[Q] HELP! My controller is stuck - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After getting the Android 5.0 update on the Shield Tablet, I was prompted to update the controller software. the update never completed and now my controller is stuck. the lights are on, and stay on. No matter how long I hold the 'nvidia' button down it will never flash to pair or connect to the tablet. I am guessing the update borked the software on the controller but I cant figure out how to restore it. Plugging it into the PC doesnt seem to achieve anything either.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have opened a support ticket with Nvidia as well but so far they are of no help.

Remember, NVIDIA support is likely swamped right now- if you submitted that ticket an hour ago, it may be a while until they can respond. I don't have one of these controllers- can the batteries be pulled?

No not easily, there are some sort of star fasteners, or possibly allens that I dont have the right wrench for.

Ouch I might keep using my Ouya controller, then.

Yeah that problem happened to me and I returned the controller. Kind of weird considering Nvidia is such a large company making graphic cards and such. I mean the controller costs $60 and they haven't even fixed the problem? Common Nvidia -_-

Have you tried plugging it in to the charger it unlocks it for me when my controller freezes on me

Hey guys I just found out the solution for this kind of controller error, just hold the nvidia button for more than 15 seconds and the controller will reset to itself....
Don't insert anything on the side of the usb entrance cause that's just the led light not the reset pin as I read before
Hope this helps!!

Mobile Dock Malfunctioning...

My mobile dock is malfunctioning to the point where I can't even use it to type since it appears as if the majority of the keys are mapped to other buttons and some just plain refuse to work. [Example:- '2' Key inputs both '2Q' simultaneously and also turns on the bluetooth, Backspace key turns the pad off and 'Y' key takes a screen shot. :S]
I've no idea how this has come to pass and I'm somewhat confident no liquids or damage has happened to the mobile dock....or atleast not on my behalf. The only thing i've done out of the ordinary is keep my infinity tablet plugged it into it pretty much since I bought both tablet and dock late this summer.
I've done a cold reset using the power and volume buttons and as far as I know I've all updates...I'm at a loss as to what to do next, especially since I can't seem to initiate or find proper information on how to initiate a download of Mobiledock firmware if that is indeed the case.
I don't live in America so taking it back to 'best buy' isn't an option right now short of ordering a whole new mobile dock, despite this one still being able to accept and utilize USB devices for game controllers and external hard drives.
Don't know what to do...Hope one of you guys can help me.
Cheers.
Send it back to Asus. It should still be covered under warranty.
Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using Tapatalk 2
In the end I just bought another dock, which I'm currently using and typing on now. I'll do as you said and just send it back. I'm sure that was one of the faulty ones with the chipset malfunction that caused it to drain battery life as well.
Cheers for the response, mate.

[Q] Any chance for this guy?

let someone borrow my transformer. (big mistake)
Let's skip the drama and focus on the present
Nothing on the screen, nothing nada ziltch.
it's definitely been dropped.
But i know it someone works cause if i plug it in to a computer I can see the files. Which tells me it's actually fully booting but there's ascreen problem.
Anyone have any experiences repairing these guys?
They're really easy to take apart compared to other tablets and phones I've seen.
I'd start by taking it apart and seeing if anything's detached / loose / broken.

Do you have a hdmi cable handy?
That could 100% confirm it is a screen issue and let you use the tablet for something even if you can not fix the screen.
Actually..I am in the same boat..
Bloody screen has gone dead on me.. this is a 6 month old B60..
I was watching a movie..closed the lid..walked 100 meters back to apartment opened it and blank screen..turned it on and off a few times.,,could tell by two beeps..
Anyway, I have been on a island off the Philippines and lucky had a usb drive with nv flash tools on it..so got apx mode going and nvflashed back to factory ICS.. plugged it into a HDMI flatescreen TV and used developer options to check touch points..
They are semi working, I had the dock with a usbmouse..as that's working fine..
So as it stands..looks like a new touch screen.. I will RMA it once back home as I have brought 3 from the same Asus dealer..
Will see if they replace free of charge and or what they charge..as I have seen the components needed for sale online @ taobao here out of shenzhen.. and I just did a strip down of a HTC evo so its much the same procedure..
Painful as I still have two weeks of tripping ahead of me..lucky I have another laptop stashed at a hotel and that I can pickup..
Will keep you posted on how it goes.
Edit: You might want to check out this video on Youtube..

As an update..
I pulled it open and tried the plug jiggle fix.. no good..
Had to RMA it.. all goo through as they replaced the touch/Screen and it seems to be up an running again..
Fingers crossed as the other one I have placed in the family is almost 17months old an still running strong..

[Q] ***HELP*** Transformer won't turn on.

My transformer will not turn on. I used it a couple days ago but don't remember if I fell asleep or powered down. I went to turn back on this morning but there is no response. If I plug in the charger I can see the light come on. Also if I hold the power button it will give a quick vibrate after about 10 seconds. Has anyone else had this problem?
Its rooted and unlocked. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance for your time.
I forgot to mention that there is nothing being displayed on the screen at anytime whatsoever...

Try cold booting it? Turn it off and then turn it on while holding the volume down button.
Try connecting it to your laptop, see if detects it???
Maybe its a software app thing?

Already tried both. Problem is, is that there is no way to see if the device is even powered on... The battery meter on the screen doesn't even show up when its plugged in/charging...
Wow....that sucks.
If your computer doesnt detect it, then idk what you could do.... cuz if it did, then you could try to use adb to try and restarting t.
It sucks that its unlocked or i would have said to just contact asus to get it replaced.
Other than that, its hard to say...sorry man.

Tried hitting the reset? It's in the little pinhole above the hdmi.

Held down power, volume down, and volume up at the same time.
Then tried the paper clip in the reset button by the hdmi input.
Then I tried both ideas again with the charger plugged in....
Frustrating. Unless someone has anymore ideas I may just try and send it in. Hopefully they cant tell if its been unlocked or not because nothing is being displayed..

You can't send to ASUS when you use unlock tool they get your S/N and save it in case something like this happens. The only way I can see around this would be if you bought it at a Best Buy. They maintain 1 year manufacturer warranties if you bought from them so you could feasibly take to geek squad/Customer service and say it just stopped working. They wouldn't have record that you unlocked the tab. You would most likely need the receipt or some confirmation you bought it there though. Good luck.
Sorry friend, seems like you are in real trouble. I had a very similar problem, my only solution was to exchange it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2203565
As you have unlocked yours, the warranty is no longer valid, and although Asus will fix it, you will have to pay to get it done. Since I'm on my second TF, and it even has had a problem that nearly bricked it, I am simply afraid to unlock it while still within the warranty period.
Might get lucky and see something with it connected to the HDMI port.

They did with my TF201 and this guys TF700 just a month ago http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240970
They took back my TF201 in August last year. I was told by BB it was done under the manufacturers warranty. It really does depend on who you talk to and how you approach them with the problem. Several people had to try different BB stores until they found that one person working there that either knew HOW to do it or was willing to take it back.
I had the same problem. Tried all the ideas mentioned above. I then put it on the charger for a day and afterwards it just booted like nothing had happened.
(mine is not rooted or unlocked)

TF201 is a different tab and basically BB and asus came to an agreement to take them back. The guy in your link got lucky. Probably only got a trade because of the extreme nature of the defect. Fact is you cannot just go into BB and get a new tablet under mfg warranty.

Exactly.
Now for the good news. My tablet came back to life last night after 3 weeks of trying. It was totally dead and wouldn't even vibrate anymore. plugged it in and it actually tried to boot right away but then turned off. Let it charge for a few and tried again and it booted no problem. Battery % is now showing accurately and it has now been running fine for 12 hours.
My problem is I went out and got an HP envy x2 (win8) tab on saturday. Now to decide which to keep... I love the envy but the new quad cores are coming out this fall which should really make it a versatile little laptop. Just don't know if I can live with android now that I have a taste of full win 8.

Any updates? My TF700 stopped turning on as well. Same recovery efforts, now waiting on the battery to drain. I unlocked/rooted for cleanrom (faster/better). Worked fantastic till last thursday and it refused to turn on in my college class. This could signal my exit from Android even though I have a lot of money invested in apps.

Good to hear. Aside from the snappier response of cleanrom my biggest issue with the asus firmware was the waste of screen space on the home screen. It had like a 1" border all the way around that you can't put an icon in and that annoyed me the most of all. Been waiting the battery to go completely dead before I send it in just hoping that fixes it.

Dead tf300t after update

Hi Xdaers
I'm sorry if this has been posted already, I tried searching without finding anything that worked.
I was using my TF300T last wednesday and i got a notification telling me of a system update, so i accepted the update.
After the update was applied the device booted up fine and i continued to use it, at the end of the day i put the device to sleep.
The following day i went to wake it up and nothing happened. My first thoughts was the battery died so i charged it until the light went green on both the pad & dock, Still no response. PLEASE HELP ITS OUT OF WARRANTY.
I have tried holding POWER, POWER & VOL-, POWER & VOL+, RESET BUTTON.
I also tried connecting it to my pc, it failed to detect the device.
I dont know what else to try. :crying:

What could have broken it, all i did was leave it over night.
If i put my ear on the top left of the back i can hear a very faint noise when pressing the power button, like my nexus 7 does just before the screen comes on.

If its just the screen you can always try hooking up a HDMI to a TV and see if you get anything. Just to make sure did you make sure to hold down the power button long enough? Sometimes you do have to hold it down for quite a bit for something to show up.

I have had it connected to the TV with no picture. I held the power button for at least 5-10 minutes. I've even removed & replaced the battery and tried holding power, no look there. I did find something interesting when I removed the back tho (bare in mind this device was brand new and has never been opened before) I found 4 warranty sticker all broken and finger prints fused onto the copper heatsink.

Tell me about it I'm going to be speaking to training standards as I was sold it as "brand new" followed by speaking to the shop I got it from telling them they broke the sale of goods act 1979 (selling a refurbished unit as pristine). Hopefully I will get a new device.

So just a quick update I just got back from my holiday and thought I'd try turn it on, and as if by magic it booted as normal.
Now the only issues I have is random reboots.
It seems to restart after a few minutes when I touch the screen. Is it possible to revert to ICS without root. I managed to do it before just by copying the update file from the Asus website on to the SD card. Will that work when going from 4.2 to 4.1???

AFAIK you can't go back to ICS once the tab is upgraded to JB. See this thread. However, you can go back and forth between 4.2 and 4.1. Hope that answers your question.

[Q] Sony Smartwatch MN2 won't turn on (without usb cable)

When holding my watch, trying to boot it up, nothing happens, the watch does not turn on.
Once connected to it's USB cable, The device shows up the SONY splash screen, then tries to pair with my phone.
Appearently, he does not remember my phone, it just keeps searching. When I delete the SmartWatch from my BT device list, then pair with the device again, the MN2 works well again like it should, but still connected to the USB cable. How can I force DFU mode?
Sony Dumb? Watch
I have similar issues and mine wont even perform any task at all. I instaled the proper software but nothing happens. The only thing Ive suceded with is to pair by confirming the bluetooth digits. My watc wont even show me the time... Im getting desperate...... Help!

OK sorry bout double posts... Will stick to one thread. And IOḿ waiting for another droid to ry it out... But I have a Z Ultra so I feel its a shame for sony making it6 so hard...
I had a lot of problems with MN2 battery and charging issues. The best thing is to contact Sony and send it for repairs and it is likely it will happen again. Now I'm using SW2 and its so much more reliable and durable with less problems than MN2 I recomened you get the new watch
