[Q] How do I get a password to the Emma software? - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I heard tat I can use Emma to flash new firmwares onto my Z3, but when I downloaded Emma I got asked for username/password.
I requested for an account, but never got one. Can anyone explain how this works? Also, if I root my phone now (unlocking bootloader and then root), will I still be able to get Android L when it comes out by flashing? I mean, will there for sure be any FTF files around?
Thanks in advance

You cannot use Emma with a locked bootloader anyway.
You will not receive official updates once you unlock the bootloader.

[Q]Sony Ericsson Update Companion and Unlocked Bootloader.

Does anyone know if updating from the Sony Ericsson Update Companion has any side effects with an unlocked bootloader? (Yes I'm on Verizon, its a question from my Swedish friend.)
Tell him to relock his bootloader prior to updating with seus, pc companion or OTA afaik it wil brick his phone if don't. Look in the dev section for a how to relock bl by blagus. He can unlock it again after opdating to retain root, but make sure the things he flashes is compatible

Anybody Please ?

In what order do I flash/relock to get OTA? Please Help

Hello!
I bought a phone, with unlocked bootloader and root. Z3 D6603
I dont know exactly how the previous owner unlocked BL etc.
But I flashed it to 23.1.A.1.28 lolli, fixed super SU and dualrecovery.
The thing is, I now want to return it to stock, so that i can get OTA updates by Sony Companion, and i have no idea how to do so.
Searched the forums, and found a lot of info, but I dont want to brick or ruin anything.
Do I need to flash stock firmware without root, remove dualrecovery or relock BL, or maybe all of it?
I posted this earlier, and im not sure if I explained it right, I said I wanted a step by step guide.
What I meant was a guideline in what ORDER to do stuff, not how to do them.
Is it enough to relock the bootloader, and then use Sony Companion to update, or do I need to flash something, maybe go back to original recovery first?
Help is sincerely appreciated !
PS: Sorry for posting again, but I dont know how to change the headline/bump the post, and need this done ASAP, or else I wont have a working phone in a few days. ( Change of sim card)

Nothing. If it is unlocked and you dont have backup of original TA partition. There is no help. You can't get you DRM keys back and without them you cant relock to original state. And majority of Sony stock fw simply doesnt provide OTA for unlocked bootloaders, except for the new Sony Concept ROM.
You may try to download Androxyde Flashtool as it provides relock function, however it doesnt restore TA. If it brings OTA back not sure, because I always backup my TA so just try it.

Updating with no WiFi??

I went to do the update last night for the first time, I tether off my phone for everything at home so this is my only Internet access. Ota won't download on data, laptop needs to be connected to Internet when firmware already downloaded and prepared, when it reboot the phone to flash it looks for Internet access or no flash. Anyone know a work around for that? I searched and Google but didn't find the answer I need.
Do you have a spare phone you could use as the hotspot?
The only other way I can think of, is to use Flashtool to flash the .ftf file.

only spare left is a S2, and the antenna seems not working
I don't want to unlock bootloader yet, flashing ftf on z5 needds UBL or not?
its been awhile since I had a Sony
thanks
Flashing ftf doesn't unlock bootloader and flashtool doesn't need an unlocked bootloader.

Backup Z5 32.0.A.5.19 firmware

I've just bought a Z5 Dual (E6633) that has 32.0.A.5.19 firmware. I want to make a backup of the firmware so that I can return to the original in the future. I've tried to make an ftf file using the Sony PC Companion and flashtool. When the software update has finished downloading there are no files named FILE in the blob_fs directory. Is it possible to make a backup of the original firmware? I haven't been able to find 32.0.A.5.19 ftf files to download either. Is there any way to get the 32.0.A.5.19 for the Z5 Dual E6633?
Thanks.
you should look here for those files:
Update Engine\localstorage\
what about the "service exchange unit" in xperifirm? isnt this the factory firmware? someone correct me if im wrong
Thanks a lot for your replies. I found the files in the local storage folder. Unfortunately when I try to decrypt the files Flashtool stops responding. Any idea why this happens.
I found the "service exchange unit" in XperiFirm yes it is the 32.0.A.5.19 firmware. If I can't get the backup from my phone to decrypt - I'll try it. By the way what does the R?C refer to in the same firmware version? Does it mater if you flash a different R version to the one on your phone?
Thanks again for the help.

Those file can not be decrypted by flashtools!
You can extract them manually using Winrar or 7zip as someone suggested before...
I have used this method to create a FTF file and everything was fine!
However, I haven't flashed it yet to check if it really works!
Thanks again. I unpacked the files and created an ftf file with Flashtool. In the meantime I had flashed the 32.1.A.1.185 firmware which upgraded the phone to Android 6. I then flashed the 32.0.A.5.19 firmware I created with my phone backup, but the phone still shows it is using the 32.1.A.1.185. I flashed the "service exchange" 32.0.A.5.19 with the same result - the phone is still showing 32.1.A.1.185. Is there any way back from the update to Android 6 or is it a one-way street? Thank you.

I haven't tested downgrade yet, however you shouldn't have any problem downgrading!
Many people tried downgrading successfully to backup their TA partition!
Check if the flash process completes successfully and you wipe everything (backup your data before wiping)
Thanks again. Do I need to unlock the boot-loader to downgrade? My boot-loader is locked. I sent a request to Sony for the unlock code. I'm still waiting for the code after a day. I've tried another email address but I still haven't received an unlock code. How long should it take to get the code?

Do not unlock your bootloader before backing up your TA partition!!!!!
here is the guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/general/guide-rooting-unlocking-bootloader-t3354307
please ensure what you are doing before attempting to unlock your bootloader!
No, you don't need to be unlocked in order to downgrade...

For unknown reasons, many email providers are kinda blacklisted. I tried 4 different german email accounts, no reply at all. Then i used a gmail account and instantly received the unlock key
I just discovered the same thing about the unlock code and email addresses. I tried two hotmail.com and a Yahoo.com email account and I didn't receive the code. Tried a gmail.com address and got the unlock code almost instantly! Is this a conspiracy between Sony / Google / Android?

until today i only heard about issues with german mail providers. according to a german android forum, only gmail and freenet mail accounts working properly. now heard of your case, one could think its a conspiracy, yes
anyways, back to topic: as @Daniel_GB stated, please be absolutely sure to backup your TA partition and spread some copies to various datastorages. i unlocked my BL without backing up TA, and 2-3 weeks later there was an exploit found
so be glad you have this opportunity. good luck
