Depends what ROM and Kernel you are using and how you are mounting.

I want to use i-tunes with my nexus S.
Already installed i-tunes agent.
When I plug in the device via USB, it says "USB connected" with a green Android display however, it does not give me the option to mount.
I dragged down the USB icon on the top and tapped "USB connected", and nothing happens after.
Thoughts?
Btw, I'm running Gingerbread 2.3.4
Thanks
Up
C'mon nobody uses i-tunes? My music is all messed up with drag and drop.
Your problem has nothing to do with iTunes.
Are you using any custom firmware on your device? Rom, kernel etc?
Have you tried reinstalling your device drivers on your PC?

My suggestion would be to download mp3tag and tag all your music correctly so it then displays correctly on your phone.

I doubt it's a problem with drivers on my PC.
Not using any custom firmware, kernel etc...phone is 100% unlocked. Did not buy it off a carrier.
So when you press the USB Connected notification, you should see an android guy and a button that says mount as storage. Do you mean that you don't see this?

Exactly. I don't see the message: "Select Mount if you want to copy files between your computer and your SD card."

I would suggest you begin eliminating variables.
Try on another PC. Try with another USB cable. Try another phone on with your cable and your PC. Etc.
Also it cannot hurt to download and install PDA Net on your PC. That is the easiest way to know you have the most recent drivers from Samsung installed.
i tune's?

Give more info. What ROM you use, what OS on your PC, what software and drivers and so on. Nobody can help you without minimum info
Sent from nowhere over the air...
M on official tmous 4.1.1 unlocked bootloader rooted , pc running on win7 64 bit p.s. i could copy earlier ...but nw can't even copy a 1kb file
Try qtadb or Android commander software
from HTC One
Try a different cable?
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
Or a different usb port if you have a 3.0 usb...try a 2.0 usb instead. Also you might consider updating to latest HTC software/drivers if you didn't do that already. Check if it's working on another pc with the same cable...if it does, it's not the cable, it's the pc or HTC software or drivers
Just forgot...you said you're on stock ROM. That has an option specifying how phone connects to the pc via USB...it's in HTC Sync mode right?
Sent from nowhere over the air...
Nash...it automatically connects to Usb Debugging and MPT...and it doesn't have any other optionthn mobile network sharing

My daughters s has been doing that same thing lately tried numerous cables n same result. Also on Windows 7 64bit. Uninstalled drivers and did not help.
Ended up using airdroid to transfer files.
Rooted and running dark jelly rom btw.

Are you still able to view the SD card VIA file explorer ?
If you can view your card from the phone then you may have a bad cable or a bent pin
Is your phone still taking a charge ? if not you may have a bad port on the phone
I would try a different cable and or switch USB ports
I had the same issue and it was due to a bent pin on my cable as mentioned above.
I was transferring files with WiFi File Explorer until I bought a new cable.
I can copy from my Mobi to Pc easily...the only thing i can't do is to copy from Pc to Mobi.....

Ok i know i need to root my nexus 5 and install stickmount app for this to work, or if i'm not rooted i need to install nexus media importer and pay for it. Is there a method that my nexus 5 can recognize usb memory stick without me needing to root my device or haveing to pay for an app?

No root > Must pay
No pay > Must root
There is this app that i use to view photos and it can also manage files/folders but the interface is best suited for files. I belive it works also for unrooted phones

MTP is just horrible, it fails with the transfer everytime when I move large files and I also tried leaving the screen on. Is there any other way to transfer files or at least to fix this?
You could try via smb over wifi (a.k.a. windows shared folders) and a file manager on the phone that can connect to it

Do you have WiFi at home? You could try to use a file manager app such as Es File Explorer to send all your files over wireless.

Not entirely true. You can push/pull files to/from the device with adb, while connected via USB.

Whenever I connect my phone to the Laptop, the phone automatically goes into the USB Storage Mode which obviously removes the application installed on the SD Card. I have tried multiple options but the phone automatically goes into USB Storage. I have to manually change it to 'Charge Only' to bring Storage back onto the phone which is easy but at the same time, quite irritating. Anyone else facing the same issue and have a solution too?
I am using Honor 6 H60-L04
Hi
I facing exactly the same issue and I've tried to find an answer, but I didn't so far
It will be really great to be able to choose the way the phone connect by default.
Called support and they said..issue is with phone and to take it to support..basically.. Useless so need to find answer on my own.

Hi, I got the same issue too. Anyone has resolved this?
Click the setting you want to use, say MTP, click "don't remind me again" and the next time you plug the phone into a USB device it automatically uses the last saved setting, which in this case will be MTP.
You are not using a Huawei Phone. Are you? Unless they have fixed the issue in EMUI 3.0, this step does not work. Google and you will find the same issue all over. No matters what you do...the phone reverts to USB mass Storage after each USB disconnection.

Course I'm using a Huawei device. I'm using the H60 L04 with B380 and what I said works perfectly. I always get MTP connected once I plug the phone into my PC as I said.
Ah...380...Mine is still at 115. This is probably fixed then but I haven't received the OTA notification yet. I am in India.

This is for H60 L04 only.
Download http://d-h.st/qErv open in a file manager, extract update.app from inside it, put the file in a directory called dload on the root of the internal storage. Backup your phone onto a micro-sd card or something. Shutdown the phone and then hold all 3 buttons for 10 seconds. After a while you will have B370.
If you want B380, once B370 is installed, put this zip https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8F26Fhwop6ccjBBTnhTbzdYMWs/view in the same dload directory you made earlier and go to updates, local updates. You will be updated to B380.
Thanks! Mine is 04.

Thanks. Issue is resolved now. I am on B370. Although, I think if a Phone is Rooted, the update fails. I had to download update from :http://www.hihonor.com/en/pages/support#?view=downloads and unroot before I went to update again. First one failed!

This issue was present almost on all EMUI 2.3 rom atleast for our version (H60-L04),probably the reason for the Sd card corruption wich was famous for our device........... so i started to use card reader to copy files & till now iam doing that......... didnt experience the EMUI 3.0 though

Just updated to B370. The issue is resolved now. The ROM seems to be OK. Better memory management for sure. Rest, I will have to test and confirm.
