[Q] Problem with Doogee Dagger dg550e (bought from banggood) - General Questions and Answers

The Doogee Dagger DG550e (although not listed on the Doogee website) is supposedly the version for the european market as it supports 3g band on 900/2100Mhz. I bought it from banggood. They sell both versions, the DG550 (3g: 850/2100Mhz9), and the DG550e (3g: 900/2100Mhz). I received the phone 3 days ago and found out that outside of the city I only get 2g band. I live in Croatia where the 3g band works on 900Mhz (outside of the cities) and 2100Mhz (in cities). I checked with the network operator and thay said that according to the settings and supposed phone specifications the phone should see the 3g when outside of the city, but it doesn't. Only possible answer is that the phone I received doesn't support the 900Mhz. Before I bought the phone of banggood I bought this phone here in Croatia, but returned it when I found out that the 3g outside of the cities is not supported as it was the regular Dagger dg550 (850/2100Mhz). After that I bought the Dagger dg550e of banggod and found out that the phone I received has the same problem.
What can I do? I already contacted the banggood customer service, and I'm waiting for the reply.
Is it possible that the phone lost 900Mhz 3g support after an update. I update the system (it was the regular 4.4.2. but some updates were available, so I downloaded them) before I used the phone in a rural area. Is it possible that the update somehow picked up the settings for the ¨regularˇ dg550 (that doesn't support 900Mhz), and thus I lost the 3g outside of cities
Thank you in advance for helping out
Edit: I've tried mobileuncle and the option for 900Mhz (in bandmode) is unchecked and grayed out (can't check it). I also tried returning the phone to factory settings but it changed nothing

I live in rural Nova Scotia, Canada and I had the same problem. I couldn't connect to my service providers (koodo) 3G service. When I went to settimgs ->About Phone it would say Doogee Dagger 550E. But under the battery It says only Doogee Dagger 550. So I flashed a stock rom for the 550 and got the 3G working. I then had to flash a custom rom to get the camera and gps to work properly. Now everything works and it is a sweet phone. PM me and I will send you a link to the files I used (Drivers, PC Software, ROMS, etc...)

No Service on Telecom XT network in New Zealand, Band issue 850/2100?

Hi I've had a vodafone branded Palm Treo 750v (specs below) running OK on Telecom XT in New Zealand since May '09. On Friday the 13th Of November, the carrier line on today screen showed "53005" instead of "Telecom NZ" and may have even said "o2" in the spot for a bit...but still worked. Then, from mid-day on the 13th through now (17 Nov) it's said "No service"...and meant it.
There were 3 times where I briefly (minutes) got service...twice in central Hamilton and one in Papakura (near Aucklaland). A sim card from 2degrees works in the phone when I get no service from the Telecom sim. Got a v2 simcard from Telecom today...same problem in store, but when I walked out it started working outside building in central Hamilton! When I drove out of central Hamilton today it stopped working. Despite hours on phone/email with Telecom, no solution. So, I'm thinking it might have something to do with the bands...maybe they changed something on Friday? Some clues:
The band selection is set to auto and auto. I understand Telecom runs WCDMA 850...and in some city centres it runs 2100...but my phone has only:
GSM(900+1800)+UMTS 2100
GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850)
The places where I briefly got reception match up with where there is likely 2100.
Tried re-flashing ROM, removing sim, re-flashing radio, changing band settings to manual...no effect.
Any help appreciated.
I'd swap to a different ROM - preferably a generic one.
Those Vodafone ROMs are locked down for some frequencies.
Your best bet is to follow some of the guides which let you install a different ROM on your phone - a good one give you more control of the frequencies you can choose. The MiniSD card bootloader method is what you're after.
I can't speak for NZ, as I've not been over there yet to play with the XT network, but in Australia on Telstra's NextG network, I set the network to:
UMTS ONLY
and UMTS(850)
I've found the coverage of the 850 umts network to be better than any of the others, and stopping the phone jumping between frequencies also helps things considerably.
But if Telecom haven't rolled out 850 in the urban centers yet, I'd set it to UMTS ONLY/ UMTS (2100+850).
Hi there. I should've made it clearer...phone was Vodafone branded and I upgraded to a cooked ROM that was working fine. When problem happend, I then tried a couple radios and non-cooked ROMs...same issue.
Well...since my post Telecom replaced my sim card to a V2 card. But the new sim wasn't working at telecom store...went home not hopeful but then it just started working...problem seems to have gone. Still don't know what exact issue was...but it works.
Take home point: If you have issue, try new sim card and maybe give it a few hors to work.
Hi there,
I am having the same problem on HTC Touch Pro. It is Vodafone branded. I am using NATF latest standard rom.
Does anyone have any advice? I would love a fix as I do not want to have to change networks.
From Liam
Not sure but might want to look here:
http://pdabreak.com/2008/htc-touch-pro-review/
"And here is the bad news now: It has been officially confirmed by HTC that the devices would be available as quadband, with separate versions available for North American and rest of the world markets. That means if you own the European version of the HTC Pro and afterwards fly to the US, your $1000 piece of hi-tech gadget simply won’t work on their 850mhz band or even if it does with the custom Rom pack, but in that case won’t be able to use 3G frequencies there. A disappointing fact indeed as most phones these days offer seamless connectivity to all 3G and HSPA bands throughout world. Further to agonize, the North American version won’t be available anytime sooner than December this year."

[Q] Using an N5 with China Mobile

Hey folks,
I'm looking for some advice on using my N5 (should be North American model; purchased from Play Store at home before I left for China) on Chinese 4G networks. I have done some research and it appears that all three major carriers in China (Mobile, Unicom and Telecom) use TDD-LTE pretty much exclusively (though I've heard Unicom plans to pursue some sort of integration with FDD).
I will be located in Xi'an (Shaanxi province) for about one year. Last week, I purchased a China Mobile plan that includes 4G (I think about 1gigabyte/month) and the plan took effect on Sept. 1. Currently, my N5 only works on 2G/EDGE. I've read that this is because China Mobile uses TD-SCDMA for 3G, so I can't get that. However, as per this post it seems like I should be able to follow the steps dr2001 outlined and get 4G thru TDD-LTE working on band 41.
I've tried the steps in that post to no avail (switching to "LTE ONLY" and waiting does nothing; the phone doesn't pick up a signal). I'm not sure what dr2001 meant about sending a text to activate 4g, and I haven't found any information on the China Mobile site that tells me how to do that.
Here are my questions for how to proceed:
1. Could it be that China Mobile is using band 39 or 40 in the Xi'an area rather than 41, so I'll never get any service? (I have no idea how to determine this, though I've tried through some various searches).
2. Is there anything else I can try to make my N5 4G-compatible? I'm OK with switching carriers if for some reason Unicom's (or Telecom's) 4G will work with the N5, but as per this list it seems like everybody's using band 41.
3. If I'm completely hosed, would the HTC One E8 (purchased no-contract) be a decent option? The prices here for it aren't awful (about $450 US) and it seems like it'll function OK with all of China Mobile's networks.
Random information that probably isn't relevant:
- I'm running the L developer preview/am unlocked, but my device is otherwise stock.
- baseband: M8974A-2.0.50.2.08
- serial: 04b3ea9625273eb1

Only 2G and 4G is working in Europe

I recently bought a Letv One S (X501) and I was impressed by the quality/design/hardware but, when I try to test the 2G/3G/4G connectivity I had a bad surprise. I live in Romania and we have here 4 operators, Vodafone, Orange, Telekom and Digi. The phone works only in 2G with first 3 and only 4G with Digi if a USIM is used in tray 1 (1st nanoSIM). 3G is not covered with any operator. In conclusion, I return the product and stuck with my old Galaxy S3 LTE which works perfectly 2G/3G/4G in Vodafone.
Be aware of the frequency of the phone's modem which I think is working good in China but in Europe/US will have issues.
I didn't find any solution to this issue on the local reseller support (they didn't test it before....) or the letv site
Is anyone else experiencing this issues? Was my terminal bad or it is a general thing?

LG Phoenix 2 (K371) Network mode issue

Hello,
I've got a LG Phoenix 2(K371) phone that I bought from Bestbuy and unlocked through AT&T
The phone is supposed to support the UMTS B1(2100 Mhz) frequency (as stated in specs).
I'm in North Africa right now for a business trip and unfortunately I wasn't able to get any 3G data with the local carrier that uses the UMTS 2100 Mhz frequency, I'm stuck with only 2G while my other phone works just fine.
I tried to change my Network Mode from 4G to 3G but the Network mode menu is missing!!!!!!
My questions are:
1- Does the K371 really supports the UMTS 2100 Mhz frequency ?
2- How can I change my Network mode from 4G/Lte to 3g/WCDMA?
Thanks
Did you ever get this sorted out? I am in Germany and can only get 2G also.
Same here in the UK! Only 2G.
My understanding is that either the official specifications of the phone are wrong - it doesn't support the HSDPA frequency of 2100 MHz, or (most likely) this frequency is disabled in the phone software settings since [email protected] doesn't use this frequency in the US. In any case it is very frustrating: I bought this phone convinced it is going to work while I am travelling in Europe, but obviously it doesn't as 2G data connection is useless.
Same problem in SE Asia. Phone doesn't have the right LTE bands but HSPC should work. Only getting 2G. No option in the hidden menu to change the modem RAT settings that I can see. *#546368#*371#
Anyone have any luck using the k371 overseas?
Same here...
I tried every single method I know in hopes that I could root the phone, but no luck!!!
I believe at&t disabled the said frequencies....
Our only bet is a proper root, and a custom rom..
any update on no UMTS 2100Mhz?
any solutoion on this issue?
I have found a solution. I am using it outside the US. I contacted my cellular provider, gave them the phone name (LG K371) and they sent me a text message with automatic settings for their data network. As soon as I opened it, I got a message like "data settings have been updated" and now it works on 3G and 4G without any issues. You may also be able to find these data configuration settings on your cell service provider's web site.
Seriously???
Please let me know is it AIRTEL service? since i am from INDIA.
we have the same problem in 2 mobiles..
Hmmm
I tried of calling and received setting for MMS , GPRS, INERNET but still i m seeing 2G symbol as E - edge detection
Please help me
Hi this is sainath

Sorry for a late reply, but here's the real scoop about the LG K371 (AT&T)
First, being a "cheap" LG phone, there are very few bands actually included, and they only cover the main (not all) AT&T US frequencies, therefore it's no surprise that doesn't work on all overseas carriers. Again, they are covering only major US bands, and despite what it shows on the box or specs it may not be always true. B1 (2,100Mhz) band has different sub-bands, therefore it doesn't mean that the US B1 will work on an overseas B1, let alone the air-interface (2G/3G/4G/LTE) may not all be supported even if this sub-band exists.
Second, being that it's an AT&T phone, they are knows to load firmware with major restrictions for band selection called RAT Restrictions, which cannot be undone unless you can reflash it with a non-customized firmware, but you can't do that either due to the locked bootloader. A better option is to always go with the un-customized or Tmobile K7/K8 because they always have a lot more bands enabled than the AT&T version. Better yet, go with a Samsung which have more bands even on the AT&T models.
Bottom line, "cheap" phones along with AT&T restrictions will not work everywhere, despite the specs, and there's nothing you can do about it.
And my favorite old adage is "You get what you pay for!" LOL

AT&T H900 always in "Edge"

Hello, I bought a LG v10 H900 (At & T)
But i stay stuck in "Edge" with this one, never see him un 3g / H+ / or 4G
I have Set the APN and checked several times, but nothing changes
During my purchase I did not know that the phone was an AT&T, does this include that the phone can only function with a SIM card AT & T ??
I bought it on aliexpress and the announcement said that the phone was unlocked
I also specify, I live in France, and that before the purchase I verified that the frequencies received, and the frequencies emitted by my operators are compatible.
And they are all, except for the 800mHz (but just like my Oneplus One)
Do you have an idea?
Is there a solution?
Or did I forget something ????
Thank you for your help !
