Is there an increase in battery life when switching from dalvkin runtime to ART?
Also what's the correct process to switch? Do I have to run a backup or anything before switching?
No need to backup. Just go into developer options then change to ART.

Any advantages to switching?
There are literally dozens of articles online that would answer your question, and then some.

Yes it is, but the very first rule of XDA is to search before posting.

Yeah art is better, better battery performance, and faster launch times. But expect a lot of app crashes because not many apps support art yet...

Thank you for your help! Think I will hold off until more apps support ART.
I've been using ART on CM for months now and not had any crashes / issues, it's entirely possible I i just haven't tried to use an application that doesn't like ART..
@arty93 you can always switch back to dalvik, so there's no harm in trying ART to see how it works for you.

Switched to ART about 6 months ago, never had an app crash because of it.
I'm getting this message when I want to switch? Does this happen regardless of what ROM you are on or is it just my ROM in particular?

You need to completely uninstall it, Xposed isn't compatible with ART.

I found out a very small useful app that went my copying from my pc to the phone from 1.7 mbps to 20 mbps. My copy speed was always that slow on all AOSP (on sense 5 however it's good). So the app is called Multi Mount SD-Card. Be careful not to use system's mounting option just use this app to mount the sdcard on the pc. Hope I helped you!
Thanks, I'll try it

it works! average speed 9MB/s from usually 1.7:good:
It only gets up to 6mb per second
Does this app happen to decrease the time it takes for the sd card to mount?
My computer has been taking ages lately!

The reason this happen is because windows is loading MTP for some reason so slowing mass storage down. You can fix this disabling it like in my pic.

Look in the Xposed thread, there should be a module to disable camera sounds.

I'm pretty sure that also with a full stock N5, if you put the phone in Silent mode, the camera shutter doesn't make the "blink"

Some background info:
Nexus 5
Unlocked Bootloader
TWRP
Running Purity Rom
I have been running this Rom for about 2 months with no major issues. Now I am being prompted to do an OTA to 4.4.3. If I was stock that would be normal and expected but I am not sure what to do in my situation. I can not stop the prompt, I clear it from my notification window and it just appears back in 10 seconds or so.
I have tried to figure it out but cant find anything on the Purity thread, and I cant post my question there because I don't have 10 posts...
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I apologize if this answer is in a million places and I didn't see it.
Do not accept the OTA. Flash another rom if you want rid of the notification

With that being said, Is it even possible to update the ROM I'm currently using without doing a wipe. They have released a few new versions since I flashed.
I use cataclysm and I don't want to switch roms. Does any one know how to remove the update notification? I've never had arom ask me to install it before

I am in a pretty similar situation. At this point I'm happy with the stability and performance of the build I'm on. Upgrading to 4.3.3 isn't a huge concern at this moment. I just don't have the time to reconfigure all applications and settings if I have to do a wipe.
Figured out I out if you disable viewing notifications from the Google play services app the notification will go away.

Reading Puritys thread, you can dirty flash it, but do it at your own risk. I read quite a bit of success doing it.
I run Purity 4.4.3 and it's really nice.
But like I said, either disable it if you don't care for the update, or try a dirty flash.
Or back everything up, and wipe, then flash and then restore.
But I take no responsibility for what may happen if you dirty flash, or anything.

I forgot to come back and update this thread. The issue for me was resolved by doing a dirty update, with no wipes at all. Obviously do a nandroid back up in your respective recovery first.

There is a good assortment of CM 12 ROMs available, however CM 12, as a 'full' spectrum DD, is just not "aged" enough yet for me. I am using an updated, rooted OEM, and am very happy with it.

Well are u rooted or stock. If u stock then factory reset. Something hung up. If u rooted what rom what kernel what baseband
I.D.F.W.Y.
From the recovery mode, I would wipe cache and dalvik cache... then reboot. Run it for a while and see if it levels out.
If not, then I might do a factory reset.

Hey @BACARDILIMON
I have a quick question about my battery drain. I am on locos breakdown R1.1 and arter97 kernel. Read about the cell standby and the android as a bug on lollipop.
Looking forward to hearing an input on this and if there is any way to avoid that?
Thanks in advance
