Enable unknown sources in Security and Restrictions menu to install apps to install Apps like XBMC
XBMC:

Sideload luncher:

Instaling market and gapps on stock 5699

I've been using the new stock tnt 5699 for 3 days now, it seems to be far more stable and fast than previous versions, flash plays well on almost all the web pages I've tested, it only needs market and google applications to turn it into a really useful rom. So these are the modifications to "The Viewsonic G Tablet Super Thread (w/Market, Gmail, and Maps!)" to have it up and runnig:
1. Download and install z4root
2. Run z4root and choose "permanently root" to root your gtablet
3. Download and install rootexplorer
3. Run root explorer and Mount "/system" as R/w
4. Download and unzip gtablet ( http://forum.xda-developers.com attachment.php?attachmentid=432583&d=1288749538) into your sdcard
5. Copy the contents of G Tablet\permissions to System\etc\permissions
6. Copy the contents of G Tablet\lib to System\lib
7. Copy the contents o G Tablet\APP into your system\app folder
8. Install them in this order:
GoogleServicesFramework.apk
OneTimeInitializer.apk
Talk.apk
Vending.apk
Gmail.apk
Maps.apk
9. Make sure you remount "/system" as R/O when you're done!
10. Restart your G, Connect to Wifi
11. Open rootexplorer and Mount "/system" as R/W
12. In rootexplorer long press in "/system/build.prop" and choose "open in text editor"
13. Where it says "ro.product.device=harmony" change it to: "ro.product.device=olympus"
14. Press menu button and select save and exit.
15. Perform the following steps:
Go into Settings.
Go into Applications.
Select Manage Aplications (all).
Select Market.
Select Clear Cache.
Select Force Stop.
Hit back button once.
Select Services Framework.
Select Clear Data.
Select Force Stop.
Back to home screen.
16. Open market (you should get an error message)
17. Reboot gtab.
18. Let it sort things out on its own. Go into Market.
19. Enjoy Market.
The only thing not working is the google calendar
Hope this is useful
Thanks this is extremely helpful. What are the three copied folders Permission/Lib/App needed for?
Also, are you getting any force closes with any of the apps after installing the market?
Android Market without rooting?
Is it possible to install the Android Market without rooting? Or un-root after installing the Market?
The reason I ask is movie rentals from the Android Market. Movies won't play on rooted devices. Just wishing there were some way of getting movies rentals to work.

I haven't tried it on the Gtab, but I'd look at Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper (https://market.android.com/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.otarootkeeper). It allows you to unroot/root if you're already rooted. It was developed for the Kindle Fire to re-root after OTA updates, but it also works to backup and unroot for apps that don't like root. I've used it on a couple of non-Kindle devices and it works great.
I was successfully able to run this:
- with temporary root
- using free es file explorer
The changes I did were:
2) instead of Permanent Root, I chose Temporary root. I needed to enable USB debugging first, but temporary root worked.
3) Instead of root explorer I used ES file Explorer. The Viewsonic-installed 1.x version did not work. I downloaded a newer version 1.6.1 from estrongs.com
Also, it took a few tries for market to show up under "system applications" in tap&tap's settings screen. I didn't have an "applications (all)", it may have been a root explorer thing.
I'm waiting for Market to self update like help says it will. This old version did FC on me once.
You don't even need root to install the Market on stock!

Have u tried this on an unrooted gtab? If so are the steps the same without the need to rw
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Wait a sec, does system even need rw? Without root it cant be changed to rw.

I have a question about step 3. How do you download root explorer when you don't yet have access to the Market?
[Edit] Never mind. I found an alternative method of getting gapps on to my Gtablet. It is an update file that automated the gapps install. Do a web search for "Gtablet Back to Stock w/ a few modifications" and you will find it. It is a February 22, 2012 entry of a blog entitled "Salvatore's Place"
I did the above and every thing works perfect except that I have the old market and its not updating. any help on that?

I wrote a program called OogleVox, which installs the Play Store on rooted devices. It is a little more comprehensive than these instructions and other than modifying the build.prop it sets everything up. Does anyone want to try it out? http://goo.im/devs/danifunker/OogleVox
Please post your results.

GenyToolz One Click Play Store Installation And More For Genymotion Android Emulator

GenyToolz
Tools to Help with Installation of the Google Playstore, Arm library, and Pre Installed app removal on the Genymotion Android Emulator. Essentially turning the GAPPS + ARM flash into a one button process while removing the bloatware preinstalled on the Genymotion tablet at the same time. Simply run the bat file and it will send the rom to your device through adb and automatically reboot for you.
These roms replace CW File Manager with JRummy Root browser, they also remove the developer settings app because you can always open it manually in settings without using up extra disk space. This is also helpful for those who experience problems dragging and dropping to Genymotion.
A video to demonstrate how to push apps and files, retrieve the contents of your virtual device's download folder to your pc, and instantly flash playstore+arm using the tool's batch file with adb interface.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l7gh7PbcwE
To see play store install skip to 1:42 for lollipop, 2:22 for kitkat, and 3:01 for jellybean
Remember to manually reset your Lollipop devices after running the installation script, all others will run fine without needing second reboot.
You will have a few download servers to choose from depending on which is fastest for you. Google Drive or Mega. Take note to the link you click on!
GenyToolz Download (174 MB zipped):

REQUIRES THIS VERSION OF ADB as well, all you need to do is install it. (Use the google drive link for fastest download) ADB tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
BLUESTACKS USERS: Make sure bluestacks isnt running in the background or it will cause the program to fail. Check your hidden icon tray!
TO DO LIST: Will be adding 2.3.7 Gingerbread in the future and working on other goodies specifically the network stack / mem buffer to help with certain game's playback.
Find what problem is with youtube playback
Correct the arm bridge for 4.4, 5+
All roms included are custom built to make Genymotion devices run more smoothly and be smaller file size and will be updated as more tests are done. Subscribe to receive current versions as they are released!
Note that you can right click and edit all the batch files to see what is included, it is adb shell code to remove some preinstalled apps, adb pushing of system files containing gapps, jrummy, and arm library. Feel free to add your favorite apps to the System/Apps folder to have them installed with the flash! Or you can add them later with the app pusher in GenyToolz.

The arm translation library is the same version as located in this thread:

The rest of the system files were downloaded from source goo.im and stripped of unnecessary components / apps.
Any questions or suggestions will be considered and are appreciated! Happy Day!

Bluestacks X is out. Essentially, it's a Bluestacks instance running in the cloud. Is it possible to root it?
Have tried using Kingroot and Kingoroot and neither work. BSTweaker wouldn't work here, because this is running a cloud instance of Bluestacks, not locally.
There isn't an app launcher and games launch in fullscreen. However, some apps (e.g. Guild of Heroes: Fantasy RPG) require an update from Google Play. By having access to Google Play, you can install a launcher and then go from there.
I've tried installing Magisk, but it doesn't provide an option to directly patch the ROM itself. It only supports patching a boot.img file, which I don't have any idea how to get. Looks like it's using Nougat x64.
