[Q] Can't update to Android 5.0 Lollipop, the update isn't showing up anymore. - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I own a Nexus 5 and it has not been Rooted or Unlocked (bootloader) but now when I check for the official Lollipop 5.0 OTA update it doesn't show up. The notification was there for about a month but i didn't wanted to download to avoid early bugs. Now when i check it doesn't show any update ? stuck on 4.4.4 for now. Is the roll out on Hold ? Can anyone help me out here.

Wait or flash it by yourself.

Looking for the Official Update via OTA. Flashing will require me to Unlock the Bootloader and loose all data

I know. But nobody can tell you for how much time you will have to look for OTA. I also read somewhere, that all units probably wouldn't get 5.0.1 and will go straight to 5.1.
So it's your choose. It's not such a big deal to copy data to PC and vice versa.
Regards, Zagor

Thanks Pal, I shall then wait for Android 5.1 As KitKat 4.4.4 is stable enough to use.

Flashing an OTA manually doesn't require unlocking of bootloader or losing data. Follow Section A from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/info-nexus-5-ota-help-desk-t2523217 - you just need the zipped update and ADB on your PC.
This zip will go from KTU84P to LRX21O (aka 5.0): http://android.clients.google.com/p...ed-hammerhead-LRX21O-from-KTU84P.c1a33561.zip
You could then see if you get prompted to update to 5.0.1. If not, then flash this to go from LRX21O to LRX22C: http://android.clients.google.com/p...ed-hammerhead-LRX22C-from-LRX21O.785a2f7a.zip
It's interesting that you're not being given that option in 4.4.4 though... have Google stopped pushing the Lollipop updates altogether?

[Q] Bootloader upgrade after Android 5.0 update

I have updated my Nexus 5 to Android 5.0 manually via "adb sideload" and noticed, that the bootloader was not upgraded.
Should i upgrade my bootloader manually?
Thanks for your answers in advance.
Greetings,
mst0
Does nobody know an answer?
It's the same bootloader as the last preview so if you were using that it won't change
I've never installed the preview.
I updated from 4.4.4 to 5.0 and noticed, that my bootloader didnt't upgrade(but the radio did).
(To the top)
If your stock then when a update comes out it won't install. Other then that it doesn't affect anything.
So if i don't upgrade manually i won't be able to update Android.
Did i understand this correctly?
Are there any downsides, if I upgrade the bootloader?

If your running perfectly fine now then don't worry about it. If in the future you have issues upgrading or device won't boot properly then update it.
If you recieve a OTA update it'll check the version number of your bootloader and if it doesn't match what it's supposed to be then the OTA will refuse to install. I ran my nexus 7 1st edition for 8 months with an older version bootloader with no neg results. Updated it when flashing the Factory image, not that it needed it. Just for the sake of argument go ahead and update the bootloader using fastboot. Google updated the bootloader for a reason right?

Is Unlocking the Bootloader prevent automatic OTA updates?

Greetings,
Just bought a brand new (directly from Google) Nexus 5. It came with 4.4.3 and immediately notified about an "update available", in which it downloaded and installed 4.4.4.
I then went on and Unlocked my bootloader in preparation for a root (I did not root yet, full stock). But I am not getting any update for Lollipop, not even when I manually Check for Updates.
Are these OTA updates come/pushed randomly, or did the Unlocking of the bootloader prevented an automatic OTA update?
I am aware of the option to manually update, I am just curious if the Unlocking prevents updates. If so, if I re-lock the bootloader again will I then get the OTA update?
Thanks.
No, it doesn't change anything. OTA updates are staged so you just probably haven't had it yet...
Unlocking does not affect OTA. But keep in mind you'll likely have to re-root if you get auto updated.
Thank you both!
Am I correct to assume that Rooting also will not prevent OTA updates?

In order for the ota to install you have to be 100% stock system, kernel, recovery, and radio. If you've modified any of those you'll have to return them to stock before the ota will install. There are ways to do that but it depends on the specifics of any modifications you've done to the device. Frankly, it's easier to just flash the new factory image than it is to take the ota if you've modified your device.
Edit, to the best of my knowledge modifying your device, short of deleting our freezing some system files specifically related to receiving updates, will not prevent you from getting the ota, just installing it.

OK, so just to make sure I understand: Is Unlocking the Bootloader making my system not 100% stock? Which means, even if the update downloads it will not install?
Also - again, if I understand correctly - based on what you say I can root, I will receive the update OTA but it won't install. Is this correct?

One thing i noted is that phone is much more snappy afterward. maybe it's because of the cache rebuild that every build do or maybe there is some secret ingredient added in this update.
Very surprised to see another update from AT&T for the G2. I wonder if there's any chance of seeing 5.1.1 or 6.0.

You can't update with root, at least I haven't been able to.
When updating it will just kick you back to the home screen with a message telling you, you're suspected of rooting and updates are not supported for rooted devices.
I also tried the method discribed in http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-g2/general/links-manually-forcing-ota-20c-to-20u-t2828874 to force an update but I was unable to succeed
I'm waiting for dlpkgfile to update
How does one make this file root friendly? Wouldn't mind taking the time to do this.

i think thats the answer for no 5.1.1 i dont see why leave g2 at lollipop if its has bugs.. since they fix the stagefright on 5.1.1. so we need it 5.1.1 to get rid of this bug but aparently with this update theres no need to update to 5.1.1 but does this still have the memory leak bug?

The last command appears to force a package on the phone to start the update process without (or possibly after) a check for root, however when I run the command the nothing appears to happen making me think that the original Lollipop update(30f) either nerfed the command to prevent this kind of thing from happening, or they replaced the package with a new one for the 5.x iterations of Android. so it is a matter of waiting for people smarter than me to find out how to force the updates in the Lollipop update
TL;DR: yup I agree with you
Is there no way to unroot, install this update and then root again?

As far as I know you can't unroot a device. The way I'm doing it is reinstalling the original KK, then going trough the process of updating till the lastest update then rooting again.
I do hope someone could come up with way to install the latest update on rooted.
That did come to my mind but I felt it's just too much of a pain going that far back for a patch!

Just download the file for which model u have and install with system recovery
Agreed. But its suggested to update to B130 first as this is stated in huawei official manual on the build number upgradable.
i m B128 user also. I have been gathering lots of info from different version users to make sure the upgrade is perfect. I've read that some users upgrade directly from B128 to B324 which then turn into nightmare and forced to return to kitkat to re-upgrade again by correct sequence. Now that i have upgraded to 5.1.1 following the correct sequence without having any issue and it works like charm!!
So the correct sequence is B128>>B130>>B324. Use the link given by our friend above to download all the files u need

[GUIDE] Install Official December Nougat Update on Soak Test +FAQ & Review

So Guys i made this Thread because many of you are on the Nougat soak test and are having problems with upgrading to the Official Firmware, i will also share how to install on Normal Marshmallow Roms and some of the questions you people are asking.

How to Install ?
Copy the file to your internal sd card
Open Bootloader mode by pressing volume down and power key for 3 seconds
Select recovery from the menu
When the Android appears Press and hold the power key for 2 seconds and tap on the volume up key.

(Please Correct me if i am wrong)
Will i stop recieving OTA Updates after i update?
No, you will still get updates from motorola.
Will This unlock my bootloader? Does this need bootloader to be Unlocked?
If you are Downgrading from soak test to Marshmallow firmware you will need your bootloader to be unlocked to do that.
Rest i dont think youll need unlocked bootloader.
What is The Security patch Details ?
It's First November , you can also check the review video to see.
Is this the Official Update?
Yes this is the Update by motorola.
Will it root my device ?
No it wont!
what about VoLTE support?
How would people who got the soak test ota and updated there phones earlier update to official version of Android 7 ? Is it through new ota?
Can't we just side load there official update as we did with the soak test ota? I mean others who are on soak test build and didn't receive the official update.

Is the thread not clear ? I will update the thread to be more specific.
If you are on soak test currently! Then the only way as far as i know to go to the Official update is by first downgrading to marshmallow and then flashing the New OTA via recovery , you cannot directly flash(sideload) the official ota on the nougat soak test.
That's because the update is for marshmallow devices and the ota checks before installing if the phone is running the latest official marshmallow only then it flashes.
how to root?
Just installed the OTA through sideloading.
So, i couldn't wait until it ACTUALLY gets rolled out to everyone, therefore I used the OTA zip to sideload it.
Initial impression - I was actually surprised by the lack of changes on Nougat. But that's just me having used a Pixel.
Anyways, the Notification dropdown/slide is different, and slightly counter-intuitive than MM. In MM it was easy to turn on or off WiFi/Bluetooth/Data (single tap), whereas in N, you'll need 2 taps. The transitions on the notification shade are liquid-smooth, so :good:
On init, it asked me to reconfigure my SIM, where i found a particularly interesting menu... Emergency contact information... Good stuff, don't know if it was available in MM.
A cool new feature is the fingreprint to lock... Great :good:
The settings have a slightly revamped UI, but not by that much... Still feels a lot like MM.
The app drawer is the same. Was actually stupid of me to expect the Pixel launcher.
Didn't feel any changes in camera (image/video).
Opening the lockscreen is a little laggy using pattern. Opening it through fingerprint is still lightning fast.
App loading & use still the same as MM (Maybe apps need additional updates to support N).
Battery life virtually the same as stock MM.
Oh, PS - Was on stock MM, locked bootloader. Updated to N without data wipe.
Hello, could any early adopter of nougat update for G4 Plus confirm one exciting feature of android 7 (atleast for me) that it works on this phone software.
As of Android 7.0 phone can read 2G/3G/LTE frequency WITHOUT root(Google RIL version 12). Easiest way is to install app Cellmapper(mapping cell towers to map) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cellmapper.net.cellmapper
Could anyone run this app(enable "Use new Android 4.2 Cell ID API" in settings) and post screenshot while connected to LTE only(no wifi)? Also, maybe send debug report from settings menu to developer with screenshot.
Thank you very much.

Sorry i didnt add credits. The second link(mirror) i gave is the the update that i got. And moreover i confirmed from motorola support and they said it has started to roll out in batches. They have also updated the release notes if you havent seen

I have owned previously Moto G 1st gen and 2nd Gen and in all of them to , you couldnt go from soak test to The official firmware with out unlocking bootloader. And i dont think this will be an exception but you guys can wait for the official release to hit everyone.
I have looked this morning and there where no release notes. I did check the site now is still no notice of upgrade:
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/country-selector/software-upgrade
I guess this confusion is because of Moto...
There are any news about nougat for XT1641?
Hi, I tried to install it from MM on my 1642 and it gave me an error with signature verification
