May i still root a Galaxy Tab 2 that its not turning off [reboot after shutdown] - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys mi galaxy tab 2 10.1 P5113 got damaged after one OTA update i cannot be turned off and when i try to do that it only ends restarting the device, may i still be capable of rooting or installing a room to a tablet whit this problem? has someone in my situation tried to do the same?

If you can go into recovery you can try a factory reset.
Power + volume up.
If you can go into download mode you can flash a rom with Odin.
Power + volume down.
Pp.

Thx I already solve that problem all I have to do was apply the ota update in recovery mode with the cache option and that was all now i am thinking in go ahead and root the device normally.

Yeah, do a data factory reset Boot into Recovery Mode by holding down Power and Volume Up buttons together until the screen turns on. When the Samsung logo appears, let go of the Power button but keep holding down the Volume Up button until the device boots into recovery. In Recovery Mode, select Wipe data/Factory reset and select Yes on next screen. Select Reboot system now to reboot the tablet

not really sure, usually a factory reset solves the problem.

Unable to boot GT-P6200 in recovery mode

Hi
I cannot get my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus (GT-P6200) to boot in recovery mode.
I tried the following:
1) Switch off the Tab.
2) Press the Power + Volume Up buttons simultaneously until I see the "Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus" screen, then release the Power button and keep pressing the Volume Up button. The tab then get's stuck on the Samsung screen, even if I release the Volume Up button. It stays on this screen indefinitely, only option is to reboot by keeping the power button pressed for 5 seconds.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks!
same issue

Same problem
any help ???
On which verison thar ur on???? have u tried to wiping data in stock recovery
??
same problem I'm having with my Samsung Gt-p6200, it just boot-loops to the "samsung galaxy tab 7.0" boot loading screen and hangs.. these happened after i flashed my firmware from stock honeycomb to jellybean(the austria firmware, i think that's been posted in this forum).
here's what happened before the problem:
-I flash the stock honeycomb firmware with the jellybean one that i found here..
-after i flashed using ODIN, the new firmware works great, i was even informed that i have free 50GB worth of dropbox space,
the file was named P6200XXMC3_P6200OXAMC3_ATO
- I have used it for a day, until the battery drains and i have to charge, but when i opened it again, it already does this "boot loop" problem
- i have tried flashing CWM with ODIN(as i've read here somewhere that it might help) and do that wipe cache and factory reset thing but that didnt help solved the problem.
hope anyone could help me, im also thinking flashing it back to it's original stock firmware but I dont have a backup of that and I dont know where to get one, I've been searching the net for two days for that stock rom but all i found are the new jellybean ones and some old ones but is uploaded to hotfile which is now deleted or locked.
I hope you guys could help me out and thanks in advance!
try flashing a new , latest firmware on odin
just try it.

Hello guys! Im also having this same issue.
*Using the same firmware that was posted here in xda because i was having trouble downloading those official jellybean firmwares
*The battery got drained
then if i charge it, it will remain in a "blank slightly illuminated screen"
* after a few munutes, the tab gets really warm.
*but if i dont charge it, it will get drained again because it keeps on turning on itself back to this time to the "galaxy tab plus screen"
I cant access recovery mode.
I can access odin mode and can flash successfully with cwm or the same firmware back but the problem still persist.
I havent tried other firmwares though.
4 days passed already and i cant figure this out
Please help
So I had this happen to me yesterday, where it rebooted randomly on me, only to freeze on the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus screen. I had custom recovery (TWRP) don't know if that matters, but I was able to access it by holding Power+UpVol but keep it held. It would freeze on the same spot but since I was still holding the keys it reboots a second time and this time it would go into recovery.
I then wipes cache and dalvik, no go. Sadly did a full wipe. Still no going past the tab plus text. So I flash MF1 official 4.1.2 firmware (I was previously on 4.1.2 UK official) still no go. Put in latest 2.8 TWRP and booted into it still with some trouble as I mentioned above. Did another wipe and it then hung on blank screen or so I thought. Took a long time to boot and after a long time, and the Android is upgrading message, by some weird chance I was on the MF1 official rom but all my apps settings everything was saved.
Working 100% now and I still don't really know what the hell happened. But if this helps anyone then all the better!
My samsung p6200 is woking almost fine but i am not able to go into the download mode when i press volume down button and power the screen is at samsung logo it stays for a while and then it restarts from there, its the stock rom that's messd up i belive any help how to go into downlod mose other way would b apriciated

Do tough have usb debugging selected in developers options
Sounds like the tab is overwriting CWM recovery with stock recovery on reboot. Flash CWM again with ODIN but this time don't check auto reboot. Once ODIN finishes and says pass, disconnect from the PC and long press the power button to shut down the tab.
Once the tab is powered off, power back on holding vol up + power and it should take you to CWM.
Note: If you long press the power button too long when ODIN is finished, your tab will basically shut off and come right back on again but it should still work.

wld definitely give it a try...

[Q] How to root when you can't get download mode? 4.2.2

Okay, I've got this Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 that's been updated with the OTA 4.2.2 update that will not turn off. I want to sell it but I don't want the new owner bugging me about it not being able to turn off. So I decided to root it and put Cyanogen Mod on it but I can't get it into download mode to flash it. I can only get it into ADB sideload from the stock recovery. Also, I can't even find the option to put it in USB debugging mode.
So my question is what's the best way to root and add CWM to this device while it's like this? I would download ROM Manager from the Playstore to start the process but I'm afraid it will brick the device. When I tried to flash the CWM zip to root it from the stock recovery I get an error saying it was unsigned or something to that affect. I've rooted many devices but this one is driving me nuts! What a screwed up update.

Are you able to reboot your tab when pressing power for some time?
Are you holding the right buttons to enter into download mode? (Holding Power + Volume-UP)
In order to enable debugging on the Tab 2, you must go to Settings>>About Tablet. Keep tapping on "Build number" then eventually the Developer Options tab will display on the left. Tap on Developer Options and you will see on the right where you can enable USB debugging mode.

Yes, it will reboot but it wont stay off. When I try to get it into dowload mode it will just quickly say "no command" and go to the the menu. Seems Im stuck on this version forever.

I have a p5113 and to get into recovery is Power + Vol down. Download mode is Power + Vol up. If you are able to get into recovery I know something that may work for you. This will install Philz Touch Recovery. I use it and it works well. Download the .zip file pertaining to your device (p5113).
- Download Philz Touch Recovery (.zip): http://d-h.st/users/philz_touch/?fld_id=16057#files
- Download SuperSU (.zip): http://download.chainfire.eu/372/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.86.zip
Copy the .zip files to your device's microSD card and flash philz touch from Recovery Mode. Reboot back into Recovery Mode and flash the SuperSU .zip file. This should root your device.
Yea bro but he is also unable to boot into recovery dont know what problem is this. But I m sure it is boot loader problem.

I was finally able to fix the problem with not being able to shut down. I finally got the device into download mode after several tries. Once I saw that I quickly opened up ODIN and flashed clockwork mod recovery. After flashing that it shut down properly afterwards. I have shut it down 5 times in a row now and it shuts down and stay shut down every time. Im totally satisfied with that! Thanx for all you guys help.
I got it into download mode by plugging in, and shutting it down until I got to the battery charging icon (will only shut down plugged in after 2 or 3 attempts). After about 30 seconds hold down the power button and the volume down button simultaneously until the warning screen comes up. The tap volume up (button closest to the power button).
