Divx movies are AVI's
Opps... Sorry, just a blond moment... lol...
nice, the player doesnt play ANY of my divx movies
Lol...!!! Now thats wat I was talkin about...
I use TCPMP to play all of my xvid and divx movies. I also use pocket divx encoder to compress it again for playback on my phone specifically. Every movie / tv show I put on play smoothly.
TCPMP and pocket divx encoder are both free. Just a quick google away.
Wat about the core player? I use that on my s60 to play every damn format...

I've never tried core player (mainly because it isn't free); however, from what I have read - it is a very good and stable program.
Hmmm... Might as well try your solution then... lol...

Keep in mind that I havn't tried the program that this thread is all about. You movies might work if you use pocket divx encoder for this as well. I don't really know. I am not interested in trying it myself as I am extremely happy with TCPMP myself
Does TCPMP play all the formats including M4A?

I believe it does. I Just checked and it is in the supported format list. I have it associated to play these; although, I personally have not tried. Don't have anything in M4A format
Edit : we should not talk about TCPMP anymore in this thread as this is not the topic of this thread. There are threads in this forum that talk about TCPMP.

MP3, WMA, WAV, AC-3, ASF, AMR, Ogg Vorbis, DivX, XviD, MPEG1, MPEG4-SP, WMV, AVI
TCPMP became Core player, its not free but its much better.
I will have to give the one the OP posted a try and see how it works, if it can do what Core / TCPMP can I'll give it a go, free stuff is always welcome.
Yeah I know... Free is the best innit...!!!
Take a look as this forum for TCMP (Core Player) details.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=421722&highlight=core+player
IF you search the Diamond forums using the key words "Core Player" then you MIGHT find a 4Shared download link for the lastest CorePlayer cab file????
Take care

m4b to mp3

anyone know of a good (free) converter. I tried a prog called "Free m4b to mp3 converter" but it is limited to 120MB per file. my files are 350 MB
Do you mean m4v? I've never heard of m4b...
The files i have are m4b iphone audio books. They play on my computer with quicktime but I would like to play them on my captivate. Sadly none of the audio book players in the att android market work for m4b.
Just google search Step by Step Guide on How to Convert M4B to MP3 as well as Split M4B with the Powerful M4B to MP3 Converter
you will find a step by step guide on how to convert M4B to MP3, MP2, AU, AAC, AC3, AIFF, WMA, WAV, and OGG and automatically split the converted M4B by chapter
M4B is the file extension for audio-only MP4 files. It is widely used by podcast and audiobook downloaded from the Apple iTunes store. However, most iTunes audiobooks can only be played on authorized computers using iTunes or on certain iPod player. In order to play M4B audio file with non-iTunes media player or non-iPod MP3 players, it is necessary to convert M4B to MP3, WAV, AAC and more common used audio format.
Why dont you simply download some Audio / Video converter from web? There are so many converters available online but before going to download or purchase, find out the best M4B to MP3 converter like Faasoft Audio Converter.

Your phone should already have this ability built in. If it doesn't play WMA files, then you need to get your phone checked out.
From HTC's website:
What file types are supported by the Music Player on my device?
Your device can support the following audio file types: aac, amr, ogg, m4a, mid, mp3, wav, and wma.
I just tried to play a wma file in the HTC music player and it said it was an unsupported file type. Poweramp played it fine though. Anyone else have this issue?

Android phones Record video in 3gp? Am i dreaming?

i wanted to ask what is the deal with 3gp video recording on desire hd and htc hd2 custom android rom... I can't understand why android phones record video in 3gp??? i have desire hd and hd2 both record in 3gp file type... Does this mean that all android phones record video in 3gp? Can i somehow make my phone record in mp4 or some other video format? And after this, i officially say that desire hd is my last phone with android until they make avi or mp4 recording... I am happy i have a windows phone...
3gp's are basicly mp4's with a diff audio codec. Just rename it to mp4 and you should be fine.

@king_slavcho: 3gp, avi and mp4 are just containers. Knowing the container tells you nothing about which video and audio formats are inside, all three of them can store several different formats.
@InfiniteRisen: It's not a given that audio will be different, as 3gp can also store AAC audio. And just renaming the filename is *not* the thing to do, as the containers are slightly different. It might work most of the time, but that's just by chance.

As someone who has programmed using the FFMPEG API--which is considered the standard in the media encoding world-- I can vouch for what this man says; The AVI, MP4, m4v, etc are just formats(or 'containers' if you will) that hold the encoded video information. 3gp is probably more ARM friendly though.

[Feature Request] RTMP support

Hello!
Actually there are no video players for Android, that would support Adobe's RTMP protocol, which is used to do almost every live stream playable with Flash Player (eg. YouTube, Justin.tv, Ustream, etc.). As MX Player's base, FFmpeg already supports librtmp, adding RTMP support is just a matter of one switch passed to configure script. Is it possible to see this feature in next MX Player version?
I thought MX could already handle those formats? Unless their streaming protocols changed again without us noticing...

MX Player supports formats streamable by RTMP such as FLV container, H.264, Sorenson H.263 video codecs, AAC, Nellymoser audio codecs, etc. but doesn't support RTMP itself. Try to open any "rtmp://" URI with MX Player, you'll get an error message.
Ah, so that's what you mean. Well, wait and see what the developer replies.

Actually I do not have many words to say about networking issue. MX does not have its own network routine but just use ffmpegs. And it has so many limiations.
We are going to improve networking in the futuer.
Thanks
