AppDevelopmentHelp - Android Apps and Games

Hi to all of you i am very happy to be a part in a such a nice community,my name is thanasis and i am an interaction,ui/ux designer and researcher.I am very good in designing things but as you could imagine i am not so good in developing them,so i though to ask of you guys for help!
I want to make and android app for sharing home screens, the main idea is that users will share there home screens and they will be able to see other users home screens, just that! Its easy for my to design the app with a very nice material design look, but i can't code the app.Is anyone out there who maybe interested in helping me make the app? not like a part time job but like a partner i mean this would be a side project for both of us!
Thank you very much in advance!
Also i would be very happy to help others if they have design needs!

Hi there, and thanks for the reply. The truth is i haven't searched if an app like this already exists but i think if it does nothing is stoping someone else of making an other even better by observing the possible mistakes the other app has and make an app that does more things right! Thanks again!

[APP] My first app on Android Market (NumberFun)

Greetings,
I've just published my first app on the market. So I'm trying to get a little exposure
NumberFun is a brain excercise using basic math equations. Here is a link to my blog which has a screen shot and instructions in the app's introduction post.
http://jrdevapps.blogspot.com
It's on the market for $0.99
Back in mid development stage, I posted a question about how to get debugging to work with the ViewSonic GTablet I bought using Eclipse for development. Got a lot of good tips and help, but unfortunately never was able to debug on it.
But alas, I did get the app developed and test on several devices. Works great!
Anyway, I would greatly appreciate any takers
Thanks very much in advance.
I think that your first app should be free...
Hmmmm...
That wasn't quite the response I was looking for.
But thanks for giving me a peek anyway.
You may be right, but I couldn't see putting this out there for free with the amount of time I put into it. There was quite a learning curve (unfamiliar development environment, SDK, never had a device before this, etc).
I agree, you would probably expect a first app to be something quite simple and under the above conditions, maybe not put together very well. But, if I do say so myself, I think I did an excellent job for a first try. At least no testing has had any force closings ...and I've tested the h... out of it.
Anyway, I appreciate the input.
I agree, at least for a time being. Since it is your first app you are most likely looking for feedback on what you did well, what not so well, and what to change so your next app is infinitely better right out of the box. You are more likely to get that feedback if your app is accessible. I'm not saying this because I want your app free, just trying to be helpful
Ok...I AM new to this, and maybe I should have considered that. I'm afraid I can't undo it now.
But don't let the fact of it being my first one scare you away. It really does work well.
Thanks for the advice.
Maybe you can publish a "lite" version with lesser features so that your users can get a feel of the game. I believe it might also lead to more people buying the paid version. Just a suggestion
Sent from my GT-I5801 using XDA App
You may be on to something. But, that would at the very least be a challenge to find a way to take functionality out of it.
Let me think on it
OK...It's now free on the market
I've listened to the replies about making the first app a free one. Also, Further testing with other people have given me ideas on better functionality. Consequently, I've put in several improvements and just published the free version (NumberFun Lite).
The original NumberFun has been upgraded with those improvements PLUS more!
So feel free to give it a try. If you like it, please give some feedback on the Android Market.
Thanks to all for your replies.
Has anyone tried this??
I'm just wondering if anyone from this forum has given the game a try.
I appreciated the responses I got when I first started this thread. Bitter tasting advice was given out as I was not prepared to modify the app for a free version.
But, I heeded what was being said and came out with a free version as well as a better paid version.
So now they're out there. Yes there have been 50 to 100 downloads of the free version...but I'm not getting ANY feedback besides one comment from a co-worker
I'm only asking that if you have tried NumberFun Lite, to please leave some feedback (either here or on the Android Market). And If you haven't...Why not
Not a bad game, but better graphics and sound effects would be nice
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I thinks that I will try it in my HTC desire.
Thanks for your great work.
Hey enragedpaza,
Thank you for checking it out. The feedback is priceless!
Yes, better graphics is one area I'm now exploring. I've never used OpenGl before and I'm purging through tutorials on this.
Again...your input is greatly appreciated.
tanks vey much
very tanx much!!!!!:good::good:

Droid Devoted Search Engine

Hey everyone. I'm fairly new around here and I've much enjoyed the helpful information that has been generously dished out by everyone. So I'm trying to contribute some of what I can. And I'm looking for feedback on my idea.
I've created a custom search engine through Google, and I've been collecting a few of the Droid hacking websites I've come across in my learning about my own phone (A sturdy Droid X that should soon be spinning its first ROM). I've been using the search engine lately and it's done a pretty good job at rooted out information over various sources.
So what I'm looking for is feedback on the general idea, and if anyone knows of any good sites that I've left out of my blossoming database it would be much appreciated. I've included a linked Google Doc that lists all the sites currently in the database.
The engine is hosted on my wiki and is open to the world for use.
droid-search.wikispaces.com <That's my wiki.
Very cool, I dig it.
Thanks! it went so long without reply I thought maybe I had made something worthless

[Q] Diving into the mobile app world

Hi,
Am happy to have found this forum. After spending time reading through some of the threads, it made sense for me to be part of this platform.
I believe, am here for business.
Am very optimistic about the mobile app world and am eager to connect with guys who believe they have the ability to build amazing apps, with guys who believe they have great ideas but not the push to move ahead.
Lets get along and make it big for all of us.
Looking forward to some interesting interactions..
Regards,
Pankaj

Hi Sralli,
Intentions are simple and good. I believe there is unlimited potential around us, just that most times it does not get channelized because of which great ideas get lost.
I think, if there is a good idea, I can help making it great and contribute in the execution, possibly in all ways. Likewise, if someone believes that he or she can develop anything, then, I would want to be in his friends list because, I can any day come up with a most idiotic coding idea for him to execute.
Hope, this helps..
Regards,

[APP-FR][4.0+] O'Ciney

Hey Folks !
Just to let you know that I participated on a new french app with 2 of my dev buddies called O'Ciney
App is for Movies addict (looking for a "now playing movie", some hours or movie theater nearby).
We tried to add a Movie theater mood to the app and work hard on the UX, I know it will not be useful for you guys out there but I only wanted to show you this and maybe get some feedback from the most courageous of you all
You can DL and try the app since it's on the Google Play (and it's free !)
Please give us your feelings about it and let us know how we could improve the app.

Have fun folks !
Your friend,
Pooley
I have seen the post on Frandroid this afternoon and installed it.
It looks really good.
And it works really good too.
So good that i've uninstalled Allociné ^^
That's a very good start for an app, and i wish we will get nice new features in upcoming updates !!
Thanks for your work.
Hey NeBouse
Thanks for your kind words it means a lot for us.
We have to check our todo list and we will update asap the apk on the play store.
Update is coming ^^
Thanks again and do not hesitate to share
As usual with pooley, a really nice app.
All french users should try it !!

Yep we put it here since we also have some French friends out here and also foreign folks with inquiring mind
But don't worry folks we also made a Worldwide application called Whatwhat that can be found here
Thanks a lot for your kind feedbacks hope you'll love it like we do

Unfortunately i am not french, so the app isn't all that useful to me, but i love the design. Gourgeous Visuals and cool mechanics.
If you ask me, IMDB should send you a truck full of money and ask you to build them a decent app.
The UI is really cool but the UX was not all that great. It seems you are using Allocine's API for the source of information so we have odd results at the end.
For instance I have attached suggested pictures from John Travolta's profile... WTF??? Wikipedia would be better lol
Another point is the thumbnail that hasn't been uploaded while visiting Sir Tarantino's profile.

We'd love to do it for them if only they can read this. spam them with a little message about how much you want them to upgrade their app with our skills lol.

Yep AlloCine's API.
John Travolta was part of the cast on that movie mate lol look at the upper left corner he is ..the lady (is that your point ?)
For Sir Tarantino guess it's due to the API.
Fact is we'd love to turn this app international (like imdb) but we need to plug it to a great web services (API). And it's hard to find a partner.
thanks a lot to both of you guys for your feedback.

Yes I know I mean that I expected some pictures of John Travolta himself and not film posters he did. When I want to have more details about a filmography I go to the related menu.
That's why we need to use another API since we're unfortunately kinda slave of that web service reply.
And we need to know hours of movies if it is 3D or else.
We will have to ask every movie theater that want to be on o'ciney and plug us to their info. Tricky, but not impossible

Are you a Game Of Thrones fan? Do people constantly tell you to share Game Of Throne episode with them and you have to do this so many times? What if you did it only once and people can help themselves out without bothering you.
Welcome to ShareOnWifi
Share photos, videos, music, documents and even apps with or without Wifi at no data cost.
The app can be used as simple one-to-one sharing or for group sharing.
The best part is that the sender does not have to be bothered about opening the app and sharing. People can search for other ShareOnWifi users and directly download even though the sender does not have the app open.
Similiar to DC++ softwares on desktops.

Finally! I got to try this. I'd say it's nice but needs UI/UX improvements. Though it's like any other file sharing app but still it's much much improved in case of sharing. This app gives the receiver the freedom to choose what he wants from what the sender has shared, so it's a very big plus point coz users like me want this!! Frankly, I'm in love with this feature man!! But, the problem is with connecting. Seriously! It took me around 5 minutes to figure out how to make both ends meet! But after connecting, I was like "Up-up and away!". So you just need to improve this. All-in-all, it's awesome! I'd give it 4/5 as of now.

Hey! Why there's no such app which can connect with any file sharing app and transfer data? For example, your app sharing data to users with Xender, Shareit, etc.
