Steps to go from 4.4.2 to 5.0.1? - Verizon HTC One (M8)

I've searched, and don't seem to be able to find any step by step instructions to do the upgrade.
Current S-Off and Rooted, running nV Rom(apparently no longer supported)
Can you enlighten me?
Thanks, Evo

I miss read. I assume he wanted a stock rom.

If you got as far as S-OFF rooted and a custom ROM installed, I'm not sure why you would need help installing another? In any case I TOOK THE TIME TO READ THIS FOR YOU and found the install instructions are pretty detailed and tell you everything you need in order to install.

Good luck!

Thanks. I'm not unfamiliar with custom round, been doing it since my HTC Evo.
Just saw some conflicting info on going from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4, so I wanted to verify.

Installing OTA 1.84 after custom recovery

Hey all,
I just finished installing the OTA update for my provider. I've seen lots of people advising to "flash stock recovery", but I wanted to go into depth a bit in case some one out there needed a hand like I could have used a few days ago.
(1) Grab the stock RUU for your phone and version from this thread by football. It's a 500mb download - you only really need ~8mb of this, but here you are. Thanks to everyone who is sharing their files! You can find your current version on Settings->About->Software Information->Software number. If you're on Fido (Canada), you want the Rogers version...since Rogers owns Fido.
(2) Follow the instructions from this guide on the Sensation Development board. I used claudenegm's (b) instructions with no difficulty.
(3) That guide suggests booting into the stock recovery and flashing the update. I tried to do this but with no luck, so I just booted into the system and had it update itself. After the update was done, I reflashed TWRP (the newest!) and root with Hasoon's toolkit and I'm good to go again.
Hope this helps someone.
Do you know where the jb ruu is for fido? Thanks

Thanks bro, it's there. I couldn't fix it way back when. I see the fix was in April 2013. Now back to learning how to fix a bricked one s. I did this to my girlfriend way back in January 2013, got a new phone, now that one is cracked , so she asked about this one. I knew that the Jellybean ruu would be available by now lol

Take VRBMF1 Update Before Rooting

I haven't been prompted to update to VRBMF1 yet and haven't manually updated. I am still on VRBMB1. Ready to try Beans' one click root method but not sure whether to take the update first or not. Anyone have any suggestions?
Pretty sure it'll work, it doesn't really matter if you're going to end up flashing a custom rom; but it's all preference maybe if you want the new modems just take the update.

Can you provide info if the one click method works for you. I am on VRBMF1. Never rooted before.
Just root. The newest update had signal and battery issues, along with many other issues. Verizon even pulled the OTA. Flashing a newer ROM will give you the newer features anyways, and it will be better.

It was incredibly easy. Only thing that tripped me up at first was that I didn't have the Samsung drivers installed on my PC. Since the thread didn't mention installing them I was assuming they weren't needed. You can get them here. Once I installed them and went through the steps in the thread, I was rooted and unlocked in a few seconds.
I highly recommend LiquidSmooth v2.7 if you'd like to get rid of TouchWiz.

I used the one click from Bean Town, everything went alright . I was having issues with an app just now and rebooted the phone manually... now I got the Verizon detected unauthorized software crap. Be careful. I am also on MF1, now I got to try and figure out a way out.

I too am rooted and I am seeking the answer to this question. Personally I just want the annoying window to stop attacking me. It's assaulting me all day, but it won't install the update. Has someone setup a download that I can manually force to my SG3? (I have been searching but I admit I get lost reading other posts and then I'm outta time)

What method do you use to root? I'm on the VRBMF1 build already, on Verizon. I have the S3 toolkit from mskip, but it says it can't do anything until I get the bootloader unlocked. Now I can't find any method to unlock the bootloader for this build. I feel I'm just missing something stupid, but I can't find it :crying:

Rooting the AT&T LG G2

My friend has the AT&T G2 and she received an OTA update to her phone on 2/13/14. I want to help her root her phone but I am not sure if the update she received will present any challenges. Can I still use the rooting methods that were already established before her phone received this update ?
Any help would be much appreciated.

I was literally doing the exact same thing this afternoon too. My friends phone has the newest OTA and is on firmware D80010q.
I tried the normal methods to no avail. I was able to get Superuser on the phone, however, didn't have root access. From what I've been able to come up with we have to downgrade to D80010d in order to root it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50354625&postcount=2121
I also am looking for some confirmations on what I mentioned above. Thanks!

Yep that's true. From what I have read in this forum if you have q or o then you have to downgrade to d in order to root. At least that seems to be the proven way!

Yeah its not my phone, its a girl who lives a few hours away. But if the rooting software isn't updated by the next time I see her (2 weeks or so), I'll most likely give it a shot. Post here or PM me and keep me updated on how it all goes. I found a youtube video that went through it and it doesn't seem that difficult.
Yea my friend isn't exactly close and she is likely to be deterred by any extra steps.
Does that video cover downgrading the software version back to d? If so post the link. If it's just a rooting a video I don't need it. I already rooted my Sprint G2.

[GUIDE] Trick To Root 4.3 VRUCNC1

Disclaimer: rooting your phone entails risk. You may brick it, cause it to catch fire, cause it to form the first node in the Skynet network, or otherwise render it inoperable.
Step 1: flash ML1_KERNEL.tar via ODIN.
Step 2: get saferoot from here.
direct download
Step 3: Unzip the saferoot.zip
You should have the following when done:
- a file called "install.bat"
- a file called "install.sh"
- a folder called "files"
Step 4 - Root your phone
Double click on the "install.bat" to run the root. It will root and reboot your phone. Once that's done, you're rooted!
Step 5: flash back NC1_KERNEL.tar via ODIN.
Now after you got root what to do! Check this usefull thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2653902
Thanks to:
K1mu for saferoot.

What you did to get wifi not turn on?
try flash full rom again may help you.
If you can install safestrap and flash wifi modules may this work.
I forgot to mention that I stupidly tried to use EZ-Unlock knowing full well that the bootloader wouldn't unlock. Which resulted in a hard brick. I got out of that using a debrick SD card boot luckily. I planned on flashing with Odin again but thought I would ask first. Should I flash everything or just the WiFi modules?

No problem. Be sure to read the safestrap thread carefully. Especially the part about having to flash the kernel module each and every time you flash a ROM in order to have working Wi-Fi. Here is a thread that has a list of safestrap compatible ROMs:

If I have the time will try to compile and take the modules, will download clean rom first hope my net connection still alive
could you not just flash the NC1 Kernel from the OP FIX, the one we flash back to the phone after rooting?

This root method was patched before it was even released...so if you want to keep root be sure not to take any ota/security updates until methods to gain root on newer firmware's are found...works for now but future updates will put us right back to square 1

i just did this on my new KK g2, already had 4.4.2 on it when i got it friday and i asked this question in another thread, but didnt get a response. so this method of rooting will not keep us from getting future OTAs but will more than likely loose root, is that what you are saying? and that this method may not work on say 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 (which just hit the nexus 5)?

Duties otas will probably beak root, yes.. And threes methods may not work.. But, who's saying that 4.4.3 comes to the G2, as it just saw 4.4.2.
