My brand new Moto G, just ready to use, no response to touch. I just turned on the phone and it reached the Lock screen. I swiped it many times, phone not unlock. I pushed the power button to get the shut down screen, no response when touching the Power Off. I cannot turn it off now. Phone could receive phone call, just the screen does not respond.
Any help is appreciated.

BEFORE ALL THIS: IF YOU HAVE WARRANTY USE IT!!!
There might be hardware damage but try this first. Hopefully you had already enabled usb debugging to make a backup, if so follow these commands:
adb pull /sdcard C:\
There is a way to simulate touchscreen events but you need usb debugging enabled. Reply if you want to see how.
Hard shutdown the phone by holding the power button for 20 seconds ish. Immadietly after the screen goes blank hold vol. down for 2 seconds and while holding it press and hold the power button as well. (Enter bootloader mode) Let go of the buttons after 5 seconds ish. Then choose recovery from the bootloader menu. This can be a bit tricky, you will see an android robot with a red exclamation point. At this point you need to rapidly press the vol. up and power button together. (Spamming them might work) (This video might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjNXkRtEQlo) Then choose wipe cache from the recovery menu. Reboot and see if it works. If not, try a factory reset from the recovery menu by following the steps above.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the response. I tried the recovery mode and then factory reset. Still screen was not responding to touch. I am going to return this phone to Sears. I don't know whether I should get another one or get a Moto E.
My opinion: get another moto g, you don't get as much bang for the buck with the moto e. Or get the moto g 4glte or moto g 2. So many options lol.

hi guys,
i just god nexus from a second hand store. i want to hard reset it but it does't.
it is stuck in the screen where the little green guy with the triangle with an exclamation mark next to it. please help.
is there a way to load the factory rom manually?
(i know how to jailbrake and downgrade an iphone so this should not be so hard)
Hold volume down and press on once you see menu with recovery
press volume again and you will see option for clear storage - thats what you want
that is what i have done already. but why is the mobile preventing me from hard reset ?
I have been hanging around the XDA forums (as well as every other forum I could think of) and have been unable to solve my re-set problem.
I got my Nexus S about a week ago and decided to unlock it. That went well, no problem. Then I decided to root using Superboot - that did not go well. Now my phone is unresponsive, just sits on the Google name with an unlocked padlock on a black screen. I can get into fastboot mode by using the volume up and power button if I do this right after replacing the battery. I cannot seem to go anywhere else. Once I got into a menu that would let me install from sd card, but none of the options would install. I followed the following directions to see if I could do a hard reset:
Hard reset Nexus S using hardware buttons
This option is recommended if you are unable to access the options via the Android OS.
1. Turn the phone off by pressing and holding the Power button for about 2 seconds, the tapping Power off. Alternately, you can pull the and replace the battery.
2. Press and hold the Volume Down button while pressing and releasing the Power button.
3. Continue to hold the Volume Down button until you see a menu appear.
4. Now tap the Volume Down button to scroll down to the Clear Storage option.
5. Press the Power button to select Clear storage.
6. Press Volume Up to select Yes.
After a few minutes the hard reset process will be completed and you can reboot your phone to factory default settings.
I never get to the clear storage option, although I have tried data/factory reset and wipe cache. I can get to the android with the triangle and exclamation point but that will just sit for ever, and removing the battery at that point and then rebooting does not work. It just takes me back to the Google and the unlocked padlock. FWIW - my phone updated right before I unlocked it. I don't think it is bricked, but I sure can't get passed the Google name or the Triangle/android.
Thanks for any help.
heliosue
I've the same problem now - did you ever resolve yours?
Here is how
Power off by removing battery
Hold vol up not down and power,
release power and you get Fastboot mode
vol down to recovery and click power
You get the screen with Android + triangle
Click up and Power again for few seconds
you will get the 'Android Sys recovery'
However if you have my problem 'error in loading the built in SDcard memory this wont help.
The only way i managed to get it to work some times although not now, is to reboot the mobile while it is connected to a PC, and load the PC at the same time.
However this time i am stuck at Google screen
hi guys
have same problem for no reason, the nexus s just keeps rebooting its selp for no reason, i get the power manager error when its booted up
i have tryed to reset from setting and no go, it reboot before i get too far and i tryed to reset from powering up with one finger on vol up and other on power button, i get into recovery and see the android and then i barly see the android on his back with ! and it reboots into its self with out resetting
this has never happened before and i dont know why
i moved some of stuff to usb storeage but that all i done lately
any ideas
So, I was trying to flash my NS back to stock from TWRP becuase my power button's broke and I'm sending it in.
Anyways, TWRP crashed during flashing (wow....recovery crashing NOT good), and I cant boot the phone except by plugging it in from being off. However, when I hold vol up and get to bootloader by doing that, the bootloader is completely unresponsive to vol presses, and my comp doesnt see the device.
This is NOT good. But I'm clueless as to how to fix something like a bootloader issue. Anyone?
I would try odin. Search around the Samsung webiste they should have an exe which flashes the phone back to factory default. I've seen one posted around here but it depends which version of the phone you have.
Odin requires very careful use. DO NOT CLEAR YOUR EFS!
It may be your only option though.
If you can jimmy your power button and get into the normal bootloader then follow these steps:
1) install Ubuntu
2) install Android sdk for gb or ics whichever you are using
3) install fastboot (download it from cyanogenmod wiki and copy it to Ubuntu's sbin folder)
4) in bootloader menu, connect USB, then in Ubuntu terminal type fastboot reboot recovery (may be reboot-recovery, can't remember)
You should be able to use your phones capacitive buttons to navigate the menu and install a stock ROM
Sent from above
Yeah. Totally forgot you can do that. Try what he said.
Problem is, fastboot doesn't work. The bootloader is completely unresponsive.
It's like it launches into a crash. I can see the options, but the vol buttons dont do anything. However, those buttons work, otherwise I wouldnt be able to even get THAT far.
I'm trying to get the power button to register a press (it randomly does, but Ive had hours of no luck).
Any other ideas? Why would the bootloader launch into a crash. I wonder if it's because the phone is being turned on via power cable instead of the pwr button, but that seems unlikely.
On a side note, I have my efs backup from when I was using 2.3.7, so I've got it handy if I can ODIN the thing, but I dont know crap about odin.
Read his response again. I don't think you understood what he said. You can initiate those commands through your PC instead of pushing the buttons.

Sorry, I should have elaborated more.
I have tried on both my PC and Mac (via terminal app) to see the device under 'fastboot devices' command. No devices show up, so it's not even seeing the thing. Neither computer sees the device as being hooked up, as far as I can tell.
It'll boot into the unresponsive bootloader when I plug the cable in and hold vol up. At that point, nothing else happens. Doesnt show up on fastboot, etc.
sounds like your power button went. thats the #1 complaint i read about the power button going, the unresponsive volume buttons. my power button is gone to(will register a response every once in a while, on its own. my volume buttons dont register either when in the bootloader. but, i can get them to register. what i do is take the battery cover of, and gently flick the phone with my fingers right near the power button, but on the back of the phone. most the time, the power button will register that i pressed reboot bootloader, but, sometimes it allows me to select up or down with the volume keys. if it reboots bootloader, i just try again. ive got it down to an art since im in the bootloader often, it takes me about 20 seconds to get the volume keys going up or down. at first it would take me 3-5 minutes. i hope that helps.

LOL simms thanks. I had a feeling you might chime in here since I had msg'd you earlier about my pwr button going out.
The thing that sucks is that I was just restoring it to stock in TWRP and it just locked up for some reason. I knew as soon as it happened that I was in trouble. I'll keep messing with it and see if I can get it to register 'Reboot Bootloader'.
I was actually wondering about that earlier. I figured that if the vol keys didnt work, then the pwr button wouldnt either in this situation. I know mine randomly registers presses, but now it's being a *****.
We'll see......
try going into the bootloader and give it a few smack on the back, see if thatll register and "press" reboot bootloader(since its the first option). the first time i went into the boatloader after my power button went, i thought that i was **** out of luck too. but, it turned out fairly very manageable with some practice. i usually flick it very lightly to get the volume buttons to move up and down, to hard and reboot boorloader registers.
hello. I have a tablet motorola xoom family edition mz505 what I say is this. tapeworm blocked with blocking pattern and not remember the unlock. the second is that I do not remember the PASSWORD of google. I tried using buttons give it a factory restoration and will not let me. I have done the following. 1. Turn the unit - if not
Two. Hold down the volume down button at the same time, press the power button and hold them both down for 3-5 seconds.
Three. While holding the volume down button, the power button and enable or disable the screen lock slider a few times (next to the volume button).
April. The display now - "Booting recovery kernel image" and displays the Android robot and the unit is now in the reset phase.
May. Since this is a reboot of the device, it is normal to see "Please wait for pre-loading data", this process takes about 6-8 minutes. I also made this method. I have also pressing the minus volume button and then turn on for 2 seconds and nothing to do. also I have to give the power button and as soon get the motorola logo I press the volume down and nothing to do. I need your help. gracias.si could I somehow flash it to say I thank
Flash
So you don't know your unlocking pattern ?
If you had Android Debugging on maybe there were some chances. As for the flash, you need an usb cable and the right files with the right version and location.
where I get the files needed to flash this model? I'm from Puerto Rico
now oceeze
Either https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/rom-images or droid-developers or from an user .
But really watch out the version and the location. And the battery. And watch out while flashing.
***You have been warning.
*** I am not responsible for anything that happens.
And why motorola offers this for mz606 and not for mz 616? @motorola: The bootloader ... and the Jelly Bean. Don't forget! L0l

Swipe 3D Life plus tab -- hard reset
Hi Everyone,
I know how troublesome it is to unlock a Swipe 3D life plus tablet. Truly speaking . there is no way to unlock it other than hard resetting it. Even if your tablet is under warranty, the company through their service centers charge you around 250 bucks which is quite annoying.
After a lot of attempts, i figured out the way to hard reset it. It is exactly the same as you would hard reset a Google Nexus 7 tab.
So here is the procedure (follow carefully)
1) Switch off your tablet
2) Your tablet has only three buttons, one for power and a combined button for vol - and vol +.
3) Press and hold Power until the device powers on, then immediately press and hold Volume Down(while still pressing Power).
4) Within a few seconds, it would say: Encryption unsuccessful and you can find a menu on screen saying "Reset Tab".
5) Just select that "Reset Tab" option. it would show android logo (do nothing , just wait a couple of seconds)It would automatically shutdown and boot up again.
6) This time it will take a little longer to load.
7) Finally It will prompt you to the home screen.
Hope this helps !!!

Hi,
My tf300t got its screen cracked so touch screen is non functional.
I'm trying to turn it off so I can open the case, but it always reboots no matter what I try!
Tried long pressing the power button for 30 seconds but it always reboot after 8 seconds.
Any suggestions? I don't want to open it up while it's on .
Can I shut it down from fastboot mode?

I remember there was a manual Power off option in TWRP (idk if it is still there). Have you tried that?

I have the stock bootloader - it says
Code:
"Adroid cardhu-user bootloader (1.00 e) released by "WW_epad_10.4.2.9-20120809" A03
I'm inclined against flashing a bootloader (only as last resort).
I am able to get into fastboot and issue fastboot commands. will that help?
"fastboot reboot" only reboots..
by the way, the device is still locked (getvar returns "unlocked: no")..

How did you turn it off if the touchscreen wasn't working? By pressing the power button would cause it to reboot endlessly. If you don't have a dock or adapter to power off properly, one thing I did before was to click the reset button (through the hole below the SD card slot) and press the power button simultaneously, then keep holding the power button for 10 seconds after releasing the reset. It did turn off the tab completely. Failing that, just pop off the back cover and turn off the service switch. The cover is not connected to anything electronic so it's ok. That'd cut off the current to the tab. It can be done, just be careful.

I didn't turn it off, that's the problem.. I got it yesterday from a guy after his screen cracked.
he gave it to me turned on and I want to replace the screen, so the only thing I can use are the hard buttons.
I only have the power adapter + usb cable.
are you sure about that reset button thing?
EDIT: found info about the "service switch": http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46159071&postcount=5
EDIT2: did it! thanks graphdarnell!!
now moving to step 2 - ordering a replacement digitizer..
