So I was on a 4.4 Rom slimkat for the longest time then I switched to a TouchWiz Rom alliance Rom then back to a 4.4 Rom slimkat which in on now, my problem now is that I can't seem to save data to my sd card now like I was able to before.I have read something about this but not sure how to make it to where I can download and save stuff to my sd card instead of my internal storage.any thoughts?
Something about moving/deleting all the files off of the emulated folder?
Anyone?

KitKat doesn't have write access to the micro SD card, so you have to save to phone memory then cut/copy/paste it to micro SD.

Lol no, if this were the case, how would devs ever upload a file for us to download and provide an md5 without it changing? The md5 changes once you modify the zip itself. Cut/copy/paste just moves the file.

In some cases I ran into issues doing that as well, cutting and pasting resulted in corrupted data.
The workaround is giving the file manager app root permissions, since with root there's some kind of workaround.
I use ES File Manager, had issues before I gave it root, but after I gave it root copying/moving hasn't had issues.
Well hell I probably have to format my sd card I can't even delete stuff off it, keeps saying delete failed

Get a new SD card, it might be corrupted, might be easier than trying to fix it. Plus SD cards are super cheap as it is

Yep had a new 16GB laying around the old one was corrupted
Had this happen to two 64GB cards so far. Could read them but couldn't write. Seems to be a GS3 issue with ruining sdcards

I have been lucky with it until recently lasted me two years the 64GB card did.

Easy Fix
I ran into this problem when I finally updated my phone to KitKat and a little searching around these forums resulted in the discovery of exactly what causes the problem and what fixes it. It was already mentioned that KitKat doesn't support writing directly to external SD card from apps. There are a few lines of a config file that can be changed to fix this. There is also a free app available in the Play store that does it for you, but it requires root. It's called SD Fix: KitKat and I would have included a link but I haven't posted enough times yet to post outside links.

Hi All,
I've two tablets and the internal free space in getting lower, I need to install apps directly on their external sd cards. How is it possible? All the "2SD" apps don't work.
Thank you all in advance :good:

Really...... I was under the impression that it could not be done at all.
Please tell how as I would like to know also.
Thanks.

didnt figure this out but u can use titanium and move those on the device to leave more space for other installations.
If you are rooted and on a stock ROM or ROM not using JB 4.2 (Google changed the file structure again in JB 4.2), you may be abe to use zedomax's script that swaps the internal and external SD cards. Although it's long, I would suggest reading through the entire thread as glitches with the stock ROM update to JB 4.1.2 and work arounds are addressed later in the thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1857391&page=1
I'm interested in this as well. I read a post on something called a directory bind...??? I guess that moves app data to the SD card. I currently have just over 9 gig of space left to fill (16gig model). Just put in a class 10 32gb card in last night to find out that app2sd does not work...
I read today that link2sd might work. Haven't gotten a chance to try it yet though.

I tried link2sd and the other one mentioned in this thread with no luck.
I don't really want to do the the card swap method.
So........... if anyone has another way to store apps on a mico sdhc card that truly works, I'm in.
Found app that truly works
I finally found an app that truly transfers your app data to your "extSdCard" but you do need to have root.
The app is called "Directoryblind" and can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262 and the most current file is DirectoryBind_0.2.0o.apk
The app has been out since 12-2011 with many updates since its release.
So I'm posting it on this Note 10.1 section as I have never seen it talked about in this section and I thought it may help someone else find this app.
Again it truly does work.

No, you need root. Unfortunately they made the rom in a way that keeps you from moving apps to the SD card.

No, there isn't an option to move to the actual sd card just between the internal storage and phone storage.

There's no option to move apps to the actual SD card, just between the internal storage and phone storage ..they call the internal storage the SD card. I've talked to them on the phone too ..most of them don't know what they are talking about.
On a side note a lot of people have this problem with a lot of other phones.

Hello! I think that needs another topic.
A small question about the problem with SD card on the p5100.
As of 4.1 or 4.2 google has introduced the 'cool' feature - multi-profile system.
Okay, everything is good, but with this 'cool' feature they have changed something with SD cards. Now internal memory is divided to the internal memory and internal SD-card which is considered as an external SD card. All apps are installed there, and my external SD card (32 gb) is now useless. Ofc, I can explore it on a file explorer, but the system thinks it is the second SD card and don't want to move any apps there.
And that's the problem. All apps are instaled on the internal-external SD card and the free-space is.. You know.
I can't update my apps, I can't download new apps - no memory alert.
Cyanogenmod nightly 10.2
So, is there any way to fix it, like Samsung has done to SGS3?
It's getting everything out of me.
On my phone everything is ok, but on the tablet.. :/
And please don't say google it.
I'm searching for this fix for.. months. Can't find anything so posted here.

Already tried.
"App2SD is not supported by your device. Because your Device has a primary external storage which is emulated from the internal storage. You can link the app in order to move its files to your SD card.
That's the problem.
Apps are already installed on the SD card but the wrong one.
Anyway, the emulated SD card has 10 GB free space, the 'proper' SD card has 25GB free.
When I try to update something on G Play, or install any app from my explorer - error, no enough free space.
Oh come on.
i.imgur.com/hWzliZS.png
Where is that "no enough free space"?
For a 200 KB update?!
/edit:
And I think that 'canceling the emulation' of the internal SD card will do a lot for me.. But how. :/

I don't see any app called 'root & clean master'. Anyway can't install any app because I 'don't have enough space'.
Check your internal memory using a pc and see exactly what you have stored there. Over 10GB should be enough for a 200KB update. I suspect something is wrong with your tablet.

I just got a p3110 last week and have this same issue, Its only a 8gb and I want to install apps to the sd and it will not, did you fix yours? how?
You cannot move or install apps to the external sd card. Only the internal storage. There are methods if you are rooted. Read down the forum topics. There are a few threads discussing this. But stock tablets do not install apps to the external sd card.

Install link2sd
Create a new ext3 partition of desired size in ur external sd using mini partition tool.
Then use this partition to move all your apps using link2sd...
I had done this procedure in my old galaxy y because it had very less internal storage....
I haven't checked it on my tab though... but why don't u give it a try...

My i9305T Galaxy S3 is not reading micro SD cards at all. I have tried using the cards in my computer, and they work fine. My phone, on booting has a notification that states "Preparing SD card; Checking for errors.", Then after a minute or two, has another notification stating that the SD card is safe to remove. I have tried with multiple SD cards, they all work in a PC, but not my phone.

Helium is not recognizing that I have an EXT SD Card. Also, when I backup Nova to my EXT SD card nothing is there.. So I cannot get any of my backups!

you cant unless you are rooted
kit kat does not allow 3rd party apps to write to SD card
if you are rooted then run SDFix from the market

Thanks dude! Seems it's just Helium then..
i had the same issue where SDFix didnt work for me at first check out my thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715657
the fix is in the first post, i'm not in the sprint section much anymore since i jumped ship and ran to verizon, pm me if you run into any more trouble
I don't know if this helps you're exact issue but the last ES File manager 3.1.2 i believe, has returned read/write functionality to the SD card. That update just went live 2 days ago if you weren't aware of it, but you will still need root i think. I don't have the S5 but I'm just poking around the S5 forums to see how the opinions are going with it and thought I'd point this out.
http://www.androidauthority.com/es-file-explorer-sd-card-root-370162/
I had my issue resolved. I edited the platform.XML myself and fixed it... but I thought it wasn't fixed because Helium couldn't see my EXT SD Card.... but I now realize it is a Helium problem! I am allowed to change things on my EXT SD Card, write files to there, etc.
