After I did Odin. I tried to fastboot flash recovery and it got stuck at [waiting for device] so I am stumped on what to do LOL.

Can I go back to 4.4.2 and reinstall towelroot?

Honestly idk. Have you tried towel root on 4.4.4?

Towelroot didn't work on 4.4.4. Just reflashed 4.4.2 and towelroot is now working again. I guess I will just wait for Lolipop before I trip knox!

I did CF root that was done on NE5. Everything went fine for me. Just to try, I flashed the NE5 4-1 boot. But it hung on Sprint screen. Ran my backup and I'm good. Just have to manually go to rrecovery. No worries. Though, not concerned about knox.

As far as I understand CF Auto Root will work on this. Yes, it trips Knox... but it does give root.

I'm on Nk4. Will cf auto root work?

Yes ,i just root my with cf root

So I used the CF Auto root to root my nexus 5. I have installed the omni rom and I am told I don't have root or that I need to install superuser, which i tried to do without success. What do I do? The prompt comes up when launching root apps

[ROOT] Universal root method for all variants.

hey guys, this is just a package made with my "Rickys Rom Kitchen", will root any android device with a working custom recovery!
Note: all i did was make this universal and make it a flashable zip.
So, you know the drill, your warranty is now viod, flash at your own risk blah blah.
How to root?
1. Flash philztouch recovery or any supported recovery for your device with odin - INSTRUCTIONS AND DOWNLOAD HERE
2. Make a nandroid backup from within philztouch recovery
3. Flash my universal S5 rootkit INSIDE PHILZTOUCH recovery - DOWNLOAD FROM HERE(PhilzTouch)
4. (OPTIONAL) install busybox from playstore and download my Samsung Tool app and backup EFS! - DOWNLOAD HERE
Thats all.

regarding KNOX
sorry, don't want to turn this thread into a discussion, but it feels appropriate to ask here;
once Knox is tripped, can it be re-instated?
I don't mean reducing the counter back from 0x1 to 0x0, erasing all evidence of a rooting,
rather, just allowing the device back to a secure state.
Even SM-g900a?
So this universal root method will also work on the AT&T varient?
Samsung galaxy S5 SM-g900a?
can someone confirm this working?
Will this work under Canadian's carrier?

ODIN not delivering recovery

I bought a new S5 after totaling my old one, and I am trying to get it rooted. I flash the latest recoveries from TWRP and PHILZ, odin says reset and pass, but it doesn't register on my phone. My knox is still 0x0. I just updated to NE5 so I think that may be the problem. Any solutions?

Odin is very finicky. Try changing usb cables and changing ports. That should, and normally does, fix the issue. Good luck.

Which odin version are you using? 3.07 or 3.09 that could be a problem too. I know when I was updating my modem to ne5 I couldn't use 3.07 because it wouldn't update I had to use 3.09 for it to work. It could be the same problem your having too. Just saying

If you are already rooted you can try an app called flashify, it's in the play store. It works pretty good for flashing recoveries.
I'm not rooted, I plan on flashing the recovery so I can install a ROM. Are there any reasons why ODIN would say pass but not give me recovery? I tried 2 computers so I have a feeling it's the phone.
I don't know, I've never had a problem with Odin.

I would use "Towel Root" to root your new S5 if you haven't rooted yet. Heres the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157 if you use this method it wont trip knox thus leaving knox counter at 0x0, and as far as recovery goes with NE5, use "Flashify" best app ever, root, download that app backup stock recovery with it then flash PHILZ recovery, then make back up of PHILZ recovery with Flashify. Reason I suggest using PHILZ is because it has been an on going problem with NE5 using TWRP to restore a NANDROID. These threads always help for other reasons too http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...mctr=(not provided)&__utmv=-&__utmk=231498652 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2742994
Has the same recovery worked on other s5 IF has then try other recovery.

So is it real that you need root to install that recovery?
