stupid freaking company.......
I got the update OTA few minutes ago, downloaded the update then applied and now my phone is not working anymore....
All i get is iu system stopped working
i have a nexus 5 stock non rooted
i tried to reboot the phone several times
Also tried volume down and power, but the only options i have is:
recovery mode (wich do nothing).
restart bootloader(wich do nothing)
start
or exit
Im not even able to go back in my options to do a factory reset
help me please and fast before i throw this phone into the wall
EDIT:
after calming down a little, i found how to do a factory reset in the recovery mode, phone is formating /data atm
You can factory reset by booting to recovery. So go back to the bootloader (Volume down and Power). Then you should see an android with an exclamation mark and the words "No Command". From there, hold the power button & tap Volume UP one time. That'll boot you into recovery mode.
Now I know performing a factory reset from within android will completely wipe the phone, I'm not sure if it's the same with a stock recovery. So if I were you I would ADB pull the contents of your /sdcard before performing the factory reset. After that just use the volume keys to navigate to perform factory reset and power key to select.
It also might be worth a shot to only wipe cache the first time you go to recovery and then reboot and see if that worked. If not, pull your data to PC and then factory reset.
Calm down more first

thanks,
well i went directly to factory reset, we'll see.
when i changed from my n4 to n5, i had a backup and i also have a backup from my email account so i guess i wont loose everything
the only "customisation" i did was to change some icons on my N5, i dont understand why i got that iu system error
Sure, no problem.
Hopefully the factory reset fixes it for you. If not and you need some more help installing the factory images via fastboot, just holler.

hi all
i am trying to do a factory reset to my nexus S but i faced some problems, the phone cant be reset to factory settings. my phone is on 2.3.4 and is rooted
i had tried the following steps
1) going to Settings>Privacy>Reset phone
after i confirm to wipe everything, the phone rebooted and it will stuck at the "Google" logo (in words) with the fastboot unlock logo at the bottom. i took off the battery to shutdown the phone (anything i press at this moment does not get any response from the phone) and start it up again. once it is started (it get pass the google word logo if i do it this way) all my application and even my themes are still there
2) shutting down the phone. press volume up + power button. choose recovery
same thing happen as above. it cant get pass the google word logo and once i restart the phone by plugging out the batt, it went back to previous state without wiping anything
i search online guide and also youtube video and all of them shows that the recovery will bring you to a android with a exclamation mark (in the triangle) but i cant get to the screen. i had left my phone there for 30 minutes but it is still stuck at the google logo.
Please help

thanks for the feedback. now i am trying to flash it but i faced "adb device not found" error
ok done
managed to flash it back to an older version and everything works now
thanks a lot for your help! cheers
Make sure to update it eventually because you could run into issues when flashing stuff if your recovery isn't up to date.
No problem!
trying to update to ics did a factory reset in recovery then installed
Eos-wingray-1.0.0 Tiamat-Xoom-3.0.5-gpuoc plus google aps my xoom is currently stock on the wheel loading screen it just keeps going. I have no idea what to do.
Did you also wipe cache and Dalvik cache?
To do a hard reboot hold down the volume up and power buttons for a few seconds...your XOOM should reboot, when you see the red Motorola logo wait 3 seconds and hit volume down...you should see "android recovery" in the upper left corner, when you do, hit volume up to enter recovery.
Also just wanted to make sure, are you currently rooted with your bootloader unlocked and a custom recovery installed?

Yea I also wiped both caches I did a nandriod backup to my last working install a tiamat kernal. I have tried multiple times with no luck the install goes kernal rom then apps right? I'm rooted and the bootloader is unlocked just flashed the lastest recovery still no luck.
I think I have figured it out I have encrypted my xoom which is keeping me from clearing the cache and other things I have tryed a factory wipe but the encryption is still there.
I had the same problem. I could use adb to open a shell on the xoom once the encrypt access password had been entered, but the xoom itself would not get past the boot animation. I eventually had to 'fastboot erase userdata' to clear the encryption out. This erases entire /data directory, so all my files had to be restored from my pc backup. You might be able to back them up through the adb shell if you don't already have them backed up on another device (I don't know for sure).

Hi! I had Android 3.1 on my TF101 and it was already rooted, I updated CWM to 6.0 and in recovery I can't mount storage, and I can't do anything...when trying to reboot it stucks at the boot logo (I think i formatted, wiped system but not sure). And when I trying to do a Factory reset, it freezes at: Formatting /data... So? Can somebody help me please? Oh, and when I trying to reboot with power, and volume down, it says something like this: Press Vol Up to enter recovery in 5 secs. If I dont press it, it brings me to a menu, like this: Press vol up to execute, ot vol down to skip wipe. I've tried both options but I think it freezes...or I didn't wait as much as it needs (10 mins about)??

Hiya have you tried this yet?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688012
this should get you back to a fresh start but whay where you trying to do?
I'm guessing you used ROM Manager to install CWM.
Use EasyFlasher as noted by all43 to install a working recovery - I highly recommend TWRP. Then put your ROM on a microSD formatted for FAT32z
Boot to recovery (VOL DOWN and POWER for 12-15 sec, then tap VOL UP to enter RCK)
Then wipe cache, Davlik, format system and factory reset.
Install ROM and if applicable GAPPS and Kernel.
Reboot
Profit
Thanks, Easy Flasher solved my problem
Hello.
I have recently attempted to update my P6800's firmware from stock Android 4.0.4 to a custom 4.4 version (one of Daniel_hk's firmwares.)
I have wiped data cache and user data, and the firmware, when I attempted to install it, gave me an "E: signature verification error" error. Attempts to reboot or to install a stock 4.0.4 or 3.2 firmwares from the microSD card failed with similar errors.
I was told I can flash the device via Odin, reducing it to 3.2 and then upping the versions properly, but I cannot switch the device on into download mode, because it is stuck in usual recovery mode.
Please help.

The options I get are
Reboot the device
Install stuff from SD card/navigate on SD card
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Apply update from cache.
Which of them is the option you describe? Do I need to put the bootloader on the SD?

Greetings and welcome to assist. You are in stock recovery there so the option to reboot to bootloader is missing. You should be able to power down the tablet then boot into download mode with the power button and volume key
Good Luck

Do I need for it to fully lose charge? It just switches on to recovery if I let it run until the battery is dry, then charge it again. Powering it down treats the power button as enter button, so I cannot actually switch it off (unless I am doing something wrong.)
Thanks for the welcome, I appreciate your help.

There are only the power button and volume button on your device, no physical home button like a phone ? If press and hold volume down and power the phone should reboot showing the samsung logo. Let this happen twice then let go it should go into download mode
I tried rooting my brand new Mate 9. I unlocked the bootloader, but the wipe that followed failed for some reason. In the eRecovery there's no option to Wipe Data / Factory Reset and when I try to log in at the start screen, the keyboard is not showing up, so I can't even log in. Tried wiping through ADB, but it doesn't even see the device. Any other way to wipe it, so I can proceed with installing TWRP and rooting this sucker. Thanks in advance!
You can boot to fastboot and flash twrp.
While the usb plugged in,hold volume down and power, when the phone vibrate remove power button and keep pressing volume down.
For stock recovery, remove the usb, hold volume up and power and when you see the logo, remove power and keep pressing volume up.
You can copy a keyboard apk on ur sd card and install when you are in the system, just skip the log in screens.
Thanks! I managed to install TWRP and boot to it to do a factory reset, thinking that it will resolve my login issue. Now I'm stuck in bootloop.
And if I try to boot into TWRP again by pressing Volume Up + Volume Down + Power it boots me into eRecovery that wants to perform an update, which after 5% fails saying: The update package does not exist.
So I can't even get back to TWRP nor the system.
Any advice to resolve this?

well to boot into recovery just use vol up+power and release once u see the huawei logo.btw when your factory reset fail during unlocking BL you can manually boot into the system and reset thru settings again.
Never do factory reset via twrp. It does not support huawei's data partition.
To avoid bootloop, just flash stock recovery and do factory reset with it. You need flash additional stock zips to restore additional apps and themes.
I had exactly the same problem as you. After rooting and start wipe, the factory reset seems had not finished well and the phone booted to lock screen with password field, but without keyboard...
Only procure that worked for me was rebranding the phone and installing another full room using Funky Huawei. Yes I know it is a paid service but I believe you will be happy to know it can help you.
Good luck
