Any ideas? Tried making a backup with cpatain_throwback and bucks version but I just get an empty folder after reboot. I am saving them onto my sdcard but that has never been a problem before.
Reverted back to 4.4.4 firmware and the issue persists.

Reflashed the latest version from captain_throwback and that seemed to give me a working backup.

So I've downloaded all my apps and mods for my stock rooted Nexus 5(running android 4.4), how could I get and android 4.4.1 without unrooting?

If you're using the stock kernel and haven't changed anything at all in /system, you can just flash the update in recovery. I'm stock rooted with TWRP, and it flashed just fine for me.
Could you give me a link to the update please!?

It's on the first page of general.
Did not work for me. Running stock with twrp. It mentioned something about unexpected info in build/prop file. Is it because I'm running art?

You must have modified your build.prop. Revert it back to stock and it should work.
posted this in another thread but wasn't getting much action, this one seems busier
Just flashed the official 4.4.1 zip file using TWRP onto my phone and rebooted...
Now i'm getting constant errors with every google application.
non-stop popups saying "unfortunately google play store has stopped"
My APN's all deleted themselves as well and now I can't even add any back in, I fill all the information in and I hit save and it doesn't save anything. No service now..
couldn't do a factory reset, button wouldn't respond
anyone else have any problems like this. I've tried wiping my dalvik and cache but that failed. had to wipe data first, then cache worked, then dalvik finally wiped...
I'll set my phone back up and see if it works now, just going through first boot procedures
Mines worked perfectly, no problems and camera loads and captures faster

I actually had the same things you mentioned in my stock n5, I wasn't even rooted (just unlocked) and it suddenly did all the things you said. I did all the same you did haha but I had to reflash factory images and it worked again, but I have no idea of what happened.

I did, but still got the error. But then I pasted in my backup build.prop from ROM toolbox and it worked! Then while in TWRP I reflashed TWRP (TWRPception!). However, when I went to reboot it did not prompt me to root the device. So I'm running 4.4.1 stock kernel with TWRP, but no root. TWRP never prompts to root. Does anyone know of a .zip I can flash to root the N5 via TWRP?

Have a look in the sticky threads, at the top of general. It should be obvious which one

I was able to root using CF auto root :cyclops:
Did you maybe delete data for Google Framework in order to get the OTA quicker?
Dan Morrill (an Android engineer) said that that is REALLY not recommended because it can have all sorts of problems with all google apps. Doing that erases your device fingerprint used for push notifications, device identification etc. The playstore was definitely affected by this as well.

I backed up using TWRP on my 16 GB N5 running android 4.4.2. But when I restored it on my other 32 GB N5 also running 4.4.2, it gets stuck on boot screen (4 dots circulating). I was able to flash stock image back to the 32GB and running normal. How do I get all the stuff from my 16 Gb to the 32 GB one, like image backup and restore? Thanks
Should restore fine as long as you're not restoring the EFS. Doing that would ruin the phone

When I restore, there are 3 items checked........data, system, and boot. After the restore, it gets stuck at boot screen
It seems you are running the stock build so why do u want to restore the system & boot partitions?
To be able to backup then restore data the easiest way is to use a 3rd party app like Helium, Titanium Backup...
Running the latest twrp but cm11 m8 won't install in recovery, keeps failing. I did have it installed a few weeks ago strangely enough, wiped everything over and over but no luck so far. Gone back to stock for now.
Is there an error? Did you check the logs? Are you on the latest boatloader?

Hello my apologies if this has been asked,
I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 4.4.4 with NJ4 firmware.
To root I flashed the I337_NC1_Stock_Kernel using Odin's PDA slot, rooted using Towelroot, then flashed back to I337_NJ4_Stock_Kernel using Odin's PDA slot.
I downloaded Graviton rom, GalaxyS4/SGH-i337/roms/Graviton/Graviton_S4_v3.0_20140502_SafeStrap.zip
I used Safestrap to boot into recovery mode and made a back up of the stock rom on my ext_sd.
I did a wipe and then flashed Graviton and now when I boot up it appears that rom loads but I get this message stuck on the screen:
"Unfortunately, com.sec.android.sviewcover has stopped."
I tried rewiping and reloading the rom and still get the same problem. I tried restoring using my backup however, when I go to restore I can't see my back up on my sd. However, I checked with my computer and it is there.
What is my best course of action?
Try wiping the data and cache of the mentioned process in the settings. If this doesn't solve then it could be a rom bug

thanks, it still did not work . I will assume it is a rom bug. I did manage to get my restore to work.
I noticed that my stock was 4.4.4 and graviton is based on 4.4.2. Does this matter?
Just to update. My apologies I don't know how I missed this but I needed to install the nj4 module as well as supersu.zip from safestrap right after installing the rom.
To any other newbies having same problem read this entire thread carefully.

My tablet (P3100) was running the last nightly of CM13 whwn this happened. I tried to download 2 big files namely the LineageOS build and opengapps on my tablet as I was preparing to make a clean flash. And when they both failed, I deleted both of them in the stock file manager. Now, the most unimaginable thing happened to my tab. It froze right after I pressed yes on the delete prompt and when I tried to turn it back on, it gets past the boot logo and just stays black. Recovery mode is not accessible but download mode is. Offline charging also works. I thought of flashing the stock firmware through odin but since I was not done backing up my files, Im afraid to do so as it could wipe the internal storage (does it?) My question is, can I flash the stock firmware and leave my files (not apps) untouched?

Your files will surely get deleted using an odin flash. Try odin flashing twrp and then tell me.

most likely yes because android marshmallow is newer then jellybean so yes if the stock doesnt work correctly then yeah and I dont think it should have deleted twrp and when you get twrp on there again use this backup on this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ock-firmware-galaxy-tab-2-10-1-p5113-t3547723
UPDATE: I tried to flash andi's common twrp using odin but alas, twrp still does not work. I then flashed stock as a last resort and all my files were wiped unsurprisingly. Now running LineageOS without any problems (but I hope this does not happen again) thanks to all who tried to help
