volume up and connect usb then in flash tool you will see device is connected as fastboot now. Try flashing your device. If it works then enjoy your unlocked ? device.

This does not work, the bootloader button does not make any changes

Unlocking bootloader doesn't mean rooting.
After you unlock bootloader, you can flash kernel with SU in ramdisk and root.
For now, there isn't any method for locked bootloader.
Btw has anybody tried this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
It worked fine on my 2011 (ehm) device, maybe works here too.

PLEASE!!
Please find a way. I want to play Mc5 and other games with a large memory and other applications .. Make a program or something .. Only root without unlocking the bootloader!

Is anyone still working on this issue?

So if what I understood from that post is correct, I can flash a custom ROM but not a custom kernel.
Anybody knows a pre-rooted ROM for D2203?

Why sony make it that hard.
Downgrade your firmware with FlashMode and try famaroot (downgrade to lowest firmware version as possible)

[Q] How install Generic D2306 Firmware

Hello again D:<
Another question (u_u. I've never had a Xperia smartphone before, so :c).
I don't know about how install the Generic Xperia M2 4.4.2 Firmware, well, I know something, like use Flashtool for mount the FTF file into the phone. But, about the TA Backup?.
I'm kinda unpredictable, so, summarizing everything... Could you please give a tutorial about those steps that I must follow to install the 4.4.2 Generic Firmware for Xperia D2306?
Thanks for everything.

Thanks, so, I suppose will work fine the TA Backup from that link. I'll check it.
But, my Info Service from Bootloader allow or not says this: "Bootloader unlock allowed: No", so basing on that assumption, I don't think that Bootloader can be unlocked. So, I have the question about is it extremely necessary has the bootloader unlocked for flash the 4.4.2 Generic KitKat D2306 Model with Flashtool :c.
Thanks

But, the kernel is only used for people who use ClockWorkMod Recovery for install ROM or Root with Unlocked Bootloader. I don't try to install ROM (CyanogenMod, that is based on D2303 model), neither Root with Unlocked Bootloader ('Cause I can't unlock bootloader). I'm gonna use Flashtool, and other comments says nothing about Kernel and ClockWorkMod Recovery.
Thanks either way :3.

[Q] Root Without Unlocking Bootloader OR Backup ta partiton without rooting

hey guyz i went through out the forum i couldn't find a way to root my device without unlocking bootloader . if i unlock my bootloader my drm keys will be gone then i cant claim my warranty and is there any way of backing up the drm keys without rooting i just tried the TA bakup tool but it didnt work, help will be greatly appreciated :good:
There is a method that allows rooting with a locked bootloader for LTE and non-LTE variants. In Xperia E3 General, choose "Root with locked bootloader" by @nortonex if you have the LTE variant (D2203, D2206, D2243) or @mbc07's guide if you have the Non-LTE variant (D2202, D2212).

You can flash other device's kernel (for rooting) as long as the devices aren't much different (i.e. if the CPU don't burn at startup). Even M2 kernel is safe to install, it has the same chipset (though it won't even fully boot, but is rootable)

You cannot
Either downgrade to a firmware that is rootable via giefroot or unlock the bootloader and root. Please be advised that rooting via unlocking the bootloader first loses you the DRM keys.
The 'best' way to root is via downgrading. If you then plan to unlock the boot you can backup the TA partition to save your DRM keys.

[FTF][Bootloader]Open device and 18.5.C.0.19[D2203]

Hello here are the new open device bootloader with an seperated recovery partition
and the old bootloader taken from the 18.5.C.0.19 update as FTF files ready to flash with
flashtool.
You can use this if you've accidently flashed the new bootloader over an official Sony ROM
and don't want to loose all your data
D2203:
Open device BL
"Old" 18.5.C.0.19 BL
D2212:
"Old" 18.5.B.0.26 BL
Any way to obtain stock bootloader of 18.5.b.0.26
which country/phone is that?
edit: got it and gonna try it but somebody will have to test it
edit2: please report if it works

hi, first of all, i ve got a D2203 LTE . My bootloader cannot be officially unlocked. If i flash the open devices bootloader, does it mean, i get an unlocked bootloader. If so, what do i do next because i have flashed it and all i get is a black screen. P.S. i am on stock Sony Rom
the new bootloader doesn't work with sony roms,
you have to flash cyanogenmod or aosp.

No link is working, dev-host links are having issues with downloads and I've lost D2203 open bootloader file
UPDATE:
I've found D2203 new and old BL files in my old laptop, I've reuploaded them to Android File Host.
For D2212 just download stock rom from Xperifirm and flash it to get old BL working.

These files were originally uploaded by @berni987654321
Is there a way for us to know which partition from /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name is the bootloader?
So to clarify if I have a DD2203 with sony bootloader that is unlock allowed = NO, so its locked I can flash this and have a fully working unlocked bootloader that I can load cyanogenmod with?

Can't flash 7.0

I got a unlocked bootloader XZ dual 8332, download tft from Xperiafirm, and at the end of flash session i got a erro :
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]01/025/2016 17:25:54 - ERROR - Have read only 524256 byte(s) instead of 780004 byte(s)
01/025/2016 17:25:54 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted[/COLOR]
What does it's meanning ? My phone got a "update failed" when turn on now.
Do we need check some "check box" or anything before flash a tft file ?
And is anyway to relock bootloader if we want repair by Xperia Companion or update through OTA ?
Thanks.

When you flash a modified kernel with drm fix your drm is working. When you relock your bootloader your phone got factory reset itself and drm still in your phone.
Try to update via ota
After that because you are unlocked try to flash flashfire and install supersu to be rooted and searsh to drm fix file and flash it manually from any root file manager.
Another step
Uodate your unlocked phone ota update
Restart you phone
It should be working now with no drm fix
Poweroff your phone
Enter falshmode (power button + volum up) you see a purpul led
Enter adb and flash supersu sr5
It should work after flash drm manually
Try and reply please

So much wrong info here.
Firstly, once you unlock the bootloader the TA partition where the DRM keys are stored is formatted. They are gone forever. Relocking the bootloader does not bring them back. The DRM fix replicates (Not 100% fixes) the missing functions and this fix only works on rooted phones, which you cannot have with a locked bootloader.
Secondly, do not try and update OTA with an unlocked bootloader. It could brick your device.
Are there any known issues when unlocking the boot loader?
A: Yes. When you select a device, any known issues for that device will be displayed. In addition, the following generic issues have been reported:
•Some users have experienced problems when they are accepting over the air upgrades. Therefore we do not recommend users to accept over the air upgrades, after having unlocked the boot loader. For additional information, check out the XDA Forums for hints and tips from the community.

OTA 'may' work, but as I said and quoted it 'may' also brick your device. Do it at your own risk.

Everything you wrote is absolutely correct.
PC companion detects that the device is unlocked & OTA's automatically fails to install.
So apparently, relocking & updating is possible but relocking means you can no longer use the stock camera anymore.
