Hey guys I just got my one plus one two days ago. I am coming from
Nexus 5. I put mahdi ROM on because I heard on line it was one of the top ROMs.
My question is what kernel can I use to help improve battery but not loose too much
In performance.. Thanks in advance...
Best kernel for you is to find out by trying different ones. I tried both AK kernel and Franco kernel and they work good for me.

Hey guys!
I recently got a Rogers captivate (I896) and have been playing around with it lately... Currently it is running CM7... I followed these steps to put Cyanogenmod on my phone (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Captivate:_Full_Update_Guide) I've been reading up on kernels, and am pretty interested in changing the kernel... But when I checked the kernel, i had a kernel named 2.6.35.7-g8f2a88c-dirty [email protected] #1... I did some searches but it came up empty... What is this kernel?
I've been looking at Glitch, hoping that it would improve battery life...
Thanks for helping me identify!

With a few quick searches it seems that that kernel is the one that CyanogenMod uses as the stock kernel, I don't have CM7 on mine but take a look in the dev forums and you can see other kernels and read a little about the differences. Then choose the best one for you. And if it turns out it isn't the best one for you flash another.

KK, thanks... I was wondering why it was like that... Does installing roms influence kernels? It shouldn't right? When I followed the instructions it said I was installing the SpeedMod kernel...
Well, thanks for your help! Now I need to look for a different kernel... My battery life is only around a day, if i let it idle.... Thanks again!

Your welcome and hit the thanks button. As to your other question most roms will come with their custom kernel cooked in some will use the stock kernel but almost all roms will change your kernel when you flash something new. Kernels and roms are completely different things but you can't flash a ROM without a kernel. But you can flash a new kernel without flashing a new rom. Just make sure that you read read read. So that you don't end up bricking your phone.
Hello guys.
I search a kernel for my android 4.0.4 stock . What did you propose ?
I wait your anser for a best kernel.
Nexus S : 4.0.4
what you need from kernel? is speed - you need one kernel, if battery life - other, if mods - third...
I use SimpleKernel 1.20, but it has problem with voodoo-colors.
Truthfully there's no best "kernel". It all comes down to what you want from that kernel. So you should try them all and found out the right kernel for you. For example, if you want stability, simple kernel or thamalus kernel is the right one. If you want lots of mods, Air, Matr1x and Glados would be right. If you want pure performance, Trinity would be good for you.

Thx for your reply.
I search battery life, if i can, modify the CPU.
But really stable for android 4.0.4 stock.
I have download Glados Kernel,
He Work perfectly for android 4.0.4.
Another kernel i don't wan't to try it, because is not certified for 4.0.4.
I personally prefer Simple Kernel. It has BLN, which since I've had the phone, is a must have. For some reason, Voodoo Control gave me issues with my mic messing up, even with suggested fixes, so I use the one with just the BLN add on. Experimentation is the best way to find out. Been running Simple Kernel for 3 days with no reboots or FCs.
I use air kernel. On snoop and smartassv2.some reboots during the week but I think it stock 4.0.4 and not kernel related.

Thx All for your opinion !
Thank a lot for your help.
I'm using the faux kernel right now but haven't been real happy with the battery life. Which one is better for this between the Franco and the Bricked. Or which one does everyone prefer over the other. Thanks for any info

Hi,
NO Best ROM/Kernel threads...
You will need to test by yourself to see what is the best for YOU and also read the user feedback in each respective kernel thread...
There is already this thread: Kernel discussions...

If you cant get good battery life with faux, you wont get it with any other. clean up your rom/ apps. freeze those you don't need.
having said that, this type of comparison are not allowed on xda. Why? I have my opinion, you may have another and so on.

Franco
AK
Boeffla
Any of the above
I suggest Franco
There's no such thing as the best kernel. The best kernel is the one that you decide suits you and your setup after testing them yourself.
Hey all!
Currently running PN with ElementalX. Things are going fine but since the pixel has been out for a while there are a good number of Roms and Kernels to choose from. Has anyone run the ElementalX and PN combo and found a different software set worked better? What are you running now?
I found best battery life with PN and Frnaco kernel.
