[Q] How do you wipe an lollipop android device that's already been encrypted? - General Questions and Answers

It's my goal to wipe a second hand android device I received.
You used to be able to do this via the encryption option.
Though now that I am on Lollipop when I enable encryption the phone (2014 Moto x) restarts and doesn't do the full wipe like android used to. Though does come up with encryption enabled.
I assume this has to do with Lolipop having encryption enabled by default.
Before I get all answers telling me to do a factory reset. No a factory reset doesn't wipe a system it just repartitions it and gives new encryption keys.
Tried in safemode too. Nothing
Just getting a new encreyption key via a factory reset doesn't do what I want. That key could be recovered and the data still exists. That's why tools like truecrypt ot luks if you have experience take so long to encrypt.

[Q] Wipe data/ factory reset soft bricked my phone

I am on A9192: HTC Inspire 4G.
My mobile got locked by too many patterns attempted. It asked for email and password, though I provided right information, it didn't let me go through.
I tried few options from Cannot unlock tablet as have no internet connection? but none of the option worked for me.
Anyway, I tried to factory reset through its stock recovery which is in chinese and labelled as `HTC ACE v4.0.0.2`.
I selected `wipe data/factory reset` which could have uninstalled the ROM on it. So, now my mobile is showing company logo only.
Every time I go to mount and storage menu, I find system, cache and data are unmounted. Though I mount and reboot the boot, it again gets unmounted.
What to do now ? I know this phone is rooted but I don't know if its bootloader is unlocked or not. It shows S-OFF on bootloader menu. Is it possible to install the system again ?

[Q] how to decrypt/reset my android device (4.4.2)

Hi.
Some time ago i bought Lenovo K910 with android 4.4.2 and I encrypted it.
Currently I have some problems with Baranyi ROM (v11) and i want to upgrade it to newest version (v12.3).
The one problem I have is encryption. I cannot decrypt my phone nor reset it to factory default.
After I successfully do the factory reset from Power+Vol UP menu I do not see any changes, still my phone is encrypted, my data is there.
I cannot decrypt it from Settings menu – I can choose Encrypt device (this function is not greyed out) but it looks there is nothing under this button.
Is there any other method to decrypt/format/etc my phone because currently I cannot room encrypted device 

Phone thinks it is encrypted

Device is running all stock HTC and Verizon software. Never rooted, never encrypted phone.
Phone now boots to a screen that says:
'Decrypt storage'
No matter what I enter for a password, it states:
"The password you entered is correct, but unfortunately your data is corrupt."
The only option provided is to 'Reset phone'.
Before I wipe all data with a factory reset, is there any chance of trying to recover data from the phone? Phone is not in USB mode so ADB doesn't recognize the device. Various hard resets don't do anything. Are there any tools that can allow me to look at the device memory before simply wiping everything and starting over?
me too

why cant i encrypt this?

hello i have a bush spira b2 10" tablet running android 6.0 that im thinking of selling.
when i look online most people say that i should encrypt the phone and then factory reset it as to not leave any data on the phone.
the problem is that i have already factory reset the phone and not only that but the encryption option is missing from the security menu. the credential storage is hardware-backed.
can anyone tell me why i dont have the option to encrypt even though the manual for the tablet says i can encrypt?
im wondering would it be enough if i just did a factory reset and then added files until the tablet was 100% full then did another factory reset?

Reflash Samsung device without Developers options

Hey everyone,
I'm managing some Android phones in company using VMWare Workspace One and today, when I unenrolled phone using console of MDM, it says unenrolled but nothing happened with the phone. Thanks to that I got now device, which seems like unenrolled from MDM side, but device thinks that it's enrolled and still got installed our policies.
In our policies we have restricted to do factory reset on the phone and also developers settings, so I'm actually unable to flash new firmware over ADB. Factory reset over recovery also doesn't work, I'm missing "wipe data/factory reset" section in the recovery on the phone. Devices are not rooted and with OEM system.
Is there any way, how to rescue that device? I just need to wipe it into factory reset and reenroll that device using KNOX Enrollment again.
Thanks.
