Hey I'm looking for something pretty much like the email app for the Galaxy Tab S. I just upgraded from the Tab S to an nVidia Shield tablet and can't find a decent email app.
Really only feature I want is drag and drop emails to folders. Anyone know of any like this or think for some reason the Galaxy email app would work on stock Android? (haven't tried to port it yet)

I had a chance to briefly play with a Xoom and the 2 paneled Gmail app is spectacular! any chance the apk works on VegaN? or do I have to wait for a honeycomb port?

AFAIK it needs Honeycomb. It's built to use the 'Fragments' in use in HC.
I don't recall what the Xoom e-mail app looks like, but if it's anything like the Galaxy Tab e-mail app, then I know what you mean. Sweet!
Fortunately, one of the devs (thank you!) got the Galaxy Tab e-mail app to work with the G-Tab and that's what I've been using ever since. Probably the best e-mail app I've ever used on Android. Search for the thread in the Apps section.

Thanks for the tip. I have been looking for a better e mail app. K-9 is functional but I just don't like it. I will search it out. Now if the Adam calendar app was a little more stable the business side of my tab would be complete. Its beautiful and syncs perfectly just has weird crashes.
Edit: the galaxy mail app is amazing. I was able to rip out k-9 and the gmail app because this does hotmail and Gmail better than both in one app.

Just searched the apps forum for "mail" and it came right up...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895075&highlight=mail
It was actually the gMail app, not the mail app, it was the Gmail icon, same as on my GTab, but it was two paneled and awesome!
but I'll check into the updated mail app.

It is built with the fragmnets api from honeycomb. Even if you could get your hands on an apk it won't run.
Hi all, I'm a very recent switcher from iPhone (just got the SR 5 days ago after owning the original iPhone and then the 3gs for the past 4 years) and had a question about the stock apps.
I really like the stock Samsung e-mail app over the Gmail app for managing my gmail accounts but one thing that is a glaring omission is the inability to archive e-mails. I know you can do this through the Gmail app but to me the Samsung app is just slicker plus it has unified inbox which was great on the iPhone.
In the original iPhone mail app you used to not be able to archive Gmail email for the longest time until a fairly recent update (i think it was the same update that gave us unified inbox- not sure though). Along the same lines, is it possible that Samsung will ever update the stock e-mail app to support archiving? If so, how do you update stock apps? Does it only come with a new OS update like ICS?
I guess I could be persuaded into looking at 3rd party apps but I think I really prefer to stay with stock because I know it has been specifically designed with this phone's hardware in mind and is probably the most optimized with regards to memory management, battery, etc. Thanks!
gmail for android supports archiving already.
You might be able to archive with activesync/imap if you move the email out of the inbox folder but that's more of a hack then anything else.
To answer your original question I would not expect many changes to the stock apps excluding those that are in the market (maps, gmail, etc) until we get ics.
Is it possible to have app or functionality like Galaxy Note on Xoom wifi usa?
I mean on any running app ,visually one can write or draw something and share with gmail or facebook ,email etc
My wife and I each have our Android phone (S2 & S4), but uses the same Samsung Note 10.1 Tablet.
Is there any application sow we both can SMS from the same tablet, each with our phone?
You could try it with two different apps, MightyText for one user and TabletSMS for the other for example. Not sure if either of those support multiple users.

That's probably the best solution, if both of you prefer Mighty since it sync to Gmail switching user is "as easy" as logging in with a different Gmail.
Another way is to use mighty with the browser in the tablet, I don't think you'll get notifications but to send sms it should work just fine.
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda app-developers app
Maybe you can try a ROM with multiuser ... i dont know if that would work
I am looking for a way to be able to display messages that come to WhatsApp on my phone onto my Nexus 7 tablet.
Seeing as you cannot have one number registered to more than one device with WhatsApp, the only way this seems possible is to use "WhatsApp Web".
I tried out "WhatsApp Web" on my Nexus 7 Tablet using Chrome Browser and as long as you request desktop site, it seems to work brilliantly.
But here is the problem: the browser must be open at all times to be able to get notifications. So is there any way or app that allows a permanent chrome tab as a running process?
Suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
