Hello,
I just wanted to ask if someone ever tried to restore apex_data (renamed so it fits to nova) into nova launcher. the data file stores the homescreen layout and since this is the same in both launchers i was wondering if it could work?
Reason why im asking is that im using apex launcher right now and i want to try nova but i do not want to put all the apps back on their screen position...
Cheers
Matt
not possible.. However you can use an app called desk migrate.. it is used to migrate home screen settings from one launcher too other.. it works on go launcher.. don't know if it works with other launcher too.. you can give it a try..

At least on my GB phone desk migrate worked perfectly to get the Homescreens of the other launchers.
But havent tested it on ICS so far.
I have yet to get DeskMigrate to do anything in ICS. I've like to copy LauncherPro's desktops to Apex or Nova, but it does nothing. Offers which launcher to copy from, and that's it.
i guess nova settings can be restored in apex
Has anyone figured out a method to backup the shortcuts, folders, and widgets on your homescreen in the default Google Experience Launcher? With Titanium backup or another method?
+1. I'd like this too. It might have to do with the fact that Google search is integrated. Maybe you have to backup Google search and launcher?

I backed up both Google search and launcher, and then restored both of them in one batch operation. this method restored all the shortcuts in my home-screen. not sure about the widgets though since i dint have any
Hi guys I set up my wife's s6 and while trying to use helium backup to restore done apps without rooting her phone. I restored the icons to the new phone and now it won't stop force closing. I installed a third party app. But she really wants touchwiz back because of the widgets.
The help I need is,
Is there a way to reinstall the app?
I've tried with one I found online but it won't install because it won't overide a system app. I didn't know if there was a way to force it and if someone could post am apk of the launcher to try that one also.
Thanks,
Try going into app manager in setting and find the app launcher you installed. Click on it and to go to app info and click the button that says clear defaults. Once it does press the home button and it should ask which launcher you want as default.
what launcher did you have? i dont think touchwiz gets "uninstalled"
like in nova > settings > select default home
Yes I know all that. But touchwiz force closes so it won't let me use it. I have Nova as a backup
So you were restoring apps using Helium Backup and it restored an icon pack? Can't you delete the icon pack?
I use the google now launcher and found when restoring a phone from google when the launcher is reinstalled the homepage icons ans widgets put themselves back. This is awesome except when using titanium back to put the apps back on since google restore goes first then TB.
Anyone know how to "re launch" google app restore so I can select the launcher and have it put my icons back for the apps that were not installed yet the first time.
thanks
Is there a way to backup my TouchWiz homescreen? I know I can install nova launcher, but I'd like to stay with touch wiz if possible. Could it be done?
If you have rooted your phone, try Titanium. Otherwise I don't think so

Go to settings/Samsung Cloud/Backup or restore and here you can backup your touchwizz homescreen only way i know to do that
That's not an option on my device?
Only Calendar, contacts, Internet and keyboard.
All..I found an app called "My backup " that allows me to save all of the apps and folders on my TouchWiz homescreen. Works great!
