[Q] My internal storage is running out of space tho I just flashed my ROM to CM11.0 - General Questions and Answers

So upon installing CM11.0 I do a wipe and after that I notice that my internal storage is having a 1.32gb free, that it looks like 3.3/4.6GB Is this normal? It is because of the OS fies? I dont have any heavy apps, So I tried exploring my internal storage and look for each folder that is big and not necessary so I can delete it to free up space. What can I do about this? I want to install some app too I tried cleaning up dalvik cache and cleaning cache
Thank you for help

Do you have any NANDROID backups? these can take up alot of space, these can be stored in side your system folder so may not be removed in a wipe

Before I uninstall an all should I go into settings and clear data and cache

If I just uninstall it without clearing data and cache will it leave any data behind that will take up space on my sd card/internal memory?

You MUST wipe your phone before going back to stock or changing any ROM unless stated otherwise.
It won't take up space on your SD card but if you don't wipe, it will take up space in your internal memory.
If you're talking about uninstalling apps, I would just uninstall it. In assuming the cache and data will be deleted as well. It doesnt hurt to experiment

Wiped Data when Flashing Roms

This is my first tablet and I've always stored my backups on an external card, so using the internal memory on the 300 brings up some questions.
When flashing a rom and wiping data, will that wipe the folders and app data on the internal memory?
Is it best to keep TWRP and Rom Toolbox (app) backups on the external SD card?
I could be wrong here, but before flashing a new (testing AOKP and CM10), I did the 'factory reset' in twrp, as I would normally wipe data & cache before flashing a new rom on my other devices... but it appears that twrp doesn't completely wipe the data partition and some of the app data was still there. Am I wrong or does twrp not touch the internal memory, other than whats in the 'data' folder?
FWIW, I'm doing twrp backups on my SD card, but RTB app backups on internal... but if flashing a new rom will wipe the RTB folder from internal memory, I'll have to start backing up to the SD.
thx for any help/advice.

I think the wipe doesn't touch either the internal or external SD cards. At least that's been my experience with CWM.

Format internal storage

How can we format internal memory (storage)? I can't find that option on settings.

That would wipe android out. You can format /data by doing a factory reset. Just don't delete /system.
So how do you reclaim lost space? I flashed Derp3D last night and now I only have 426mb of internal storage instead of 512mb. That means 86mb is now lost to the voids.
If your objective is to restore lost space then formatting the entire data partition is a rather extreme way of doing it.
Perhaps you would be better off with one of the many cleaning tools available. SD Maid, for example, can search out and remove cache and temp files as well as identifying app data that may be safely removed. ZDbox also has a cleaning tool. If you are rooted and want to go deeper then System Cleanup is a worthy option which enables you to move updates to system apps into the system partition, thus clearing space in the data partition.
Another option is to uninstall some of the bloatware which comes with stock ROMs that you don't need.

[Q] [SOLEVD] Gallery says not enough space

SOLVED This problem by format data from TWRP which cleared everything from /data completely
But was hoping to find a better solution :S
When I try to open the gallery (either the gallery itself or from the camera) it says not enough space delete unnecessary items ..... I dont have an SD card and my internal storage has alot of free space ... all this happened after i did a restore from a backup .. Any help??
I thought the backup was the reason .... I adb pushed OMEGA rom to internal memory and installed after wiping cache , dalvik and factory resetting (From TWRP) but same problem .... I dont think it's a fault in the internal memory as i can copy and delete files from it
Also the camera takes photos normally and i can take screenshots but the gallery doesnt Open

Cm12 Succesfully Flashed

Hi
I have managed to flash cm12 onto my S2 GT-I9100 and it is by far the best custom rom I have tried so far, but, when I went to flash GAPPS it stated to me that there was insufficient space, so I tried every size of GAPPS until the only one that would flash was "Pico".
My phone memory is using about 9Gb of the available 11Gb, surely when I did factory reset and Dalvik clear etc it should have wiped everything from this drive?
Maybe there are some files that I need to manually remove to free up some space?
Cheers
CM12 definitely does not need 9 GB storage. You most likely have junk files leftover in orphan directories. Use a root file manager to explore your internal storage and delete everything that you don't need. Don't delete DCIM (photos) or music directories, unless you do not care about them.
