Prior to upgrading to lollipop, when I received an email, the notification would briefly show the subject before just showing the mail icon. Now it just buzzes and shows the mail icon. I have my phone on my desk at work, and it was very useful to glance at it to see who the message was from and if I needed to respond quickly. Now, when it buzzes, I keep looking down at the plain mail icon. Is there any way to fix this? Am I missing a setting? I keep my phone unlocked and charging when sitting on my desk, so it is always on the home screen, not the lock screen.

I have had this issue forever. I have done a couple of hard resets for other reasons over the months and it stays.
I occasionally get a lockup. When I do, the phone acts alive, but the touch screen is dead. I am using the Today screen, not Sensui. The two soft keys at the bottom of the page are "Delete" and "Menu" instead of the normal "Calendar" and "Contacts". And they pull up the menus for the inbox.
So it acts as if I am in the inbox, instead of on the today screen. But I see a locked up oday screen.
And I believe it only happens if I use a photo as my today screen background. I don't think it happens with a plain background.
Has anyone else seen this?
This is a VZW device, with stock 6.5 rom. Using the today screen with Phonealarm and Pocketbreeze.
Have you installed Dynamic Resource Proxy and NoPushInternet? Those might help.
When you are "locked up", is there any way to get the touch to start working again? If your touch screen stops working completely and only a soft reset brings it back, it sounds more like a hardware issue.
I have a question regarding the notification you get when your phone is locked. When your screen goes blank or turned off, when you bring the screen back on and you have a missed a call it shows on the screen. I have turned off all notifications that I know off. My question is, is there anyway I can turn this notification off also. Thanks for any responses.

my butterfly's screen just turned black. the phone is still functional because i'm receiving calls, making calls (my lock screen has a shortcut to a contact), receiving notification sounds, and i WAS able to feel the vibration feedback of unlocking my phone.
so basically the screen just lights up black, any ideas on how to reset it?
I tried to guesstimate on the screen where the reset option is, but i can't seem to get the right area after trying like 10 times...
i'm thinking, while i wait for htc to reply, to just let the battery run out?
I have a few issues with my GS7 and am hoping someone here may be able to advise me.
1) Every now and then, approximately once or twice an hour, I get a notification sound or vibration (depending on setting), but no actual notification. I used a program to create a shortcut to the notification log and every time I look there is no notification in that log that corresponds, anybody have any ideas how I can work out what this is?
2) In a similar manner, I'm always getting the notification to choose my keyboard, even though I use Swiftkey and have the stock keyboard disabled. Any tips?
3) I have a wireless charging stand which until recently worked without issues, or none I remember. A few times recently I've taken my phone off in the morning and it's not at 100%, any idea what might stop it charging? The only thing I can think is that if I've woken up and disturbed the phone to check the time etc maybe that's causing it?
Any thoughts on these would be appreciated.

i oressed the on/off button the home button and volume down buttton together and now have a blue screen ...saying downloading do not turn off target ...help needed how do i get my phone back to normal
Press and hold home + power for about 30 seconds, should come out of download mode.
hey, the thing is that when i receive a notification and my phone is locked, the screen wont turn on so i can see the notification card, i have to press the power button to see the notification, the led turns on, but the screen dont, this started to happen after i updated to 7.1.1, then i rooted my phone, the bootloader is unlocked, stock rom, in the settings for lock screen is set to show all notification content, if you can help me to fix this im very grateful.
