Phone was activated and now it's trying to download the OTA to 4.4.4 and I was wondering.
Should I remove the verizon sim to stop the download, does the sim need to be present to do the following?
Can I use Sunshine without the sim present?
Can I flash a Rom without the sim present?
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.
Got my M8 last week. The 4.4.4 update gave me an option to not install it now -- you don't have that option? It should be able to download the OTA via mobile or WiFi.
SunShine won't work on 4.4.4 until the 3.0 release (no ETA). SunShine also requires access to the Internet.
So if I were you, sunshine now while you're still on 4.4.2 or 4.4.3.
how long will it let you hold off the update?
and where is the update located so I can get rid of it?

You'll be able to hold off the update as long as you keep denying access to install. And I don't think you will be able to access the correct folders to delete/block the update till you are rooted.

Hello,
I own a Nexus 5 and it has not been Rooted or Unlocked (bootloader) but now when I check for the official Lollipop 5.0 OTA update it doesn't show up. The notification was there for about a month but i didn't wanted to download to avoid early bugs. Now when i check it doesn't show any update ? stuck on 4.4.4 for now. Is the roll out on Hold ? Can anyone help me out here.

Wait or flash it by yourself.
Looking for the Official Update via OTA. Flashing will require me to Unlock the Bootloader and loose all data

I know. But nobody can tell you for how much time you will have to look for OTA. I also read somewhere, that all units probably wouldn't get 5.0.1 and will go straight to 5.1.
So it's your choose. It's not such a big deal to copy data to PC and vice versa.
Regards, Zagor
Thanks Pal, I shall then wait for Android 5.1 As KitKat 4.4.4 is stable enough to use.

Flashing an OTA manually doesn't require unlocking of bootloader or losing data. Follow Section A from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/info-nexus-5-ota-help-desk-t2523217 - you just need the zipped update and ADB on your PC.
This zip will go from KTU84P to LRX21O (aka 5.0): http://android.clients.google.com/p...ed-hammerhead-LRX21O-from-KTU84P.c1a33561.zip
You could then see if you get prompted to update to 5.0.1. If not, then flash this to go from LRX21O to LRX22C: http://android.clients.google.com/p...ed-hammerhead-LRX22C-from-LRX21O.785a2f7a.zip
It's interesting that you're not being given that option in 4.4.4 though... have Google stopped pushing the Lollipop updates altogether?

Thanks, I did what you suggested. Now on official 5.0.1
I want to sell my phone, a D850, that I've had for just under a year. I've unlocked it so it will work outside of AT&T. The question now is: can I unroot back to stock but with Lollipop instead of KitKat? Alternatively, can I update my G3 with an OTA update.zip file after going back to KitKat? Is there any way to do this manually without having to rely on the actual OTA update coming down (because my phone for some reason just absolutely refuses to update by itself)?
Any help would be appreciated.
From AT&T Website:

One thing i noted is that phone is much more snappy afterward. maybe it's because of the cache rebuild that every build do or maybe there is some secret ingredient added in this update.
Very surprised to see another update from AT&T for the G2. I wonder if there's any chance of seeing 5.1.1 or 6.0.
Does this mess with root?

You can't update with root, at least I haven't been able to.
When updating it will just kick you back to the home screen with a message telling you, you're suspected of rooting and updates are not supported for rooted devices.
I also tried the method discribed in http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-g2/general/links-manually-forcing-ota-20c-to-20u-t2828874 to force an update but I was unable to succeed
I'm waiting for dlpkgfile to update
How does one make this file root friendly? Wouldn't mind taking the time to do this.

i think thats the answer for no 5.1.1 i dont see why leave g2 at lollipop if its has bugs.. since they fix the stagefright on 5.1.1. so we need it 5.1.1 to get rid of this bug but aparently with this update theres no need to update to 5.1.1 but does this still have the memory leak bug?

here is a link to the dlpkgfile from my LG G2, but if you have root you cannot update through either the normal OTA method or by using the root adb command method described in

The last command appears to force a package on the phone to start the update process without (or possibly after) a check for root, however when I run the command the nothing appears to happen making me think that the original Lollipop update(30f) either nerfed the command to prevent this kind of thing from happening, or they replaced the package with a new one for the 5.x iterations of Android. so it is a matter of waiting for people smarter than me to find out how to force the updates in the Lollipop update
TL;DR: yup I agree with you
Is there no way to unroot, install this update and then root again?
Negative

As far as I know you can't unroot a device. The way I'm doing it is reinstalling the original KK, then going trough the process of updating till the lastest update then rooting again.
I do hope someone could come up with way to install the latest update on rooted.
That did come to my mind but I felt it's just too much of a pain going that far back for a patch!
Can you people provide me the "D80030F" lollipop OTA Package file... i can not download it from any where all links says file is deleted or not available

Hello Folks
This morning I noticed, Tmobile pushed a 60mb update to my phone. I am rooted and unlocked but not on a custom rom.
Please advice what I need to do.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Is there any issuse with the update
I have not updated. As I mentioned I am rooted and unlocked. Not sure what to do hence posted my question in the forum.
I do not want to lock the bootloader. Just curious to see what others who might have got this update are doing about it.

1. You don't have to worry about lock bootloader
2. Which Software version are you running? v10e, v10i or v10j?
3. If you update there is a way to downgrade cuz we have previews KDZ's
I am running version 10i,
I am guessing tmobile wants to upgrade me to v10j. Is there a flash able version for 10j that I can use?
Thanks

Ok, you can go here and update to the latest version v10j using @GameTheory. V10j Full update/pre-rooted/untouch TWRP.

dummy you can't update that way you must remove all traces of root which the app can't do use the KDZ
If you are rooted and it says system update DO NOT INSTALL IT... it will brick your phone

Hey all,
I've got the Verizon Pixel 128gb with unlocked bootloader and 7.1.1. I just received the notice from my phone today asking if I want to get the recent Android System Update for the 2017-01 patches. (46.5 mb).
Will it mess anything up if I accept this? Anyone else receive this? Will it work on a rooted phone? I haven't seen anything about this particular update yet, so I figured I'd ask.

There are monthly updates, first Monday of every month. If you are unlocked you can take it no problem. However if you are rooted or modded it will fail and you will have to do it manually.

It won't hurt anything, but you won't be able to apply it automatically. The best method for handling updates is this:
Steps for Magic:
Install TWRP
Flash OTA file using ADB sideload
Reinstall TWRP
Profit!
