So my nexus 4 screen shattered when i drop it by mistake ... searched everywhere and came up with that You can use android device even without touch screen from your computer... Yes!! You can control your android via Ur PC's mouse and keyboard... For this you must have USB Debugging turned on in your device... And you need [email protected] and Android Screencast in your PC. Start both of them and now you can control your device via PC.
This trick even works you are not getting any display in your device....
Found It Here On Bequench.com : http://www.bequench.com/use-android-device-if-touch-is-not-working/

thank you, this may be helpful for some people, but i think i will prefer to fix the touch problem if it happens.

There are cases when you don't want to expend on fixing the expensive touch screen..

Or you can just use a USB>USBmicro cable to connect any random USB mouse.
Provided it's just touch that is dead, of course.

View and control phone screen using PC via USB cable

Hey guys,
I used to stream my iphone screen to my PC and was able to control it using keyboard and mouse. Is there a similar way to do this with the skyrocket? It makes it convenient here at work. Thanks!

Try this. It is what I used when my screen was broke. Make sure you have adb running, else it will not launch. Another thing is it is not working anymore on my particular ICS Rom. Should work fine on any GB rom, though. Hope this helps!
Here is the link to the google code page for this project. I take NO credit for this helpful app whatsoever. Devs and further info can be found here- http://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/
Note- It is a bit slower than your probably use to, but it is the only app I could find for our device.
^^ Thanks. Testing it now.
Our new app, VMLite VNC Server, should fulfill your needs, it does exactly what you need, to control android phones or devices from a PC, so you can use the external keyboard/mouse, etc. We app has fast responses, and works on rooted or non-rooted devices.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vmlite.vncserver&hl=en
so far our users like it. You can simply click a button to do USB connection:
more info here:
http://www.vmlite.com/vaac/#usb_connection
i use a program called MyPhoneExplorer and the corresponding Android app is in the store.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 AT&T and I also have a busted screen. I am trying to just pull my pictures off of it before my replacement arrives. I downloaded the SDK package you linked to but lack the knowledge to just get it to link to my phone via USB. To complicate matters I had it pattern locked but since I can't get the screen to work at all I can't unlock the phone. If I could my computer sees the phone as a portable device but won't show me any of it's files. Any pointers would be helpful.
Hmm
Well, I have a HDMI IN port in my rig . And with a MHL adapter, works perfectly fine on Windows 8.

I use an MHL adapter as well but will matter if the screen isn't functional? As far as I'm aware you still have to direct it via the touch screen....

Connect PC mouse to tablet without using cables

Anyone know of a way to use my Pc with a wired mouse and somehow connect it to my tablet for use on Android?
I think its possible as you can already use the tab as a mouse on pc.
Sent from my GT-P5110 using xda premium
Well what you can do is buy a little adapter that plugs into the charger jack of your tab that has a usb plug in and use it that way

I clearly put "without using cables" on the description but thanks anyways.

seemed a little harsh!
from what i understand, you want to control your tab from your pc AND use the mouse which is connected to pc. if this is right your title is a little misleading - you actually want to control your tab from your pc!
if you just want to use a mouse connected to the pc to show on your tab it'd be a no go!
the easiest way would be to buy a bluetooth mouse and just pair it with your tab!
if not, people are talking about some apps in this thread

[Q] [A Silly Question] Can we connect other phone to our OTG suppported smartphones?

Hey guy,
I am haing a Samsung galaxy tab 2 P3100 and it perfectly supports OTG, I can use Pendrives, Mouse and keyboard with no problem.
Well, it is bit hilarious but last night I was wondering if I could connect another phone via USB with my tab using the OTG Cable and access the files in other phone like a pendrive or something.
I can try it by myself but afraid that it may explode, so I need your advice, if someone has tried it.
Sorry if its a silly question, but as an android user I find it worth to ask.
And I can try it by myself, if you assure that doing this is safe
Thanks thanks

i tried this myself, just to see if it would work, on a samsung galaxy s3 which has total otg support, and a Chinese tablet also with total support, and the results are interesting:
each device shows "connected to pc, press to enable usb storage" i press, nothing happens on either device. i even went into es file explorer, which find everything i connect, but it shows nothing connected.
Nothing exploded though.
LoL, I was wonder that though

[Q] Nexus 5, screen broken, need to access data, help?

Hi,
I broke the screen on my Nexus 5 while on a long holiday. I can still see about three quarters of the screen but the touch screen is basically busted, and as a result, I can't unlock the phone to get the data off. I backed up 90% of the photos via Dropbox but there is one week of photos I couldn't upload and there are also some really nice videos I'd like to get off.
Is there any way to sync to the file system without unlocking via the touchscreen? I don't think I have debugging disabled (I'm not particularly development savvy) so not sure what my options are...
I have a little time before I need to send the phone to LG for repair, so I'm willing to learn whatever I need to to salvage my phone. I think I saw a thread somewhere detailing how it's down for the nexus 4 but not sure if it's applicable to the 5 as well...
Thanks
The important question is your bootloader unlocked? If it is you have options

I don't think it is as I didn't make any modifications to my phone, just used it with the standard features.
Is it possible to unlock the bootloader now, with the screen being broken?

Thanks, that's a pretty good idea! I'm looking at OTG USB cables now but I do have one question, will I need drivers in order to use the USB mouse, or will it work as soon as I plug it in? I read somewhere that if you have the latest Android software then the USB devices should be recognised without a problem, however, my phone has been out of action for a couple of months now so my software may be out of date...

By latest, I don't think they specifically mean the newest ROM for the nexus 5. Probably just mean 4 or 4.2+
As mentioned, no drivers needed. Just plug and play.

Perfect! Micro OTG USB ordered. Just one more question, why do I need a mouse and keyboard? Shouldn't a USB mouse be enough to enter the pin and navigate the menus?
Thanks so much for the help guys

[Q] Windows can't recognize Nexus 5

Hi,
Purchased nexus 5 (refurb) and as the tittle states, my computer seems unable to recognize this device. I've switched the USB cable as well as test it with another device AND I made sure that the usb configuration is set to MTP,so I know it's the nexus itself. Weirdly, it does receive a charge. Any help would be appreciated as I am hoping to root this device.
Thanks guys
You tried different USB ports?
If you are using Windows, no new devices appear in device manager after connecting the phone?
Was it ever recognize by your computer? Was it recognized by the seller's computer?
Once connected to your computer, swipe down on the Nexus 5 screen, there will be options to change connection type.

Seriously? Nice try though, thanks anyway
Does the phone function properly other than not being seen by your computer? Were you able to try it on another computer?
Does the USB port recognize an OTG drive?
If everything works (mic, speaker, etc.), it's possible that the USB port is damaged in some way.

I'm assuming it has to be damaged. I've tried three computers so far and all it's doing is charging the phone. I don't have an OTG cable on hand so it's hard to determine if it would work that way, but pretty much everything works out of the box except for this issue.
This is pretty annoying, I was looking forward to putting some custom ROM's after working with the s6edge sluggish Touchwiz software
Yup, sounds like th USB port is damaged and needs to be replaced.
When buying a replacement, make that the seller has good feedback. I saw a few posts where the replacement port had issues with the mic, charging, or data transfer.
