[Q] HELP - Moto G XT1028 - Bootloader - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since everyone here says unlocking the bootloader and permanently rooting moto G xt1028 is impossible, I'm thinking of flashing xt1031 bootloader and rom on xt1028.
Using adb and fastboot, I'd flash the motoboot.img(bootloader) from xt1031(boost mobile) to xt1028(verizon) and replace verizons default bootloader. Then flash the XT1031 stock rom to xt1028.
Maybe that would allow me to unlock the bootloader, root and install custom roms on the device?
Its all the same hardware after all.
Would it be possible? I mean, I don't want to mess up my device......

Do you want a brick? That's how you get a brick

you can't do because there are bootloaders for each one
im sorry, but you can't do something except "temporal root"

Hi, If I leave the bootloader locked and flash the stock based rooted rom(saw it somewhere on xda) via ADB, would I be able to achieve permanent root?
I thought Stock base roms can be flashed via ADB without unlocking bootloader. Correct me if I am wrong.

If you unlock bootloader you still will be on stock 4.4.2 but you can install custom recovery & flash custom roms.

No. No bootloader unlock 4.3+ as of yet. That fact is literally all over the VZW SIII forums.

[Q] Can i do a OTA update?

Hey guys,
I have the Moto G and i unlocked te bootloader, did an custom recovery and rooted the device and i had a custom rom. But i got back to stock with this GUIDE and i got no rooted device and no custom recovery but i still have the unlocked bootloader, i also have a other stock image of the moto then normally! (I have the 210.12.32.falcon_umts.Retail.en.US version) and i need the global gsm version xt1032 if i am right. But my question is, can i get ota updates now? because i want android L!
Thanks already.

Sorry for bad english
Your warranty is just invalid but you'll be able to perform an ota update. If you have doubts flash a stock 4.4.2 firmware and update it via ota, I'm sure you'll be able to do it. You'll enjoy Andoid L, don't worry

Having an unlocked bootloader has no adverse effect on the ability to update via OTA. You can even be rooted, although, you will more than likely lose root upon updating, which shouldn't be too difficult to get back. The only things that would affect updating via OTA is if you have a custom recovery, or if you've modified/deleted any system files/apps.

flash roms, custom recovery on LP 5.0.2?

i want to know if the guides for KK or JB work for unlocking bootloader, flashing custom recovires and stuff will also work with LP 5.0.2?
I don't believe that unlocking the bootloader depends on the ROM version. All you need to do is check to see if your bootloader is eligible for unlocking from the Motorola website.
Procedures for flashing a custom recovery is the same for all ROMs.

Search XDA or look in the Moto G 2015 General Forum. Everything you need to know is here if you look for it. BTW, once unlocked, the bootloader will always be unlocked but that won't affect updating.
I also have a moto g3 with same things.. Bootloader unlocked, rooted.
I'm using lollipop now
How to update to marshmallow
I can't use the option in settings any more since I'm using unlocked bootloader
