Possible to link 3 android tablets together for 2 player card game? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hey guys, I had an idea to develop a card game "app" for android that will utilize 3 android tablets: 2 touchscreen and 1 regular lcd screen. The 2 touchscreens will be for 2 players, while the LCD screen will be a larger display that will show cards shuffling/dealing, etc. I am assuming some hardware modification will be required, but I believe this should be doable. Each tablet essentially has it's own PCB+Processor/CPU and has USB + mini-USB ports. Couldn't the 3 be linked by USB/mini-USB and then a custom android game developed to have it running on all 3? Let me know guys, I'm real excited to have found this forum and to learn more about Android. Thanks in advance!

Seems to me that you wouldn't really need the third unit. You could just display the common elements on both clients. This would also support doing network play when the two players aren't in the same room (or even on the same continent).

does anyone else have any suggestions? im trying to find out info and/or someone capable to help me with this project. should i post in a different section? thanks guys.

[Q] Most flexible Android tablet? (run multiple OS version easily, from SD card?)

My office is looking to buy a few tablets to test our apps/sites on, and I'm looking for suggestions on which Android Tablet is the most flexible in terms of running different versions of Android (and maybe where to better post this question?)
One thing i love aboot my HTC HD2, is that i can switch to various ROMs from the SD card on the fly, which makes it brilliant for testing things like HTML5 video on different Android versions. Is there a tablet like that?
Looking forward to some suggestions, thanks.

Home Automation (Insteon/X10)

Only saw one mention of this in these forums (ViewSonic in particular), but being a big fan of random acts of technology, I am totally into the home automation thing.
Been using X10 for a number of years with fairly good success but recently started building my Insteon house of power. Much more expensive but also much more powerful and reliable. Still getting it up and running, but wondering if anyone here has played with the Insteon SmartLinc Web Control on this thing. It was designed around the iPhone/Touch in particular, but any web-enabled device should work.
That being said, anyone here find apps that work well with this format to control home automation? The closest thing I can find is Conductor but you need to have the ISY-99 in order to use it.
I have read about some others, AutoHTN and HCA: Home Control Assistant most notably, but not really getting a good sense that those are the best avenues to tread down.
Perhaps the best breakdown I have found is at "The Android Authority" that I unfortunately cannot link to yet.
What hardware are you using? I have some X10, and Autom8 is compatible with the cm15a usb controller. Run the server on windows pc, and then software on android.

I have switched to pure Insteon components right now. As it stands I am running just the SmartLinc, but I foresee myself going the ISY-99 route in the future as I continually expand my system.

I will check that out. I have a certifiable butt-load of X-10 stuff, but I am hesitant to mix and match the two systems at this point as I have researched quite a bit and read about constant interference issues between the two interfaces.
I am really excited to start playing with this, as the potential to have a full size touch screen whole house remote with all the other things that it is capable of. I need to head over to the Insteon forums and see if anyone else is working on custom apps for Android related to this as well. A few mentions of things elsewhere on these boards, but nothing really mind blowing that I have found.

Game devs: Where's my Keyboard and Mouse compatability?

Andy has a problem. Game devs can help. Now that tablets are powerful and cheap enough, many users are using them with keyboard and mice to have a small desktop experience. Problem is most devs only write code for touch controls. This makes trying to play a game with keyboard and mouse a real chore.
There are a couple of ways to do that all based as far as I know, on having to buy someones software that will help you configure the mouse and keyboard to work with your game. It should NOT be this way. All Andy games should have both touch controls and keyboard and mouse controls enabled. It's silly not to do so - you limit your potential sales which is dumb.
Come on guys.. whats the deal? Why haven't we seen a push to add this functionality to most Andy games? Is it simply because up till now there hasn't been a lot of call for non touch screen peripherals? It seems to me, when small Android Phones morphed into it's sister product, larger more powerful Android Tablets - Android developers failed to make a distinction and treat their apps accordingly. Now there is and will be an ever growing distinction between the two because tablets are getting bigger and more powerful. Will you guys be willing to do this, now that keyboard and mouse use on Android is becoming more wide spread?
You guys better consider this - there are tablets now being sold that will dual or triple boot between Android, Windows and almost any version of Linux you can imagine. People will not only want but Need this functionality in games who choose not to rely so heavily on the touch controls.
Console OS (looks like they are partnering with Intel) is shipping in Dec on real tablet hardware and has a free version PC users can download. Console OS is an Android fork that's designed for gaming and to dual boot with Windows - but it's designed to be powerful enough in style and function to replace your everyday desktop. That's impressive. This will be huge and cause Android Games to require mouse and keyboard support even more. We know the public wants this because this was funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign raising 75.000 dollars.
A simple enough solution to help get more sales for your games is a no brainer seems to me. The Windows and Linux guys will play their games with mouse and keyboard on that same hardware, but they will not buy the Android games. You will lose half your new potential customer base. This will also encourage the user to stay within that Windows or Linux system and Not switch so much into Android. Not doing this can actually hurt the Android market share and use!
What do you think?
(This thread is not a question but hopefully will start a serious discussion on this issue. Mods please feel free to move this to the Gaming subforum.. I think you have one but I cannot seem to find it since I signed up.)

[Completed] integrating android into factory touch screen?

Hi Guys,
This is my first post but I've used lots of the information on this website over the years. I build custom automotive interiors and have in the past 5 years integrated dozens of android and ios systems into cars. I'm trying to figure out a way to skip all the fabrication of dash bezels by directly integrating into the existing factory lcd touch screens.
I would like to use the existing touch screen in my Ford Edge to interface with an android tablet.
Ideally I'd like to take an existing tablet or phone that I own (Galaxy tab 2 10.1 or Galaxy s4 phone) and send the touch and video information to my stock Ford Screen
CarPerformance .se has a kit that includes an android system with a board that switches the source being sent to the screen with the push of a button allowing you to switch between the Ford information screen, android computer with touchsceen interfacing and video inputs
below is a link to the install instructions and a video of its operation
carperformance.se/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/My-ford-touch-Android-install-manual.pdf
carperformance.se/?product=2001-2014-ford-edge-android-system
(links are broken because I'm too new to post links)
I would like to know if there is a prebuilt video switcher similar to the one above that would allow me to switch between sources and woulld allow me to connect one of my android devices
The reason I want to do this on my own instead of ordering the above product is that it runs older android software and does not have cellular capability.
if someone could point me to the right information I would greatly appreciate it as I'm sure these screens are fairly universal however I don't know what exactly to search.

Setting up a tablet as a 3rd or 4th PC monitor

Hey guys.
So i just bought a couple of tablets (Samsung Tab 4 and an iPad mini) for almost no money at all.
I won't really be using these tablets for their normal purpose. I personally don't really use any apps - am more for optimizing my PC.
Instead, i'm looking to strip them of their OS and to connect them as a 3rd and 4th monitor for my PC.
Some things are nice to do with a touch screen - like browsing ebay and also to compare color graded videos on tablets, which my viewers often use to watch my works. But i don't have any use of anything else from the android or iOS side.
I know that there are lots of apps and so forth to be doing similar things, but i do not wish to keep the Android or iOS elements. I just want the tablets to work just like a simple monitor (i am willing to rebuild them if this is needed).
I can't find any good information regarding this though, as most threads (both here and on other sites) refer me to apps - which is contraproductive to my purpose - having small touch-screen monitors for my PC.
Is there anyone that has any ideas on how to modify tablets to work as simple monitors for a PC?
thanks in advance!

I would like to add, that using them wirelessly (with USB/Bluetooth docks would be quite a nice feature!!!).
I don't think it can be done the way you want unless you tear them apart completely, connect the touch and LCD flat to some kind of converter and leave the rest hanging behind.
This is if you want to use them both like real monitors.
Try stuff like Duet (for the iPad) and spacedesk for the android.
I have no idea how will they like each other, but worths a try.
You're out of luck, you got practically no chance of using them as stand-alone monitors.
The best you could do is use some kind of a remote viewing software on the tablets, and handle it that way.
