X-plore Sandbox (partially solved write problems on ext SD?) - General Questions and Answers

HI to everyone, I hope i'm in the right place,
if' i'm not, sorry.
I've installed X-plore file manager recently and i've noticed thet there's an
internal option to write on sd, this option is called "kitkat sandbox" .
It seems that other app cannot write on it, I'd like to write on that "directory" when i move the sd card
form the phone to the pc, but i haven't found any directory with that name.
Does anyone knows how this tool works?
thank you !

HELP! What's in my SD?

I am using the Darkforce ROM of WM 6.1, after I insert a SD in my Universal, I found that aa file generated automatically called "EncFiltLog.menc". It will continuous exist no matter I deleted it or not.
Anyone know what is "EncFiltLog.menc"??
By the way, I am using Transcend 16GB SDHC. Today, I found that my PPC can't detect it suddenly, I tried to insert it on my NB, but there are some files halt! When I double click it and wait for a moment, a messege box appear and say there are some problem about I/O device. No any device can detect my card now, anyone know what's the issue? I even can't format it now...
Please HELP!!
THANKS YOU VERY MUCH!
.menc files
.menc files are encrypted files.
When you set the option to encrypt files (Start\Settings\System\Encryption) then anything new that is saved to your SD card will be encrypted (and will have this extension - although this extension doesn't appear when viewing from the device that encrypted the files).
To read the file, you must view it via your device. (You can view/transfer it onto your PC via active sync from the device that encrypted it).
If you have reflashed your device without backing up your SD via active sync, then I don't think there is any way of recovering the file . (NB. I copy everything from my SD card to my computer before reflashing, and then copy it all back again ).
Hi my friend!
I had the same issue but with things 4.1 ROM. I don't know how, but i tried every day to format my sd card, and after 5 days it worked I have also this file in the root... It's the encryption file i think...
Mine was a 2GB panasonic SD not an SDHC... Keep trying!
Thanks for all reply!
But I found that I haven't tick the option of"Start\Setting\System\Encryption" , but the file still exist! I don't know why...
Any my SD issue....
I an using this ROM for few weeks already, but not newly flashed. My SD have no problem before. Haven't backup the datas is my mistake! I am so regreted. My SD is now can't detect from all device, and I can't format it also.
ALL DATAS ARE LOST!! Just wanna cry!
damaged sd-card!
Hi! Had the same problem with my new kaiser. Also thought about problem of ROM or the device itself. But it was just the SD-Card itself. Bougth a new one - no probs anymore...
any true solutions to this?
I have this same problem, so the only way to fix it is to get a new card?
Step By Step To Delete File EncFiltLog.menc (EFLG.m)
1) Insert your SD into Card Reader Cut EFLG.m
2) Paste insde your PC
3) Defrag your SD card
4) Select Option Tools>Folder Options>View Select Show hidden file
5) Now you can see new folder ie File 0000
6) Delete the folder
7) Now your SD card become as original
I read somewhere (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2718217&postcount=9) that the hidden file "EncFiltLog.menc" is stored on every SD-Card by WindowsMobile weather encryption is activated or not.
So it should be no problem to have it on the card - as long as everything works.

[Q] Can't move files from internal SD card to external SD card from within the XOOM

I've searched the forums and can't seem to find an answer to this, but I do know that others have the same issue. For example, when I download a file such as a new kernel zip file, I am unable to move (using Root Explorer or any other file manager) the file from the internal SD card over to the removable external SD card. I always have to connect to my Mac in order to place the file on the external so that I can move forward with flashing, etc. Anyone have a fix for this? I can't believe that such a simple and required function doesn't work. I realize that the external SD card functionality is based on a hack/mod, but it seems like not being able to write to it from within the device makes it somewhat useless in many ways.
EDIT: Nevermind, SOLVED. Found out you have to "copy" and not "move"...works like a charm
In Root Explorer you need to go to the top left and you'll see a button that says Mount R/W make sure it isn't set as Mount R/O. Afterwards make sure you move the files to SDCard/External so you can see it in recovery.
Good you got it to work..

[Completed] Kitkat.. (let the app free to write on his own directory on Ext SD card)

Hi to everyone sorry for my bad english...
I'm using Kitkat with no root, so my apps don't have the permission to write on the external sd (excluding the system apps), but i notice that some apps (like Xplore for expample) are able to create a directory in extsd and to write on it, only on that directory and subdirectories.
I'm asking if it's possible to create another directory (maybe by a rooted device) on my extsd to let Other apps to read/write on its own directory too...
It's possible? And how?
Thank you in advice
Bye!!
Hi there,
About what device are we talking about?

ES explorer can't write extSD

Hi ev'body,
If I have no problem for writing on ext SD (Samasung 64Gb) with the stock apk "My Files",
when I try to do it with another file manager (ES explorer for example),
I'm asked to choose the root dir on the ext SD, but this one doesn't appear on the list!
Idem with other FM. Where is the bug?
Thanks for help
6045Y, unrooted
5.0.2-010 06
Having the same problem on a 6039Y
Someone said somewhere about having to name the sd card? But I haven't got round to trying it yet. Stock File Browser has no problems editing folders/files on external sd
Follow the instructions here on how to modify your platform.xml to re-enable write access for 3rd party apps: http://trendblog.net/fix-kitkat-sd-card-write-restriction/
To gm :
I also read this and I tried; after naming the card :no diff
To fw
Needs a rooted phone; mine's not
Thanks to both

Marshmallow - write permission on encrypted SD card with 3rd party file explorer

Hi there,
I am using ES File Explorer on my Samsung Galaxy S7. I have noted there is an issue with the write permission with an encrypted SD card. All the new folders I created on encrypted SD card will have an icon with a question mark and I cannot access those folders. The default file explorer that comes with the phone works fine with the encrypted SD card.
I have no problem creating and using new folders on a non-encrypted SD card. Does anyone have any idea how do i fix this?
Thanks
Did you find solution to it?
Email the devs of es file explorer.
I've already contacted the ES File Explorer devs. It seems to me that this write permission issue with encrypted SD card happens to all the 3rd party apps (ES file explorer, MyPhoneExplorer, etc.). The phone just won't let those apps to properly write to the encrypted SD.
I wonder if anyone here having the same issue like me?
I just post a question to MyPhoneExplorer's forum. Hopefully someone there will have a clue of the problem.
"Hi there,
I used MyPhoneExplorer to sync files between my PC and my phones (Samsung Galaxy S3, S5, Note3) without any problem before.
Now, I have a Galaxy S7 (Android 6.0 Marshmallow) and I have noted an issue with the write permission to the ENCRYPTED external SD card. Every time i try to copy/write a file from my PC to my encrypted external SD card via MyPhoneExplorer, it returns an error message saying "Please note: It's impossible to wirte to the external SD card (External storage) for all third party applications due to a security restriction in Android! The internal phone storage (Memory card) is not affected by this restriction. "
Please note that I have no problem copy/write files from my PC to the non-encrypted external SD card on my Galaxy S7.
And i observe that this issue with the write permission to encrypted SD card in Android 6 also happens with other 3rd party app such as ES File Explorer.
So, I reckon the way apps write to encrypted external SD might be changed in Android 6?!?!
Could you please have a look."
Have exactly the same behavior in ES Explorer. When rebooted can see the folder and content. Internal file explorer from Samsung(?) works fine.
I encountered the same problem as well. Happens on all 3rd party apps. Just wondering Is this Galaxy S7 issue only or does this happen on other devices? Are there any workarounds for this issue other than removing encryption completely from SD card?
Have the same problem with every file explorer I tried. the only one that works is the built-in myfiles
I am having the same issue. It seems all my 3rd party apps can't write on SD card. Only Samsung built-in can. I am on G930U snapdragon rooted but no custom recovery. Flashed xposed framework (xposed-v85.1-sdk23-arm64-custom-build-by-wanam-20160530) via Flashfire and installed the Marshmellow SD card module and restarted phone. I still can't delete files from 3rd party app such like a music file within Jet Audio music player. Phone seems to lag now esp when i am on sms. Anyone have any idea on the sd card write permission?
