[Feature Request] RTMP support - MX Player

Hello!
Actually there are no video players for Android, that would support Adobe's RTMP protocol, which is used to do almost every live stream playable with Flash Player (eg. YouTube, Justin.tv, Ustream, etc.). As MX Player's base, FFmpeg already supports librtmp, adding RTMP support is just a matter of one switch passed to configure script. Is it possible to see this feature in next MX Player version?

I thought MX could already handle those formats? Unless their streaming protocols changed again without us noticing...

MX Player supports formats streamable by RTMP such as FLV container, H.264, Sorenson H.263 video codecs, AAC, Nellymoser audio codecs, etc. but doesn't support RTMP itself. Try to open any "rtmp://" URI with MX Player, you'll get an error message.

Ah, so that's what you mean. Well, wait and see what the developer replies.

Actually I do not have many words to say about networking issue. MX does not have its own network routine but just use ffmpegs. And it has so many limiations.
We are going to improve networking in the futuer.
Thanks

Playing hardsubbed .mkv files with DICE player...

is there any way to do this? playing the files using moboplayer shows the subtitles, but not with dice player...
Also, any idea why it doesn't work?
Err, unless I'm mistaken, they are soft-subbed, which means I'm dumb, ignore this topic!
MKV embedded subtitles are not supported.
I think we can solve this problem, just after optimizing audio codecs( adding NEON support )
Oh sounds good, just extracted .ass subtitles from all the .mkvs and converted them... Would be nice to be able to skip that hassle, thanks for the answer!

You are almost certainly missing the correct CODEC for your pirated movies to play back right.
Try using Google.

If you are trying to say that even playing these movies locally on a PC gives you video and no sound then you've got two options;-
1) There is no sound in the video
2) You're missing the CODEC you need to hear the audio
When you run diagnostics from DivX (I assume that you are actually using a decent player and not just Windows Media Player) what CODEC does it say was used to create the audio stream?
And this really isn't the right place for this thread either. XDA is a MOBILE PHONE DEVELOPMENT SITE - that's the third time I've told someone that today. If you can't fix it then post in the Off-Topic forum where it should be, in the **Desktops and Laptops Thread**

It doesn't matter what player you use. If the CODECs aren't on your system then the apps can't decode the audio stream. Why is that so hard to understand?
Can you get any of those files to play properly on any other device?

VLC has all the possible codecs you could ever need to play .mkv files, in other words, it's not a codec issue. Why is that so hard to understand?
OP, does this problem apply to any and all mkv files? Have you checked all the sound related settings, drivers etc. on the pc? Is it definitely just mkv files that are the problem?

I don't make it a habit to state things as a fact if I'm not certain about them.
VLC does NOT come with all the CODECs as it is not allowed to install any proprietary (read copyrighted) CODECs. If you don't believe me then the OP at least might find this page on AfterDawn useful as it also contains links to some of the more common CODEC packs.
Important Note: While VLC will work for most MKV files you will find, the package does not include any proprietary codecs. RealVideo and ON2 VP6 are examples of codecs not packed with VLC for this reason. Therefore with VLC, if you get a Matroska file that contains RealVideo, you are pretty much in the dark and will have to look for another playback option.

This is the exact reason why I asked the OP to run diagnostics from his software and post what CODEC the software says was used to create the audio stream.
But, as usual on this forum at the moment, people don't read the rules, post in the wrong place, don't actually bother to do what the people who are trying to help them ask them to do etc etc etc

I never said VLC comes with all the codecs, but since it has open source alternative for just about any audio/video stream you can pack in an mkv and throw at it, VLC practically has "all the possible codecs you could ever need to play an mkv file", which on the other hand means OP most likely does not have a codec problem. I suggest you look into codecs more closely and hone that reading comprehension of yours.

There is zero ambiguity there - you are stating, explicitly, that any .mkv file will play on VLC because VLC has "all the possible codecs". That is simply not true.
Without the OP replying and telling us what CODEC the audio stream was encoded with it is impossible to state whether VLC should work with that stream - heck, the OP may even be using an old version of VLC with less CODECs than the current version.
And none of this matters one iota anyway - this thread shouldn't even be here, as I pointed out quite clearly yesterday.

You just so happened to leave out the rest of the sentence, the italicized part was the relevant bit. But in any case OP seems to have lost interest.

[Feature request] MPEG-DASH

Hi all
With the advent of HEVC and 4K everybody is talking about DASH, will MX player support it in the future?
I have tested and so far it doesn't seem to work with v1.7.28 on a Xperia Z1 Compact.
Thanks!
MX Player plays whatever is supported by ffmpeg, as MX uses ffmpeg as a base. If ffmpeg supports it in a later build, then MX will eventually support it as well when the MX developer ports the next ffmpeg build into MX Player.
If this format isn't currently supported by ffmpeg, I suggest you go ask on their support forum first. If they already support it, then it will be updated in MX when the developer ports ffmpeg over on the next update.

For playback of DASH content, you can use the bitdash MPEG-DASH players, it's free for non-commercial use cases.

Interesting, though, I don't know if and how @bleu8888 can integrate that with the ffmpeg stuff that's currently used.

[Feature Request] Torrent streaming with save option

Hi,
First I'd like to thank all who contributed to the amazing MX Player. I literally cannot replace it with any other player.
I would love to see a torrent streaming feature with save after finish option on MX Player. If the developer could make this happen I would appreciate it.

If anything, that isn't so much something for MX to implement, but more of for the Android torrent clients to implement. The torrent client would need to be able to sequential download then buffer the video to MX as a stream -- not really something that's to be done on MX's side.

Right, which really isn't something MX should be getting into, the torrent side. For example on PC, uTorrent would provide the video to an external player (ie MPC-HC) as a video stream. See this article for a brief explanation: http://www.guidingtech.com/6880/how-to-enable-video-streaming-in-utorrent-3-0/
Again, I wouldn't think that MX would be the one to handle the torrenting; it should be a torrent app that's made to pass a video stream to MX, so this isn't really an MX feature request per se in my opinion.

Yes, There are some apps like showbox which are designed to stream the contents to Video Players. Adding torrent protocol to a Video Player may not be a good idea.
Anyhow, ultimate decision is to be taken by bleu8888 who is the developer of the Player. But, I don't thing he will implement it in near future since he has lot of feature requests in que.

Getting into torrenting also opens up another can of worms in the form of DRM and copyright -- best not to get entangled in that. I'm sure that eventually in the future, there will be an Android torrent app that can pass video streams.

Not comparable.
On PC you have a large screen to juggle and drag between different programs.
On mobile, not so much.
I want to click a link and start watching.
Not click a link, get thrown into some other app with a bunch of tiny settings, then have click on something else inside that app to then open the player app and start watching.
@doingthelordswork MX Player is a playback app. Downloading is out of the question. Torrents are NOT steams, and therefore you simply cannot just click and watch. Download the file, then give the file to MX Player to play.

MX Player question

I am using Samsung Galaxy On5. I enjoyed VLC player a lot with streaming that enable closed captioning (Not subtitle). MX Player doesn't have that. I am aware that MX Player have subtitles for movies but I am talking bout streaming like HBO, ABC news, and etc. Can you add it please ? Many streaming apps required MX Player to download and doesn't have an option to changed to VLC Player. Can you kindly to add closed captioning to that ? I am deaf and MX Player is very curious program that I like but I prefer VLC Player due is that it supports closed captioning and subtitle (such as .srt .ssa and etc). You only support subtitle (such as .srt .ssa and etc). Please addition closed captioning because of my streaming apps have ABC news etc that are lacking to enable closed captioning. VLC does supporting it. You don't have that. Hope to hear from you soon.
