[Q] LTE and cell reception problems after flashing Lollipop factory image - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Cheers people,
I've been having some trouble since upgrading to lollipop. Since flashing the lollipop factory image, something happened to the carrier settings on my nexus 5, I keep losing reception and LTE has stopped working -- only 3g/h is still working. I've tried resetting to factory conditions, the condition persists.
One thing that I've managed to find out by googling is that I should try updating my profile and PRL -- the trouble is, none of the instructions on how to do it work for me. I'm in Croatia, on t-mobile's cheapo virtual carrier 'bonbon'. I don't have the option in 'About phone', I don't have the option under 'Carrier settings', in fact I don't have the 'Carrier settings' option under 'Cellular network settings' at all. I've even tried ##UPDATE# and it doesn't work, though that may be Sprint specific. Does anyone have an idea how I could update my profile/PRL, or how I could get back LTE, and possibly boost my cell reception, because I suspect that's part of the same problem.
I've tried rooted and unrooted, with the stock and franco kernel.
Any ideas? I'm really getting really frustrated with this

Okay, answering myself for posterity: I just flashed the kitkat factory image, LTE came back and reception improved. Then I accepted the OTA, everything seems to be working fine now. It seems that the factory image had screwed up my APN settings for whatever reason. Looks like it's sometimes better to get the OTA update than to flash the factory image.

[Q] Lost 3G, all hope gone?

Alright, the short of it, I flashed the wrong radio. I flashed an AT&T radio by mistake and I own a T-Mobile Nexus S. So, afterwards I realized that I no longer had 3G because of it most likely.
In a bid to try and fix it, I have tried everything I can think of. I have disabled and re-enabled data, re-flashed KB3, APN switching, check in menu with all types of settings, re-flashed customs ROMs, tried to revert to backups, and at this point I'm up to returning to stock and system updating to GRJ22. Still with no 3G data.
Is there anything I'm missing? Does anybody have any suggestions? The last option I can think of would be to get a new SIM card since my SIM is from before T-Mobile had 3G and I've heard they can have problems with 3G. I should also note that my signal has been pretty weak, not making it better than -100 db. at best most of the time.

My AT&T One X looses network connectivity PROBLEM

Hi,
I have an HTC One XL from AT&T.
It is SIM UNLOCKED and BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED. It is running CleanROM.
The problem is that my phone looses 3G connectivity and the only way to recover it it's rebooting the phone. The 3G still shows but there is no activity and the apps try to connect until they say "network problem".
I don't use it on AT&T as I live overseas. I do not have LTE so my phone is set to "WCDMA preferred"
I tried with other roms (CyanogenMOD 10, MIUI, etc.) and with almost every RADIO (flashing them with TRWP Recovery and wiping cache/dalvik after).
When 3G/HDSPA works, internet works really fast... but then it "disconnects" and everything sucks.
What do you recommend?
Best Regards.
Not a fix, but have you tried turning airplane mode on/off rather than restarting your phone?
I used to get this problem constantly with stock. Once I installed Viper, I haven't had a problem since. Don't know enough about radios to tell you if a new rom flashes a different radio though.
Try going into recovery, and wiping cache and Dalvik. Similar to area51avenger, I've had this same problem on a couple ROMs, and wiping cache and Dalvik fixed it. Might not work for everyone, but it can't hurt.
My friend i aleady tried that without any good result.

do you have the right APN? if you dont have the correct apn for the LTE network then it will drop connection whenever it searches for one. Maybe just run on WCDMA/gsm instead of WCDMA/GSM/LTE. It solved the problem for me on rogers here in Canada on cleanROM
I have the right APN.
Here we dont have LTE so I run the phone in WCDMA/GSM only... no LTE
Problem persist.
Also replace the phone IS NOT AN OPTION

Is there something like fast dormacy?
Please, need help.
I've had the same experience on both rooted and non-rooted HOX's with various ROMs. I have concluded that it has nothing to do with the ROMs and more to do with the HOX itself but only when not on LTE. Before LTE was turned on in metro Detroit I had this problem constantly. I use the Airplane mode trick to resolve the issue in most cases. Now when I'm in an LTE coverage area my data is very reliable but as soon as I'm somewhere that doesn't have it (rural areas or inside with a poor signal) that ugly problem returns. It sucks because it's clearly a widespread issue that may never get resolved and I don't know who to hate at this point.

[Q] LRX13O T-Mobile Cellular connection issue

I'm with the new Lollipop LRX13O roms.
Somehow, It's getting trouble in connecting T-mobile network. Wi-fi definitely works fine. But, it's struggling to find 2G/3G/LTE and just no bar, or sometime bars with no calls or data.
I already tried resetting APNs, and set the cellular network, but no luck here.
If anyone experiences the same problem, please let me know.
Thanks.
hrm I was afraid that this sort of thing could happen. Ah good old early adoption bugs and whatnot Seems to be a reoccurring theme of late with Android updates and cellular providers. Particularly T-mobile. I know it may seem like a dumb question but have you tried it in different areas ie different towers? how about reboot?
I'm on T-Mobile and I'm doing okay. You could try flashing a different radio and see if it works.
Should add I'll be updating mine as well. Currently on T-Mobile $30 plan. Just have to figure the best method forward yet. Most importantly is getting a good backup image(currently stock with locked bootloader).

Hopefully, this is just a problem only for me. I rebooted multiple times, and actually tried another Stock 5.0 rom, but having the same issue.
For last a couple of days, I didn't have a chance to go out from home, so didn't check from other areas, but tried different places near home though. And weirdly, my wife's Galaxy Note 3 has no problem at all in both call and data.

I re-flashed the LPX13D the Preview Radio, I believe that is the most recent radio. But still no luck. I'm kinda hesitating to flash the KK radio, maybe I should try it anyways.

Yeah I know how that goes. Its kind of amazing that these devices work as well as they do. There's so many things that can cause glitches. Best of luck to you!
Anyways about to take the same plunge myself and upgrade. Most likely going the factory fresh route since its a major revision. A chance to unlock my boot loader anyways. I'm sure however something will break, be incompatible, etc. Right now I'm most nervous about the hotspot functionality with T-mobile still working. On the $30 prepaid plan and with KitKat I had to disable IPv6 otherwise I always got the upsell page before I could use it. Even though I don't tether often its nice to have.
flashed a factory stock 5.0 zip yesterday. Came from Slimroms 8. Flash rom,new radio, elemental kernel and super su zip in that order. No problems with anything here. No connectivity issues, no /sdcard issues, no battery drain issues, nothing.

No Data! Probably stupid question, but....

Hello All,
After coming back from holiday vacation overseas, I noticed my phone wasn't behaving as expected. At the time I was running GPe and yesterday switched back to Scott's CleanROM. In doing so, I noticed that I did not have data. So, I RUU'd to Stock Verizon and it still didn't fix the issue. It's interesting to note that Calls, texts, WiFi all work.
Any advice?
Do a factory reset with stock recovery. installed. That should restore the radios
Nope, tried that earlier. Tried another full RUU and same story. Can make phone calls and text.
Now, back on work iPhone. Man this thing is small. Any other suggestions?

SIM card hosed?
No, thought that too. Dropped it into the 5s and it works fine.

Hmm.. I wonder if your imei etc are still valid. Can you check and make sure that all matches? Did you buy this phone new?
I'm having the same issue. On the Digital High 5.0.1 ROM I have full working 4g/3g WiFi, e.g. Flashing back to a sense ROM the phone sites that its connected to 4g, and I can make calls, texts, but it says that mobile data is disconnected. Nothing I've tried has had an effect.
Flashed the stock RUU a couple times, done resets through the boot loader, recovery, and settings. Flashed the latest firmware a couple times just to be sure. Any help here would be great!

This is exactly my issue. It's quite strange because in the past the RUU wipes everything and restores to factory settings. This time, something strange happens. I tried again last night and a new error message occurred when launching the ROM for the first time. I received an error stating "sim card from unknown source". I swear it has something to do with my travels. Went back to Digital High 5.0.1 and everything works flawlessly.
Bump for some help!

I did not buy it new, but have had it for 6 months. Flashing stock before this resulted in no issues.
One other thing to note, when the phone powers on, when I look under "Network Settings" and the "Preferred Network" it says "Global Mode". Is this correct for Verizon? Not LTA, or CDMA or LET/Legacy 3GPP?
Also, under "Network Preference" I have a list of ~15 Networks to select that are all international carriers. Orange, Vodafone, Movistar etc. Is this happening for anyone else?

That's normal. Also check cdma options. Under apns make sure Verizon has the green dot marked.
If it's not and you can't select it, hit the menu button and select reset to default and reboot.
Going to try and RUU to 4.4.3 and then let the OTA come through and see if that works. Hopefully I'll be able to root later.

Checked this and selected the Verizon APN. No change.
Also, reverted to 4.4.3 then took the OTA to 4.4.4 and no dice. I'm baffled.
I got mine to work finally , flashed the RUU did a reset and then selected the VZWInternet APN under the cdma options in the mobile data section and then rebooted.
Half afraid to flash a new Rom now!
So I have a new problem, maybe some one can help with. My phone will sometimes connect to 4g. Moat of the time I have to go into settings, mobile data and switch it a couple times from CDMA preferred to global before 4g works. Sometimes this works and other times it doesn't. Any help to fix this issue?

Dropped phone now 4g not working.

As the title states, my 4g isn't working, i took a trip out to pittsburgh, while downtown i had terrible coverage. i dropped my phone at one point and noticed a while later that my 4g wasn't working when i did have service. Got back home and i still had no 4g. I have tried factory reseting phone, flashing a ruu back to stock, taking the ota updates, flashing new firmware, and getting and activating a new sim card. I am at my wits end trying to figure this out. im thinking my hardware is broken at this point, but it is still coming up that i get 3g. the data speed is so bad i basically only use it on wifi now. i dont want to have to take it to verizon and have them tell me im sol if they find out was playing with it(root, recovery, roms, etc...) anybody have any input would be most appreciated.
This isn't likely to help if it was caused by physical damage but have you done a factory reset with the stock recovery installed (or after ruu'ing)?
Just tried the reset with the factory recovery. And via hboot. Still stuck on 3g. During the reset via recovery though I kept getting a message saying something to the extent of "No "E" partition found. Cannot format. Retrying." I also used to run an aosp rom as well. That's when I noticed the lack of 4g.
