hi,
with Verizon's m8, how does the data connection signal symbol look like?
i mean, for 3G, do you see an H? for lte, do you see LTE or 4G?
thanks
Stock is 3G and 4G.

Ever since I been having my Inspire I never seen 3G show up on my status bar. I always see H+ available, H+ connected and E. Never seen 3G yet, what's up with that.

H+ is AT&T's work toward 4G and its faster than your 3G, they have provided this service to all their customers. This is something that happened a few weeks ago...

ATTs stock ROM uses an H+ icon to indicate connectivity to 3G (UMTS), 3.5G (HSDPA), and "4G" (HSPA+). They do this to make customers think that they're ocnnected to "4G" HSPA+ all the time, even when it's not available in your area. Stock ROM also has an E icon for EDGE. Most of the ported DHD ROMs have an E icon for EDGE, a 3G icon for UMTS, and an H icon for HSDPA and HSPA+. The only way you can tell for sure what network you're connected to is by going to Settings - About Phone - Network and looking at your Mobile network type. This will tell you which network you are actually connected to
H is the 3G icon. that is just the way att is displaying it. you wont see 3G as they are calling it H. H stands for HSDPA which is 3g, so no worries you are fine.
Hey.
My 3G connection showing as 4G?
Why is that, I see a 4g icon instead I should see a 3g icon......
How can I fix it?
Thanks
Inspire 4G = "4G"... so what's this "H+" icon?
It represents HSDPA, which is just an enhanced 3G, I'm assuming... so where's the "4G" icon, and why don't I have it?
Also, what is "HSPA"? My connection is showing as HSPA+ >.>.
H stands for HSDPA. H+ stands for HSPA+ which is what the USA carriers are "pretending" is 4G. its really fake 4G. HTC obviously feels otherwise, and named it properly as "H+" which is what it is.
its all HSDPA anyway so it dont matter. LTE is the proper 4G and it will be here later this year...but inspire wont work with it.

LTE isn't 4G either.
Both hspa+ and LTE have similar speeds, with LTE slightly higher. The difference between Verizon and ATT is that Verizon phones will fall back onto evdo when not in an LTE area, which is slow as hell. ATT customers will fall back onto hspa+, which is still pretty fast.
all stock inspires are HSPA LOCKED!
lame of course.
Fully modify your android, you can start by my thread
has links on how to root etc.

once HSPA is unlocked i get upwards of 4.3mb some get more.
HSPA = "3.5G" diff not 4 G LTE
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Speed_Packet_Access
AT&T will eventually be super fast! i mean 4.3 is good
i am in orlando FL hspa is storng here full bars always H
I don't want to sound stupid or anything but I did a search and couldn't find any answers...
Q: I have CM7 flashed (regardless of nightly build or R1) and I can't tell if I'm in Edge/3G/4G. How can I tell if I'm getting 3G or 4G at all?
Thanks!
H = hspa+ = 4g/3g
E = edge = 2g

Thanks! From what you've told me H is both 3G and 4G, is there a way to tell if it's in 3G or 4G or it's just H for both?

When idle cm7 will stay on 3g and switch to 4g when your using data to help conserve battey life. 3G has a 3G icon and 4G has the H icon.

HSPA+ is an evolution of 3G technology. T-Mobile markets it as 4G since the speeds are comparable with other current 4G networks. The "H" symbol is actually more accurate a representation of which you're connected to because its an HSPA+ network.

Not with the G2X. The icon always says "H" because the phone is always connected to the HSPA network.
I remember with my Nexus One it would say 3G and then switch to H when it was downloading something. But that's because the N1 was only capable of HSDPA (high speed downlink packet access), not full HSPA+, so it would say "H" when it was downloading data to the phone and otherwise would display 3G.

There's also a G symbol available if you can't even get EDGE network. Found that out a couple days ago.
well everyone i rooted my Inspire 4G and recently i have been getting 3G when i should have HSPA+ right now but its switching between the H+ symbol and the 3G symbol back when it was unrooted all i had was Edge (2G) and HSPA+ so idk but i need conformation that my phone is still in prime condition please help! and thanks if you do
From the dialer, type *#*#4636#*#* and see what it shows for network type. Mine shows HSPDA which is faux g. If it shows UMTS, then you are on 3G.
The symbols are different as to which ROM you have installed. They seem to mean very little as your real connection.
Thanks guys!
