[App] Root FTP server

Hi guys,
here is a new FTP server which runs on your rooted phone and enables you to remotely access all of your files on your phone for read/write (even /data, /system and / itself). If you like it, you can find it on Google Play.
Current version is: 1.20
Developer's page is here: http://waterdev.com/apps/rftp
Tutorial: http://www.goodandevo.net/2011/05/h...-evo-root-file-system-from-your-computer.html
Video tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kd1p0SAx9J8
----------
More info:
----------
Root FTP Server is an utility (ftp server) for Android to remotely access the file system with root privilegies over FTP protocol. You can access everything, even your /data /system or even / folder with read-write permissions. There are no restrictions. For that to work, you need a rooted phone. It really wont work without it. You also need to connect your mobile to the network (probably by wifi).
Instructions:
* Connect to your wifi network. Your computer must be able to reach your phone.
* Install the application.
* Press the start button, be patient, the installation will take a while. Once it is done, you will be asked for your user name. (If you have Superuser app, please see below.)
* Press the start button again, the server will start.
* Use any ftp client you like to access your files.
Issues:
* If you have the Superuser application installed, you MUST check "remember" and then click "enable".
* If your phone is not rooted, the server will NOT install.
* There is no password! Your username acts as a password as noone should know it. If you are prompted for a password, just hit enter (no password).
Connecting:
Use any ftp client. Totalcommander, windows explorer or whatever you like. The server runs at port 21. For passive connections, it uses ports 29000-30000. It is fully enabled ftp server with many features on. Url to connect will look like: ftp://[email protected]:21, or just ftp://192.16.1.1 and you will be prompted for you username and password. The username is what you entered in the application, password is empty (no password). If you are using windows explorer, please enter url in this format: ftp://[email protected] to your URL bar (e.g. ftp://[email protected]).
The server actually installes into your device to be available even without your sd-card. It will take about 1MB of space.
If you find any bugs contact me at [email protected]!
Well, what's the difference between yours one and SwiFTP, or even Samba? I'd prefer last one for it's stability, performance and functionality. (nothing personal, man)
Well, one big difference is that in Swiftp (not quite sure about samba) you cannot browse through data folder, you cannot download files there, you cannot write to the system directory etc. With Root FTP, you can. It does not have any of these limitations, it allows you to do anything on the filesystem.

Thank you, I appreciate any comments.
I updated the application and it now supports USB mode. That means that you can comfortably connect your phone to PC via USB and access the filesystem with root privileges from any file manager you like. For further instructions, visit the homepage.
A great new tutorial came out at www.goodandevo.net! Thanks to Gary.
Bought the full version, coiuldnt get it to work on my 3.1 xoom. Is this a known issue?

Hi, no, I have not tested it on devices 3.0+. However, if you could send an email at [email protected] (or just PM me) with a description of your problem, it would be very helpful. In case we cannot solve it, I will happily send you a refund.

Bought this server and it works well but it is preventing my phone's screen from sleeping. No idea why that would be, very strange.
The app was updated. It now runs fine on Jelly Bean, has slightly improved design and some bugs were fixed.
Doesn't there need to be a free XDA version to advertise it here? Or did I miss it somewhere?

Sorry, don't understand. What do you mean?
[ANNOUNCEMENT] To Devs, please read
"And remember, no links to payware and no limited beta's."
"You may use XDA for customer feedback of commercial software but no links to app."
Ok, I got it. I removed the link to the market. I guess it was here before such rules were imposed.

Root FTP server does not work on Galaxy note3 (N9005) running KitKat 4.4.2.
Is there any log file to prove what is the problem pls. ?

[App] SyncIt Public Beta

*** THIS IS A BETA PROGRAM ***
(Though it is fully function)
SyncIt is a basically a Dropbox extention, it uses the Dropbox API and your Dropbox Account to keep any specified file updated in you Dropbox as well as on any other Android devices with SyncIt installed.
What this means is say you have to have a certain game always up to date on all of your android devices? Well simply select it in SyncIt and have it installed on both devices and SyncIt will monitor that file and keep it up to date on both devices.
*** How To Use ***
Device 1 - Simply use the built in file explorer to select any file or folder(Pro) you wish to sync. They will automatically be uploaded as the files are updated. If you wish to add another device first go and long-press the given file/folder and click "Backup" for all of our files/folders listed.
Device 2-Ect - Simply login to, the files will be downloaded. Then go long press each file/folder and click "Restore". Once done for each file/folder you are ready to go. This is a one time process.

This is a great idea, thanks! I'm gonna try this on my Atrix/Cap. Does anybody know what directory most games save their progress files to.? Lately I have been playing PvZ, Peggle & Cut the Rope.

This app supports both regular file system and root file system. For plants vs zombies it is /data/data/com.popcap.pvz/ but I personally have not gotten pvz to work. But I used the hd version n regular version. If u have the sane version it should work. In the pvz dir ure gonna wanna sync /files/userdata/user.dat n user1.dat(there will b more if u have more users)

I like the idea of this app, but can't completely test it out because my tablet is at home at the moment. I have some questions. I have tested sharing a file, but it hasn't been uploaded to dropbox. I just have the SyncIt folder and the xml file in my dropbox. Do I have to have it installed on another device before it will upload? Any ideas what files I need to sync Angry Birds Rio and Cut the Rope? I was thinking about just syncing titanium backup files, but the actual data files would be more convenient.

No it should upload with just one device, but the version up right now is quite outdated now. I will upload a new version hopefully tomorrow. With this release there will b a paid ($1) n free version. Both versions are fully functional with the free version being linked to syncing 5 files. The full is unlimited with the additional feature if syncing while folders (dynamically).
As for angry birds this app works great for it (i use it for this my self lol) u would want to sync.
/data/data/com.rivio.*.files/.flurryagent.*
/data/data/com.rivio.*.files/highscore.lua
/data/data/com.rivio.*.files/settings.lua
Syncing these work, idk if they are all required tho.

I would be happy to pay for an app that does this. I am actually surprised it hasn't got more attention. I imagine google eventually adding a native solution much like how apple has icloud to backup/sync application data. Anyway, I still haven't been able to get it to upload anything. The xml file in dropbox lists the file name I tested, but that file isn't in the SyncIt folder in my dropbox. I then deleted the first file I chose to sync in the app, and then chose the 3 files you mentioned for Angry Birds. However, the xml file has not been updated to reflect the new files, and nothing has been uploaded to dropbox. I'm running a version of CM7.1 (Android 2.3.4) on my Evo. I suppose I can just wait for the updated version. I do have some suggestions for future versions of the app. Using a file explorer to share with the app only lets you choose one file at a time (unless there is some other file explorer program that will let you). If you allowed file choosing within the app, you could probably allow for folders and multiple files. Also, what would be really cool is if you could just choose from a list of apps the data you would like to sync. I assume this is possible since Titanium Backup lets you backup and restore app data associated with an app. Also, a few more control settings would be nice like only sync while connected to wifi and/or while plugged in.
EDIT: also, every time I turn my screen on a get a Loading Finished bubble a few seconds later.

Yes SyncIt runs every time u turn your phone on or off(thats when it checks if there is anything new). While this sounds like a bad idea(battery wise) the way ive implemented it it uses very little. I will most likely remove the "Loading Finished" toast.
As i said in my prior post(but did not elaborate on, or maybe i didnt say it. im to lazy to look xD). The new version will support adding files from external file explorers as well it will have a internal file browser that supports root. With it you will be able to select files(not multiple tho, maybe in an update) and folders. When selecting a folder it will sync all files in all sub folders up to a certain cumulative size(dont wanna kill dropbox lol).
IDK why my ur version wouldn't work, tho to clear it out completely u would need to delete the syncit folder in dropbox online then clear the cache of SyncIt. Otherwise it will just download the version from dropbox. New version will have an option to clear all.
Will this work with every game bc I have to admit their are quite a few games that I hate having to start over again just bc I got another android device to play it on.

Honestly its trial & error. I have tried with two games Plants vs Zombies and Angry Birds, PvZ did not work(very sad about this) but Angry Birds did. These are the only two games ive tried.
Well, I eventually tried this on my asus transformer and got it to upload to Dropbox. It did start syncing to my phone and all my progress from angry birds on my tablet synced over to my phone. However, when I completed a level on my phone, that would not sync back to the tablet. I did get my phone to upload to Dropbox, though, after reinstalling the program. However, when I turn my tablet on, my tablet won't download the from Dropbox. When I open angry birds back up, none of the progress from the the phone is there. Then, I go to my phone and my old progress from the the tablet is synced back to the phone and I have to complete the level again. I will keep testing to see if I can get it to work correctly. There are definitely some bugs. Sometimes I get a force close on my phone. Also there is a big delay in asking for root permissions. I completely uninstalled/reinsalled it from my phone yesterday and it wasn't till today that it asked for root permissions.
will this remain free after the beta period ?
great idea. i've been thinking about this for a while. how about making it with an extensible architecture so that people can register plugins for certain games such as 'PvZ' or 'Angry Birds' with options such as HD, non-HD (tablet/phone) free/paid, etc... and with multiple (relative?) paths pointing to the directories with files that need to be sync'ed. this way, people won't have to manually add directories. this would probably drive more user adoption.
i used to do this on my ubuntu laptops to sync firefox pref's and such. it's great that you actually implemented it. thanks!

I thought i had discussed tho i guess not. After beta there will be a Paid and Free version. As of right now free version will be limited to selecting specific files and a total of 5(maybe more) to sync. The paid version will be able to sync whole folders(as long as the total size of its sub files are under a set limit, dont wanna kill ur phone/battery/dropbox lol) and an unlimited # of files.
As to the user below "Plugins" would be easy to do, hard part would be distributing them.

Look above , tho what do you mean such as "HD, non-HD) ect?
Also update on SyncIt it is damn near done, i should have finished the RC already actually. All functionality is done(minus plugin architectural mentioned above), i simply need to restructure it so that all the functions run in the background. Which in the scope of everything is fairly easy.
EDIT: Also i have no intention of charging more then $1 for this .
Ha, ya near me too it. I'd been thinking of this as a backup app for a while. Now that I have a tablet I started playing with the dropbox api to write it. Looking forward to testing it.
Can this handle file system files (ie use root)? Does it sync the ownership/permissions correctly?
Perfect timing for me - looking into a tablet and was wondering how to sync things. When this works (still in beta, so bound to be bugs), this will cover anything file based!
My initial thought that I was wondering how I would deal with - how to synch my location in eBooks. Now just need to see where that info is stored in iReader & Cool Reader & Kindle (for non-kindle books).
--
Edit: With only 1 device (for testing) is there a way to tell the phone - "Go look for new versions of the files in dropbox now!" So when/if I manually change something via my pc, it will copy to the right place on my phone?
Thanks
This app is a great idea! A little buggy on the stock evo4g running 2.2
Tends to force close periodically after locking up. Have had to uninstall/reinstall three times.
Are you anywhere near an update?

[APK]Need WIFI DIRECT Here is the solution - FAST FILE TRANSFER

Guys,
Here the search of WIFI Direct Ends. How..?? By this Tremendous APK called Fast File Transfer
Fast File Transfer is an alternative for Bluetooth file sending.
The app uses Wi-Fi Tethering for establishing a connection between the devices but does not need the Internet.
Due to its high speed, this technology is especially recommended for sending big files. My transfer speed is around Max 15Mbps(approx).
It is compatible with all devices & all Android Version[tested over Note 1, Note 2, MMX A110, Xperia Neo V & our Galaxy R with GB to JB / CM10.1 Android Versions]
Click here for download from Play Store -> Download
How does it work..??
Just install the APK & turn it on.
Enter User ID (as per you wish else it will provide by itself) & then choose 8 Digit Password.
Now select the any files using file explorer->choose send -> touch over "Fast file Transfer"
It will initialized the process
Now, jst ask 2nd party(who actually need the file) to turn on the WIFI & pair it with your WIFI hotspot connection.
It will give you IP address(Dont worry it will not charge to your internet connection)-> put the same in 2nd party's internet browser & tap enter.
Wollhaaaaa..you can have the File with max transfer speed
Credits:
Florian Draschbacher
siwy_hct - for reminding us the same - Thanks should be given to him.
You guys can also try kies air (for those on stock rom), ipmsg, airdroid, wifi file transfer.
All these apps require a portable hotspot option in one phone and a browser in the other device in which you wish to transfer the files to
From my CM10.1 powered galaxy R
Kies air works on cm also. I tried today. But problem is it detects only /mnt/sdcard and not /mnt/emmc. Weird. On stock rom, as we know external sd was mounted as /sdcard/external-sd so it was detectable.
About the wifi direct, a lot of such apps dont use wifi direct as they work on most devices.
Google just provides preliminary support for wifi direct in os, as adam told, and the APIs and samsung actually made an app out of it, though it looks like hooked up to touchwiz.
There are apps that actually use wifi direct and not need a hotspot. I just saw one named wifi shoot but its paid, there's a free version but it just sends photos and videos. I think there should be other such apps.

Introduction:
LAN drive is an easy SAMBA Server for Android (iOS & WM10) devices.
Access all your phone files - InternalStorage,SDCard,ExternalHDD - in read/write remotely with common softwares :
MAC OS Finder
Windows File Explorer
ES Explorer
VLC
Kodi
Any SMB client capable app
You just have to be on the same network (WiFi) to make it work.
There are 3 default network sharings activated :
'LANdrive' : storage bound with the app (deleted when you clear cache of the app)
'Root' : "/" access
'InternalStorage' :
'SDCard'|'HDD': Any other external storage automatically detected
You can create your custom sharings too (bound to the app or select one with file picker)
The app is free with an InApp purchase for unlocking the bandwidth (0.5 MB/s in trial) and remove ads, otherwise all is functionnal.
We released it first at the end of January 2018 and are looking for feedback and help in making LAN drive the best it can be.
Presentation Video:
Works without ROOT:
Read the tutorial inside the app (works on Windows / MAC / Linux)
Features:
Copy/paste/rename files and folders on your device with MAC OS Finder, Windows File Explorer, Android ES Explorer, etc.
Access the 'external' storage (Photos and Videos included) in your device as a network shared folder.
Access the Root folder and all directories including SD Cards or external HDDs as network shared folders
View your multimedia files with embedded mediaplayer (or external app).
Your device name appears automatically in MAC OS Finder, Windows File Explorer, Android ES Explorer, VLC, Kodi etc.
Manage your device name (NetBios) and Workgroup name.
3 authentication types : Anonymous with popup confirmation, Anonymous and Users with custom rights
Manage users and create your own shared folders with credentials.
View users connected and disconnect them.
Unlimited connections (several users can access your sharings at the same time)
5 languages : English, Spanish, French, German, Italian.
Launched as a service in the background : Access your SMB server while using other apps
Optionally start the app after boot device completed
Protocols SMB1 (CIFS) and SMB2 protocol (enable/disable via settings)
How Does It Work?
LAN drive uses its own SMB1 & SMB2 implementation with an efficient way to announce itself on clients (your phone appears automatically in other software, even in Windows 10 File Explorer).
You can choose 3 ways to authenticate :
Popup confirmation (default)
Anonymous
Create users with custom rights
Even if it requires root access, LAN drive is non intrusive (not installed in app systems), nothing will stay in the system after uninstall it.
Known issues
App startup time could be very slow (could take 10 seconds depending the devices).
It's not something we can improve at the moment (framework loading Xamarin.Forms)
App Size : 26MB. We can't make it better, again Xamarin.Forms have some mandatory DLL to load to work
Use cases:
Some users don't know the powerfull use of SMB server, here some use cases:
Backup files, like you do with an USB key, but without the USB cable, and with security credentials.
Watch your movies/photos on your TV with Kodi (or VLC) streaming directly from your Phone.
Use a Backup utility from MAC or PC to create a scheduled task which backup|synchronize your movies/photos every days.
Developers|Hackers could browse Root "/" and edit/delete/copy/paste any files without using adb shell
Who Are We?
Webrox is a little french company of 2 persons, we build apps since 2011, check the Webrox store page here.
We made LAN drive to have a very easy multiplatform SMB Server.

I hope no one will be upset with my post, specially the OP.
But since there is no update for Samba Filesharing since 2014, I feel obligated to share my discovery.
Yesterday I found an alternative app in play store: LAN drive - SAMBA Server.
In preliminary tests it works well and seems faster than Samba Filesharing. But be aware that the free version has a speed limit. To use LAN drive at full speed you have to pay.
The app has been released on January 25, 2018. There are constant updates and the dev seems active and responsive.
I made this discovery because there was no way Samba Filesharing would work in my Moto Z2 Play. Due to the nightmare of using MTP I started searching for alternatives. I found LAN drive and it worked like a charm.
When creating your accounts and shares, my advice is first create all your shares and then add users. If you follow the app suggested sequence you will end up with your custom shares not accessible from your PC.
If you use file synchronization software be aware that LAN drive has a bug. Files written to the phone do not get the time stamp updated to the source file time stamp. I will report this to the dev and hope it gets fixed soon.

Hello svbarbosa, I'm the LAN drive developer.
I will fix the issues of users rights and wrong timestamp on monday.
I would like to tell other users LAN drive is a non intrusive app (it doesn't install anything in the system apps and it only work when you started it, security is a big thing these days).
If anybody have a feedback, feel free to test LAN drive and feedback me

@poppyto, welcome to XDA!
Glad to confirm you are really active and responsive.
I have also seen your answer to my email and will get on it soon. Some family errands to run first.
Take your time to fix the issues. We have been waiting for so long to have samba support that we can sure handle waiting some more time to have your fixes.
And please do start the LAN Drive app thread. I am a long time user of Samba Filesharing and despite it seems to be dead in terms of new development, somehow I feel weird talking about a replacement app here.
I had problems with Samba Filesharing not working in my Moto Z2 Play, it is my first phone where Samba Filesharing would not work. Shares do not appear on my PC.
I did some research and foung a great replacement app. Check it out in my previous post #235.

your app does not accept any input
Until now I am using Samba FileServer or SambaDroid

I wrote this two times: Sony Z1c stock rom 5.1.1 rooted
As I cannot change the settings I cannot get a connection to my Win10 PC.
As I wrote too I have no problems with Samba File Server or SambaDroid.
2. On a very old LG P970 (Android 4.x) I can change the settings of this app but I don't see this phone in my network because Lan Server catches a wrong IP address (perhaps mobile and not WLAN).
This app is in my eyes only alpha quality until now.

1. During deep sleep of my device I have wakelocks the whole time (battery is discharging badly), See attached screenshot.
2. If I de-install the app and make a fresh new installation all shares are visible and I have access (not always). But after a short time or after stopping and restarting this app my device is no longer visible. I tested this on two smartphones several times. That is terrible.
Wishes.
A possibility to save and restore the settings on the (external) sdcard.
2. If I tap on the back key the should NOT stop the smb server.
If the smb server is running the transfer rate is very good compared to the old samba file server

Truth is I'm having an unusually tough period at work.
Fortunately it is almost over and I will be able to help LAN drive development again real soon.

1. It looks "normal" in Service mode because the app continues to advertise so it uses battery.
If you don't need the run as Service feature, you could deactive it in the settings (but the app will not work in background after that, only in foreground)
2. Ok cool, I will add it
3. Yep specially in service mode ok, I'll fix it

No, that is not normal: during 14h 59m your app has during 98.6% of this time wakelocks. The battery drops normally during night from 100 to 95% but with your running discharges to ~70%.
As you can see other apps in my screenshot they have all >0.2 %.
Your app should detect this unused time during night (deep sleep) and when WLAN is off, there is no need to permanent check.
BetterBatteryStats is a perfect app to detect things.
And thank you to solve the other two points.
You will have a lot of work for this app (fine tuning)

Ok, I just sent an update,
So, based on your comment about the battery drain:
I add an auto stop after inactivity time (no connection on the server) you can change it in the settings (default:30min), I hope it will resolve your battery issue let me know !
Here the new changelog for 1.5 (will be available in 15 minutes I guess) :
New feature : Auto Stop server after inactivity time (change the duration in the settings, default : 30mn)
New feature : Backup and restore your settings on an external file
New behavior : Doesn't stop the server when button back on the homepage

Thank you, your app will become better with each update.
To 1. the server stops with no wakelocks now: good
But the server stops always, it should only stop if WLAN is off.
To 2. Backup is fine but if I select a external path (e.g. SDCard1) the app should remember this selected path if I want to restore, so I do not
have to search.
To 3. ok
Thank you.
There could be a bug with access rights to root directory.
With the build-in root share or with a own declared share I can
1. map this share in Windows but cannot access directories or
2. mapping fails with access error 5 in windows.
Mapping and access of sdcard0 and sdcard1 is always ok.
I have this behavior on two smartphones (Sony Z1c Android 5.1.1 stock rom, rooted of course)
With Samba File Server and SambaDroid no problem.

So only "Root" / shows access denied in Windows ?
Maybe there's something wrong with Android < 6.0 (I use 6.0 and more)
Could I contact you directly to solve the case ? (I will need some actions to do)

There are sometimes difficulties to access the other shares too on my two identical Z1c.
Today I found 6 active connections to my PC even if none are really mapped (PC was new started, see screenshot).
To the wakelocks: stopping the server is NO solution as the samba server is not started again when WLAN comes back.
Perhaps you can find here on XDA how to handle wacklocks correct.
As you can see in the second screenshot LD permanently sends wakelocks (98.6% of the running time of the server), compare this with the other running apps. I cannot help I am no programmer.
Your app seems to have one permanent wakelock (count:0 time 98,6%), all other apps have some counts and a very little used time. So your app prevents Android to go to deep sleep.
Of course you can connect me direct with perhaps a PM (XDA-profile).
Good luck.

You may mapped "Z:" drives ? Or a backup utility ? I need more information to investigate if there's a bug.

Other apps don't wavelock because they don't need it.
Without wavelock, LAN drive can't work (TCP connections are dropped) when the screen goes off and people want to use it when the scren goes off, the first option to stop the server when there's no more connections since a duration is a good option.
The good way should be to capture the "Deep Sleep" event, but it's impossible with the WaveLock on.
I will think about it this week if I can find a better solution

I mapped 3 shares with
net use u: \\Sony-Z2c\sdcard0
net use v: \\Sony-Z2c\sdcard1
net use x: \\Sony-Z2c\root
As the last share does not allow access to me (only with your app) I tried several times to read a directory.
On your app main screen i saw some messages that LD has connected to my PC and displayed every time a new connection. After 6 I stopped the server.

You could try this with the Samba File Server app how wakelocks should look.
And with BetterBatteryStats (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats) you see the result after some time in summary-partial wakelocks.
I tried this again with samba file server, waited ~20 mins in deep sleep and no single wakelock from this server was seen.
I don't know how this works but in my opinion Android shuts down WLAN when the screen goes off and no charging (that is my setting in Android) and then the samba server has nothing to do and it should stop his own wakelocks to save battery until WLAN starts again.
Sorry I am not a programmer.

Ok there's a bug with Root directories, could you track what's happen with the debug interface and send me the result :
From a computer, while LAN drive is launched go here :
http://[B]your_phone_ip[/B]:13000/debug.html?refresh=auto&refreshtime=1&orderby=desc
Then try to access Root sharefolder, the debug page should show/may something
Then save the page CTRL+S from your browser dans send it to me enclosed here

My file manager never ends in connecting/reading the root share. And your app has created now >7 connections to my PC.
I hope you can see something in the debug file.

Backup and Restore ALL Accounts on android

GOAL - a universal backup and restore solution that can take ALL device accounts and ALL their related passwords - back them up - and restore them to ANY version of android - including Phones, Tablets, and Emulators such as bluestacks, memu, nox etc. even from different android versions.
This is primarily to get all EMAILS - google - outlook - etc loaded into a new device *This is NOT for apps as there are plenty of solutions for apps already but none for ACCOUNTS
This software should basically have a database, preferably in an easy to edit CSV format - which would never need to change as it would always have ACCOUNT_TYPE,USERNAME,PASSWORD,RANDOM_DATA
-you could manually populate this via your computer or you could have the android software export it via coding magic. Maybe use a different format and have it load a spreadsheet or a different database type...
Importing would be trickier- you'd have to have a drop down asking questions like - What android version are you importing to- so that the code could be properly inserted...
I intend to ask for advice here and see what solutions you all have; I will edit this first topic to help others if a solution exists.
Some people spend 50 hours of labor installing hundreds of apps on their phone; each needing custom configured, many require having an Account to access data through the app.
What if you have to load 50+ emails into the phone; each of them having huge complicated passwords.
What if you are always buying new devices, changing roms and having to set this all up again?
=Some Solutions exist but none have worked for me.
1. Built in google 'set up new device' -
This only seems to work when you have reset your phone.. once the phone is active and you've actually used it -- there appears to be no way to turn this on and attempt to bring new accounts over...
q. How can you activate this after the fact?
If you have more than a few accounts on the device, say.. 4... maybe you have 20 or 40 email accounts loaded.. it is almost guaranteed to fail.
q. What causes it to fail? Is there any work around.
If you are on android versions too far apart its also likely to fail
q. Why? is there any work around.
*Here is a site with code related to the account transfer API; I'm not sure how accurate it is:
Account Transfer API | Android Developers
developer.android.com
2. Samsung Smart switch
This only copies ONE account - but it also does a fine job of moving text messages, SOME apps and other info over.
*Is there any way to get it to copy all email accounts; and other random app accounts to the new device?
3. Titanium backup - for non root and root.
I've played with this numerous times over the past 10 years and never successfully. I dont think it is capable of taking all accounts and backing up / restoring to different devices.
More to be added later.
Reserved for random info so I can update later;
One month later and no replies...
Anyone?
1. Is there any app on the planet that can do this - or close? ((samsung smart switch - sometimes - though it mostly fails -- Googles built in set up - which fails 95% of the time) - I know of no other solutions.
2. Is there any desire for this? have any of you been annoyed with the menial task of setting this stuff up again and again?
another month goes by.. now I have a new android tablet.. and guess what?
Samsung smart switch wont copy my accounts...
I cant seem to get the built in google 'set up device' to start == and I'm not looking forward to adding 50 email accounts and various other accounts into this manually.. thats gonna take ages...
Buying a new device every couple months.. is a grueling task when it comes to account transfers...
Nobody has any suggestions on a solution for this? I'm searching around randomly again and finding Nothing.
what is your concern?? reading your thread give me headache
I have the same issue. I am "bored" in getting another mobile because i have to setup from beggining soooo many things
IIRC then account details are stored in SQLite database named accounts.db, its location depends on Android version.
Wi-Fi passwords are stored in file named wpa supplicant.conf.
@jwoegerbauer thanks for the tip. using your filename I found a tutorial that listed the location as follows:
/data/system_de/0/accounts_de.db
I've verified this on Nox; my bluestacks still isnt rooted and it seems the phones I have with all email accounts loaded == are not rooted either== I'm going to need to find a workaround for that or make time to root bluestacks to get the account data out of it...
Problem is;
1 there are no passwords included here. Where are they? mine are all crazy long and I have no clue what they are... its very time consuming to manually input them via my password managing tool.
2 Once I export; and change the CSV into a spreadsheet to include all the other missing email /google accounts; how do I replace the accounts_de.db file on each device
3. Why isnt there an app that can do this already; lol?
EDIT
Titanium backup does have an 'accounts' export option that -sorta - works... problem is how picky the app is about using root plus super SU and refuses to work with Magisk (sometimes) or will constantly crash on (some) devices - or will fail to export/import unless you try (5 different file managers that can eventually figure out how to import their file type) - or is otherwise NEEDING root access to function...
Would be nice if a solution existed via ADB or simply in an un rooted device to do this; sorta like how google ''set up nearby device'' was supposed to work (and will; if you use only 5 or less accounts... but its also buggy and fails)
Any ideas on how we can export/import accounts?
Still no successful solution.
1. Notes regarding Titanium:
I've tried about 15 versions of bluestacks using android 4.4.2 and have had mild success with titanium to backup/restore =
however it seems to randomly restore less than all the accounts (missing a few different ones each time)
it also seems to randomly miss the google password tokens randomly =forcing me to log into 10% of the imported accounts with each restore.
It also seems to fail 100% when trying to restore a bluestacks 4.4.2 accounts file on to android 7 bluestacks; or nox / or memu
It has limited success importing into a proper non emulated tablet (again missing about 60% of the accounts randomly)
all in all Titanium doesn't appear to be a good solution.
2. Perhaps a direct edit of the Accounts DB file would be wiser;
I've attempted to export it a few times and am not sure yet how to edit it ...
HeidiSQL has errors when accessing the file
Oracle's sql developer is WORSE; most of the text is gibberish.
*Any ideas on how to edit this?
3. Other xda searches lead me to:
The google password isn't a real password. After first successful authentication, an Auth Token is downloaded to device which is stored in accounts.db.
From the Auth Token is impossible to guess the password.
So I guess I answered my own question on that... I was hoping the passwords were stored on the device database so I could import/export them via a text editor.
4.
*File manager for super users allows one to explore and edit (to a point) a sql database - but one can not add new entries; only edit existing entries.
one can only export to csv; not import.
so this is only a partial solution.
5. an open source XDA solution looks promising but will not work.
Each OnAndBackup version uses different file extensions that are not compatible between versions... so yuo can't backup one android version and restore to another.
OAndBackupX is a fork of the popular open source backup app for Android
Looking for an open source solution to backup individual apps and their data? OAndBackupX is a handy Android app for the job. Check it out!

In post #7 you were told it's a SQLite database. Hence use a SQLite browser.
Downloads - DB Browser for SQLite
sqlitebrowser.org
It appears that the art of editing the database file on this is more complicated than it should be...
1. Taking the old DB file from 4.4.2 with a million accounts loaded... -- Export the 'accounts' table into csv
2. taking the new DB file from 7.1.1 with one account loaded - delete existing and then import the old 'accounts' table -
Swap original .db file with new edited one...
and congrats you too have a bootloop...
Anyone know how to PROPERLY export / import the accounts information ?
The sql table otherwise appears the same.. but I'm by no means an expert on these databases so perhaps I missed something simple.
Can't wait to see what happens from nox to bluestacks to memu to real versions of android on multiple devices with multiple android versions...
There HAS to be a better way to do this.?
Edit: 20 plus hours and many weeks into this problem
delving deeper into Titaniums site they have a suggestion for use on emulators that I did not notice; I will try and report back.
12. I have an Android device that is x86 based, and rooted. Can I use Titanium Backup ?
YES. Please ensure that you have a working BusyBox on your device and make the following changes in TB preferences:
enable the “Force use external BusyBox” option (under Troubleshooting) then hit MENU -> Reload application.
1. I've noticed there are two places for saved account info; I still have no success in getting my edited database to properly recognize in the emulator.
system DE on older 4.4.2
and
system CE on 7.1 (also has the DE folder)
2. No luck on titanium either.
a. I've tried making busy box work on the emulator; it pretends to install successfully but when running shell commands it doesnt seem to work; therefore the number 12 from Titanium FAQ is something I can't seem to accomplish either... so Titanium will not work yet; maybe due to the busybox fail.

Thanks for the tip just used Titanium Backup to transfer accounts backup generated from one phone to another (using the generated backup files) both N916K rooted with Magisk version 23.0 (23000) without issues!
So is there any Progress or Solutions found yet?
A good thing would be to see all the accounts and then retype them manually if needed.
Else it would be much better to have something like Smart Switch.
Problem I noticed with SmartSwitch, when you try to transfer the Accounts. Samsung trys to grab and upload all the accounts to their server!! Why? I don't know, but it always asks for Internetconnection etc. ONLY when you want to transfer accounts, everything else works more or less.. some appdata not included sadly anyway.
Swift Backup doesn't seem to or did someone manage it to work with it?
Tipps and possible Solutions would be greatly appriciated.
It seems to be especially problematic with Android 12...
Hello, I'm having the same problem. I'm "bored" with obtaining a new phone because I have to set up so many things from scratch. real estate istanbul
A shame there still doesn't seem to be a good solution for this. TB only tries to backup the non-existent location, while the correct is /data/system_de/0/accounts_de.db
Manually moving just puts me into a bootloop, even after setting the correct permissions.
I dont know if this works, someone should test it.
