Get Chromecast Functionality from Factory Images - Nexus Player General

Hi folks,
I was wondering if it would be possible to port the Chromecast functionality to other ROMs. I'd like to have the real thing, and not some sort of Cheapcast or Leapcast that doesn't work with version 2 of the API.
Maybe someone with some knowledge would have some insight on the matter?
Thanks

Possible to link 3 android tablets together for 2 player card game?

Hey guys, I had an idea to develop a card game "app" for android that will utilize 3 android tablets: 2 touchscreen and 1 regular lcd screen. The 2 touchscreens will be for 2 players, while the LCD screen will be a larger display that will show cards shuffling/dealing, etc. I am assuming some hardware modification will be required, but I believe this should be doable. Each tablet essentially has it's own PCB+Processor/CPU and has USB + mini-USB ports. Couldn't the 3 be linked by USB/mini-USB and then a custom android game developed to have it running on all 3? Let me know guys, I'm real excited to have found this forum and to learn more about Android. Thanks in advance!
Seems to me that you wouldn't really need the third unit. You could just display the common elements on both clients. This would also support doing network play when the two players aren't in the same room (or even on the same continent).
does anyone else have any suggestions? im trying to find out info and/or someone capable to help me with this project. should i post in a different section? thanks guys.

[Q] USB Port Access

Hello there dear Android devs!
I have a question about the USB port.
Do any of you have any information whether it's possible to use the USB port manually with an app with Android? I have an idea that needs access to a hardware interface that needs to be connected directly to the Android device..
I might be able to use the bluetooth connection, but that would involve a lot more hardware development, and I'd rather avoid that.
So my question is, do you know any way for an app to use the Mini USB port with an external hardware interface?
Hope you have some good news
//Enslave
Edit: If you have any information if this would be possible on WP7 or iPhone, I'd appreciate hints to that too, but I'd rather use Android to be honest
Sorry to bump this, but surely someone must have some information?
I really wanna get this app off the ground! And it's gonna be something really really cool when it's done.. If it's possible that is ^^

[Q] Newbie: simplest way to make Phone apps Android TV compatible

Hi - I'm a newbie and frankly knows next to nothing about Android app development. There are lots of great apps out there that would be great to use on the big screen via Android TV (the only device out there now is the Nexus Player), but unusable on Nexus Player because they requires either gesture or mouse. This leads me to think that there must be a relatively easy way to take the APK and update the code so that I can use the d-pad remote for the Nexus Player.
Can anyone point me the way?
Thanks!
Frank

Question: hardware capabilities of Samsung s6 - looking to mod s6 into monitor

Does the capability to direct video input through the usb jack on the phone exist- perhaps as an unused feature?
I have a tmobile s6, I am hoping to use it as part of a project, and I would much rather not have to mod the hardware of the phone. The attractiveness of a sleek and complete device with its own battery, charger and a high-res screen is hard to pass up.
There are a lot of solutions out there to use a smartphone as a monitor- most are crazy hacks and/or rely on some flavor of remote desktop, and that's not going to be good enough for my project- I need snappy video with very little if any delay, and I am hoping to find a way to take a functioning android s6 (hopefully only with software) get it to work as a monitor.
I am hoping that either an app or modding an android distro might result in some viable solution. Does anyone know about this? Thank you in advance for any help.

Is it possible to write HAL or Kernal Driver for Camera

I'm hoping someone may let me know if it's possible to write a Driver to access the Android Cameras' directly rather than the OEM's or the Camera API?
I'm looking to have an app that can access both Front and Back cameras at the same time for devices that have dual video processors and looking to hire a developer to do "this" if it's possible.
I imagine it would most likely be C++ at the Linux Kernal or HAL level?
I'm not sure if there's anything at that level that would prevent an app from using it's own driver either?
Android 9 now allows for Dual/Multi Camera support but at that higher level, the Camera2 API only works for some devices. Have tried on Galaxy S4, S6 and S9 all running Android 9 and only the S4 worked.
Any information would help me to see if it's worth pursuing and greatly appreciated.
Just wanted to renew this question. Hoping someone can let me know if it's possible to do this?
