Cant view files inside internal memory - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just like the title states. Pretty much when i openany file manager or file viewer app to view my files in my internal memory (ex: pictures of files i downloaded onto my download folder) they are not visable. I have uploaded pictures to aid anyone in telling me what the heck is going on and how can i fix this. I also need to mention that when i plug in my phone to my laptop or boot in recovery i AM able to view my files in that form.

[Q] soundhound_freemium.apk needed

Hi.
I'm trying to update to my ICS through OTA, but I guess I might have deleted the stock soundhound previously.
Can anyone share the stock soundhound_freemium.apk. I tried installing the soundhound free over Google Play but doesn't seems to solve the issue. I guess it still need the stock one in order for me to continue with my OTA update. thanks

i got it but it is inside my home laptop and I'm at work, thus i'll post a link for the file somewhere tonight when I am at home.
Anyway, you just need to push it to /system/app/ folder and then restart your ICS update all over again. That did the trick for me.
Easier just to flash the RUU and be done with it

tried that it wouldn't work think it maybe cos I'm flashing the same version no idea,
But with the files zipped I can use es explorer to add in the files I deleted as I know what I removed 1 apk and 6 ring tones
I too am at work till 8pm UK time
Cheers to you both
try this, see whether this works : mediafire.com/?fyi8k79lann6rkd
if failed, another thing you can do is to unpack the system.img (inside rom.zip of your unpacked RUU installer). My best guess is that the system.img should contain the Soundhound_Freemium.apk as well.
my post is still < 5, can't put outside links yet.
well got out of work early down loaded your file at work on my phone and had it in place by the time I was home thanks to es explorer, the update has got past the point where it crashes so I am hoping the loss of ring tones that I took off wont effect it.
im at about 80% done so far... fingers crossed.
thank you, your an absolute gem
EDIT: I actually downloaded it directly on my phone and when i unzip it makes a folder but I downloaded on my pc and it actually might work now so sorry for disturbing!
And thank you carbonytte you're a real hero haha

Jelly Bean - Rooted - Cannot remove system apps?!?!

Dear community,
I own a S4 an I'm on Jelly Bean (3.16.401.8). I successfully rooted it via the newest superuser apk. But when I try to remove ANY file under /system (including apps), after a reboot it is mystically restored!!! Where the hell do the files come from? I've searched the entire phone memory but couldn't find anything. Have I missed something? Removing files under ICS was no problem at all.
Thanks for your help

There is a zip file to flash in recovery called Easy_InitD_1.1.zip and then you'll get full root! I attached it for you.

[Q] Files copied back to Download do not show up

Hello,
After backing up my phone and flashing the final 5.0, I copied the files in "Download" back to my phone. Strangely I cannot see them when I open Download from apps. With a file explorer I can see them though I've downloaded some stuff and those are visible together with the copied files with a file explorer, so the path must be right.
Do I have to do some operation in order to have everything accessible from Downloads? I feel very noob...
The download app only sees files that IT downloaded. When you wipe, download app will only see new downloads. Not files already in the folder.

[Q] Switching TWRP backups between 4.4.4 and 5.0 file save problem

Just wondering if anyone knows a solution for this. I have 4.4.4 factory image flashed and backed up. Then i flashed the downloadable 5.0 ROM backed up. If i am using the 4.4.4 ROM it works fine. When I use the other backup to 5.0 i cant save files. For example from hangouts like a picture someone may have sent. Any ideas why and how to correct this? Thanks in advance.

I did it earlier, have to be rooted to see the file that's downloaded. If you're using a root explorer search for "dlpkgfile" that's the name of the newest OTA at least, I made a copy on my SD card so I could keep putting it in the right dir and avoid downloading it all over again. Since I tried all my options i'm back to unrooted, still can't upgrade from g to o.
I don't remember the exact directory, somewhere in /etc/ if I recall.

I'm having the same issue with upgrading 10G. maybe there is a way in the ota Package
EDIT:
I found this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699123 to force an update using the dlpkgfile from ota. I wonder if it could work for G4 also??
@TheJokah @ajent. Don't need to be rooted. Root Browser will be able to view the directory without root permissions. (I use it all the time to browse system partitions and files on unrooted devices). You can do a lot with Root Browser without root. You just can't make changes.
When the fota is available you will find it in /cache/fota
I have captured several OTAs for various devices this way...
EDIT: Make sure to copy the file after it downloads and before restart, otherwise the file will be deleted before you get it.
That is good info, thanks.
I'm pretty convinced flashfire installing the xposed zip does something that isn't reverted when flashing the unrooted system image. I used my limited knowledge to look at that xposed zip and it seems like only modifications are made to /system so it should be removed when flashing back unrooted image. I really don't know, but hope somebody can figure it out lol.
