If you're a ROM Dev you could try porting the ROM, but using different CPU, GPU, Modem etc might be difficult to get fully functioning. I don't have time or interest to take up the challenge or assist.

Thanks for the reply
I am not good in building roms, my inquiry is as long as both have the same hardware, would it be possible to directly flash?

No. Not without certain tweaks anyway, because their model numbers etc differ. And also the camera module is different. They don't have exactly similar hardware.

I'm not a developer to comment on that. But yes I guess so. Only problem is we don't have many developers for this phone due to it's small reach.

Do you know, what needs to be adjusted?
I would love to see a custom rom for my E8 (M8Sn) and cannot find anyone who is able to help me.
It is the singleSIM version from Germany.

Unfortunately I don't. There are a few people on our forums here, CaptainThrowback and DutchDanny. They are familiar with development. Try asking them. Or contact a dev from M8 forums and ask instead, if they are free enough, they might guide you.
I'm trying to build miui 8 for e8 ? watch out!

Simple answer, no...
We would need to get some development done to port it to our phones.

It seems that different model numbers need specific roms. You can't flash a 915f rom on my 915G, tried and just get reboots. It is something that stops it working, whether its the CSC, build.prop or bootloader I don't know...

[?] if ROMs with any latter (N915-*) are mutually compatible with any N-915 device?

Hello everyone,
Might be a stupid question, but I have an SM-N915G variant and would like to try different roms on it, however each rom in description has different letter at the end of the model (W,F etc.) so the question is if I can still use it for my device.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

How to find code name of device? And compatibility question.

How do you find the code name of your device? Ex. d2att for the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Also, I think (tell me if I'm wrong) that the phones I'm looking at from Wind Mobile work with T-Mobile phones. If this is true, does that mean a ROM in the T-Mobile forum that doesn't list the exact model number of the Wind Mobile phone (ex. if it listed SM-G920T but didn't list SM-G920W8) will still work with that ROM?

Thank you again, that's weird that DuckDuckGo didn't find that .
Unfortunately, I couldn't find the devices I'm looking for there. Could you please answer my other question as well?

unfortunately i cant answer that, but i can comment on it.
there are a small amount of phones that you can flash a rom that wasnt specifically made for it, but if you cant find proof before trying, there is a real risk of permanent brick if your wrong.
take the g3 for instance (only because i know about this device),
you can take a vzw g3 and use it on tmo, but you can not flash a tmo rom on it because it is a vzw phone.
if your just talking about a rom, and not actual stock firmware, the risk of issues is still there, but generally, more likely fixable because its not flashing key partitions that could render your device unfixable.
i am in no way suggesting you try it, only because if it bricks the phone i dont want to be responsible, but if it were me, and i had a backup to restore the phone, and stock files to flash if need be, i would try it. but you would have to be in a position to buy a new phone if things go terribly wrong. if not, then i wouldnt do it.

I'm not sure if we have the same understanding. I mean just like how the Bell Samsung Galaxy S3 can flash AT&T ROMs, I'm wondering if that would be the same for Wind Mobile flashing T-Mobile ROMs even if the model number is not exactly the same (ex. flashing a SM-G920T ROM on a SM-G920W8).
And yeah, I'm talking about flashing an AOSP ROM rather than stock firmware ROM (TouchWiz, Sense, Etc).

maybe you will get some help if you ask in the specific device forum q&a of the devices you need info about. usually thats the best place to ask questions if the device specific forums exist for your models.

Thank you for the suggestion, I was thinking of doing that but I have 4 phones I'm considering getting so I thought it would come off as spamming. Do you still think I should do that?

yea go for it. maybe stagger your post a bit though. dont throw them all in at once.
Canadian here. All T-Mobile ROMs will work on our Canadian owned S6s. Sometimes an extra custom kernel needs to be flashed, but they will work.
Also, try going to download.cyanogenmod.com to search for your device, then you will see the codename at the end of all nightly zip filenames.
Good luck.

Samsung Galaxy S9+ Clone Question (ROM)

Hello,
I got a clone of S9+ and I was wondering if it's possible to re-flash another ROM. I want to do this because security patterns doesn't seem to work and it has some bugs with the UI. Also, is it possible to flash an original Samsung ROM?
Really thanks for your time, appreciate your help !

No, Samsung official firmware will not work.
Is flashing another device's firmware possible? yes...
Is it probable that you'll actually find a compatible firmware? no.
You'd have to identify everything about all of your hardware components and hardware features, then find a firmware for another device that has all of the exact same hardware. But finding a firmware from a different device that has all the same hardware is pretty much impossible.
Basically, you'll be looking for a needle in a haystack in a field of haystacks and then even if you do find a compatible firmware, it will have to be modified in some manner to work on your device.
