I'm getting a z3 soon and I want a micro sd with it since tmobile version only has 32gb. I was debating over if I should get a Samsung evo or evo pro(theres like a 10 dollar price difference right now on amazon black friday). Is there anything that's better within my price range of $40-50 max?

Aah, you've obviously willing to pay some 500$ for a phone but not willing to put down another 10$ for an SDcard on top?! Be serious!
The Pro is ~90MB/s max read speed, the EVO is ~48 MB/s max read speed. Big difference in write speeds as well 10-15MB/s vs 20-30MB/s
For anyone in Canada...
64gb Patriot EP (90MB/s read and 45 MB/s write) is on sale until Dec 31 for $49.99 from NCIX; plus free shipping for orders over $50. Great speeds for 4K video recording.
Cheers'
I got both the 64GB Sandisk Extreme Plus and the 64GB Samsung Pro. I would have to say the Sandisk Extreme Plus is a little faster in write and similar in read speeds, based on CrystalDiskMark. Either way, both are good--get whichever is cheaper. Note, unless you are getting into 4K videos, you will not need any of these cards. Go with something like the Samsung EVO is more than enough.
I don't know what the best 64gb micro sd card is, but I am currently using the Sandisk Ultra 64gb micro sd with no problems. Got mine for an amazing price so it was a no brainer. When I first looked at the phone, some people told me 64gb weren't compatible and they were definitely wrong.
I think as long as you get a reputable brand (Sandisk, Samsung, etc.) with class 10 transfer, you should be set. Otherwise if you are a high performer and don't mind spending more, there are always the Extreme and Pro versions so you can have the best of the best.
This: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kingston-Mi...1183367?pt=US_Memory_RAM_&hash=item19f1d0ec07
¿Why? Because this phone only can read and write up to 43 MB/s aprox. and you dont need a more expensive sd card than this.
If you anyway need a ultra fast sd card for use in PC, Cameras, etc that supports a lot more read/write speeds then buy a Sandisk Extreme Plus.

Hi, does anyone have one of these?
http://www.sandisk.sg/products/memory-cards/microsd/extremepro-uhs-i/?capacity=16GB
It offers up to 95 MB/s (633X) read speed; write speed up to 90 MB/s (600X) which is about twice the speed of the normal one. And also twice the price
If anyone has this can you do some speed tests and post here?
Thanks.
I'd love an SDXC 64gb version but it's probably cost as much as a 120 gb SSD
AFAIK, our phones don't support UHS-1 format. So I believe it's capped at class 10 for us. I don't think these will benefit us very much.
Micro SD
I dong think the extreme sandisk worth it. Besides it only support 16 gb no more than that. I suggest take the Sandisk Ultra microsdxc or micor sdhc. Its working and fast but worth it
Guys check this strontium 32gb UHS-1 card http://youtu.be/PuHfmuJ8pf0... should I go for it.
says to be faster than sandisk ultra and samsung pro series microsd cards, with life time warranty....
please suggest....
today I have reached the micro SD 32gb samsung...48 mb /s
Personally, I find the Sandisk Ultra to be the best cost versus speed with storage in mind. I've had the 64GB since I bought my GS3 last year and it has worked great with holding nandroid backups and anything else that is bulky.

I have done some reading :cyclops: & find out their are user which are having problem with sandisk ultra series cards, and i am glad that you guys don't have any those kind of issue.
but i think "Strontium 32GB UHS-1 400X" will be better choice for me. this card is showing some promising results in this video review http://youtu.be/PuHfmuJ8pf0 they compared it with sandisk ultra and samsung pro series. and also here they giving away 4gb pen derive:victory:
Ive got the Galaxy S4 I337 16GB version running San Disk Ultra 64GB SDXC just fine no complaints!

I've been wondering the same thing - thanks for posting this thread.
I was wondering if what BRAND, TYPE, AND CLASS will be useful for the Galaxy S5? I heard that the 64GB Sandisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-1 chip is good but doesnt have the full 70mbps reading speed and 20mbps writing speed support on a galaxy s4. It would really help me decide if you suggest what kind of sd card will be fit for the GS5. Thanks!

I have a samsung 64GB. As for the class, it's always class 10, any lower and your giving away performance. As for the type, not sure what that is, for me the type is MicroSD, and all class 10 64gb microsds are UHS-1. I have never had any performance issues with my card but i know sandisk released a gold edition version of their 64gb card that gives an extra 10mb boost, but not sure if its worth it for double the price of any other 64gb, if not, 70mb/s is more than enough

well I went through 3 32GB SanDisk card's in less than 8 months, I invested the cash and got back then the 32GB Samsung card and is being working without a glitch for almost 2 years in the dot. Needless to say, I bought a 64GB Samsung card this go around.

What's the story behind those 3 SD Cards from Sandisk? Because that's what I'm planning to buy.
I got my card today. Samsung micro SDXC UHS-I Pro Class 10 64GB. Read up to 70MB/s Write up to 20 MB/s.
The S5 is compatible with 128GB cards, but way expensive.
I've used a SanDisk 64GB card for over a year with no issues. Before that a 32GB, which was the same. SanDisk have the largest market share in the UK by some margin (which aggrieves Samsung). I never did see intrinsically higher return rates on SanDisk cards or Samsung cards. Both brands are good, both make there own flash memory (Samsung would tell you they make ALOT of flash memory).
You however get lots of fake SanDisk cards (better brand equity), I've even seen reputable retailers get duped, which tends to happen less with Samsung.
Buy from a reputable retailer and which ever brand you choose you will be fine. I personally prefer SanDisk but I don't have a rational reason for it. 128GB will drop in price over the next 6 months (obvious really). So I'd save your money. Faster cards are better and for the small difference in cost it's worth it. Although be aware that you are not paying for better quality "memory" as per se but a faster controller.

Agreed. The new release by Samsung from the EVO/PRO line would probably be best.
I'll probably pick one of those up when they drop a bit in price.
Can anyone confirm that you can still set the micro sd as your main storage source?

Here your link i see 64 gb. That's good capacity range for S4..:silly:
I have a class 10 64gb Sandisk I paid £30 for about 6 months back. I have never had any issues with it in my S4 and the speed is fine. I will be swapping it over to my S5 on Friday and expect pretty much the same.
I am interested to see what speed I will get via the USB3.0 feature though.
Samsung micro SDXC UHS-I Pro Class 10 64GB. Read up to 70MB/s Write up to 20 MB/s.
I purchased the
Transcend 64GB MicroSDXC Class10 UHS-1 Memory Card with Adapter 45 MB/s
$38 USD and Prime shipping. Getting my S5 finally tomorrow!
Is it true that you cannot move your apps to the micro sd card?

My Thoughts
I was contemplating the 128 but i don't think i'll ever use it, and im a music and movie junkie, but i don't keep movies (or tv shows) on my phone after i watched them, so i went with a 64gig sandisk mobile ultra. I also don't believe the phones can take full use of the higher transfer rates of some cards (48mb/s+ cards) so i went with this guy here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JAKH0F4
its Amazon Prime Eligible and comes with the adapter and usb reader.
I'm sure others will post their thoughts as well

These phones won't take advantage of the higher speeds of the Extremes and Pros unless you're removing the card from your phone and plugging it into a USB 3.0 card reader each time. So The 48MB/s Ultras and Evos are good enough.

yeah, like he said, if you are only using the card in your phone, get this guy for less than 40 bucks!
Just picked up one of these
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Elect...412429044&sr=1-6&keywords=64+gb+micro+sd+card
Got good reviews and has the bandwidth for 4K. The Note 4 will be my first 4K device so I wanted to make sure I had a good card to go with it. Dont need 128 GB (yet) personally as I stream pandora for my music. I am sure the sandisk cards would have been just fine as well.
I have the 128GB microSD card and it's great! Super fast, and stupid high capacity. But with picture and video file sizes getting bigger and bigger, and phones doing more and more, I believe that the space will come in handy. I've currently got LOTS of HD movies on it in the Note 3... but if I need the space on the Note 4 I can easily delete them.
hi,
I need to ask what you thin about this SD : SanDisk 64GB Mobile Ultra Micro SD (SDXC) Card - Class 10 UHS-1
I had this about a year and would be good for note 4 and QHD video? or which speed is good for note 4 to be great for video camera?
thanks

Really makes no difference since the phone does not support the UHS-I speeds. The SanDisk Ultra would be as good as a more expensive ones.
sanddisk and Samsung are both highly rated as very good quality. You can't go wrong with either. I suggest which ever one on sale or cheaper that's the way to go.
great guys thanks, I was scared to buy new one card.

Samsung Electronics 64GB PRO Micro SDXC with Adapter Upto 90MB/s Class 10 Memory Card (MB-MG64DA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IVPU88U/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_kLSmub1MQDR6P
Grabbed this one for $80 during the sale in the morning.
http://www.amazon.com/Lexar-High-Performance-microSDHC-Memory-LSDMI128BBNL633R/dp/B00O1M21H8
Decided to go with it since Lexar (micron/crucial) makes the best chips and the warranty is better than the one provided by Samsung and SanDisk. But most importantly, it's faster than the current SanDisk.
I wish there was an option to up the voltage to the SD card readers in Samsung phones. I get that they lower the power for battery life and heat, buy I also want to get decent transfer speeds with my phone. No real point in getting an SD card above 48MB/s for phone use only as the required voltage for UHS-1 is not available. I do believe that all Snapdragons since the 600 support UHS-1 though. Too bad.
i'm curious about the 128 gb max storage on specification, does that mean phone+ micro sd = 128 max or 128gb micro sd+ phone internal storage?

128gb max is the microsdxc alone (but that's only because there aren't any 256GB microsdxc cards on the market)
it's 128gb + 32gb
Running SanDisk ultra sdxc 128GB in my GN3 and mt Go Pro Hero3 black .
Like computers, our devices tested/rated for what memory is currently available when the device is released.
For example GN3 is rated for 64GB sdxc, but 128GB works fine.
For what was initially stated in the OP.
The variants of "sd" are based on capacity. With few exceptions to some 4gb mSD cards, sdhc is 4gb-32gb , and sdxc is 64+GB for meow. Until something greater than 128GB is released, which may or may not be sdxc or variant of.
Whats the max speed can the note 4 read on sd card? Same as note 3 and other recents samsung phones?
+1^100000000
THIS IS THE BEST CARD OUT PERIOD.
If you want the best, here you go:
Samsung Electronics 64GB PRO Micro SDXC with Adapter Upto 90MB/s Class 10 Memory Card (MB-MG64DA/AM)
For the cost of your kidney you can also opt for: Lexar High-Performance microSDHC 633x 128GB UHS-I Flash Memory Card LSDMI128BBNL633R
(However, I'd wait for Samsung's 128GB PRO ....one things for sure, you can count on it in every way.)
SanDisk is garbage...never again. The integrity of the cards have tanked over the years.
Go Samsung....

Lexar is every bit as good as Samsung if not better. they're owned by Micron/Crucial and are known in the photography and computer sphere for making the best chips out there, but I guess their stuff is marketed as more high brow so the average consumer isn't acquainted with the brand. Note that the Lexar cards have lifetime warranties for a reason.
Hi guys
So I currently have a SanDisk Ultra Class10 32GB MicroSDHC in my phone, but I am running out of space and I am looking at getting a 64GB MicroSDXC. I am tempted to get a Samsung EVO 64GB MicroSDXC, anyone had one of these? Are they noticeably better than SanDisk's Ultra range?

Hey buddy!
While I cant compare the EVO to the Sandisk ultras.. I do have a 64gb EVO and all I can say is that I am extremely blown away with the performance of the sd card. Not to mention how damn cheap they are! I setup a ftp server on my wifi and was able to transfer about 40gb of mkv to the sd card at like 9-10mb/s. The read and write rate are incredible.

Hey! I had the same 32GB ultra in my phone at first and found that i ran out of memory quickly. I broke down and opted for the 128 GB EVO and I love it. Well worth the extra money spent. If 64 is enough for you then that is the one I would go with. But my thought process was I plan to use my SD Card throughout more phones in the future. As technology gets better and better it seems that file sizes get larger and larger (in particular the size of movie files) so I wanted to make sure I wouldn't have to worry about running out of space for a couple years at least. Just my 2 cents.

I'm using 2 pcs of 64 GB Samsung EVO microSDXC UHS1.
One for my Note 10.1 N8000 & One for my Note 4 N910H.
Both microSDs run very well, I even get 12-15MB/s when copying files into the microSD.
Tested using an app, it can reach around 16 MB/s write speed.
Next time I'll buy the 128GB version
Do check out the Evo+ cards as well. They sell at slight premium but offers almost twice the data throughput of evo cards. Pro and pro+ cards are even more expensive but the speed bump isnt as much.
I have the 64GB Pro and transfer speeds seem to be pretty fast when transferring files and such (I haven't actually tested it).
Also recently bought a few 64GB Evo cards for family members and tablets.
sure it worth it
I currently have a 64 GB S6, and I'm thinking of upgrading to a 32 GB S7 with an 128 GB SD card. (I can upgrade through work and sell my S6, so I'll even come out ahead.)
I know that access to the 128 GB SD card is slower than to internal storage, but how much exactly? Would that affect my user experience at all? Would I notice if files are read from, or written to, the SD card on the S7 compared to the internal storage on my current S6?
Any recommendations for specific SD card to put in the S7?
Thanks!

Fastest card you can get would be the Samsung Pro Plus.
And they're priced accordingly, too: $150 for 95 Mb/x, 128 GB on Amazon. Would an 80 Mb/s EVO+ (at about $60 less than half) make a lot of difference in user experience?
(By the way, I'm not a gamer at all, so I doubt I'll have games or other very large apps on the SD card, just media such as photos, music, etc.)

I paid $93 for the 128GB Pro Plus direct from Samsung. I'd say at that price its better to skip the Evo altogether. As for speed the Evo will probably do what you want. I was using a Toshiba class 10 for the past year and a half and had zero speed issues but wanted to jump to the Pro Plus for the extra capacity and to have the speed for HD recording.
I use the Sandisk 128GB 80MB/s without any problem at all, came from S6 64GB, have not noticed any major difference, it works good enough.

@[email protected], since you already did what I'm considering doing, how's the upgrade from S6 to S7 been for you? Are you liking it? Something you'd recommend? How's the S7 camera holding up compared to the S6? (I know the reviews are generally very favorable, but it's always good to get the opinion of someone who's actually made the jump.)

@dutch_in_seattle
hmm, for me I really wanted IP68 and microSD, so it was worth the upgrade, bu also the better battery life and better camera, I love the instant focus... so I would say it was worth the jump, but bare in mind I do get my phone through work so I don't pay for them.
Paid 39$ at best buy on a price match for a 64gb pro plus Samsung
More than read speed for specs on a card.
