Version
It upgrades just the interface to kitkat? Or it does actually upgrades the Android version? And what about the kernel?

According to the op, it is still 4.2.2, so just the interface and some apps as mentioned.
Maybe the title should be changed to reflect the fact that this is just "kitkat look & feel" It is certainly misleading.
One doubt though, what about the storage? Specifically the method to increase the device memory by reducing the internal storage.

Can't an actual ROM update be done? I would surely donate and suport it in any way I could

http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/
This adress gives a code for unlocking the bootloader. If someone agrees with avoiding his warranty, would it be possible to develop an actual kitkat ROM?

nice work!
It works! One question can i updte it to 16.0.B.2.16 aftrr install?

Developing an actual KitKat is not possible as we do not have the Source Code for that unfortunately.

Unfortunately you are right because we don't have the source code to make an real update and also we don't have a supporting firmware.
If someone wants to make an actual KitKat update then he/she has to start from making the firmware then making the ROM.... that would be a very time consuming and also would need experts.

I think someone mention that you have to add the loader.sin as on attachment to make it work.
Use 7zip to open ftf file and drag it to the 7zip window
loader.zip
and try this, but I get the same error.
flashing 4.0.4 - 11.0.A.5.5 its ok!

Do you unzip it before place into ftf ?
Make sure you choose the option not to verify when you flash.

no, I use right apktool becasue I don't have any problems to recompile framework jar/apk (1.5.2), error occurs with apps from system/app, not with all apps but with Phone.apk allways. It's frustrating.
About Pure CM, maybe add CrossBreeder? I used seeder and it reducet lags a lot!

[ROM][J] DiXperia 'Rare' | It's time for unusual experience! | 01.09.2013

Firstly, I want to say hi, as I'm new in this XDA section, was being a long time in X10, Play and Neo L development, but now it's time to say knock knock here, so welcome everybody, my name is Damian and please, let me introduce my project for Xperia J .
If you want to see how much I've made check my signature and find my website or look in all my projects post inside XDA .

'Rare' is single project for Xperia J, as this is my new daily device after Xperia X10, so I wanted to make something I like on new device, that's why I'm bringing you this .
DiXperia 'Rare' is my ROM based on official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
Most of features are written below, so start reading this big thread! Hope you still want do that, and use my ROM :fingers-crossed:.
Based on JB 4.1.2, with Sony Xperia apps and framework.
Create Yourself ™ - my own idea. You've seen this in all DiXperias - it's something like "you choose stuff and version you like, and if you need something, you just apply this like extra file. No need to delete tons of apps you don't using and won't" - it's simple, fast, and has potential .
Playstation Certificate.
Walkman player.
Changing music via lockscreen.
Facebook.
Xperia swype keyboard.
Scripts, tricks, tweaks - they promise lot of fun, lot of performance and lot of stability ^^.
I think it's enough but you know it's not everything - I'm sure I missed a lot of features, but it's up to you to test it yourself if you really want to using this ROM.
Just come and get it in second post .
Of course Root + Busybox.
Bootloade can be locked or unlocked, but prefer UL, as it's easier to change Kernels etc..
Required Kernel.
CWM Recovery.
Download ROM (+ optional addons) and put it on your SD Card.
In fastboot mode flash 1_DX_CWM.img file (download below).
Go to CWM Recovery and make Full Wipe and Wipe Cache, then clean your Dalvik, fix Battery and Fix Permissions. (if needed, make /system format too)
Choose .zip to flash and select my ROM. Wait...
Done! Reboot and pull out battery, give few second, then put on battery again.
Next go to fastboot mode again and flash kernel.sin (download below) and turn on device.
Feel free to use it!
==> Important <==
Don't want make mess here, so just go and read Suggestions, cause there are some nice advices to get DXR working like it should (we need change some settings after flashing and booting ROM ).
And bugs are in 3rd post .
Golden-Suggestion -> If you like my work and you are using it right now, please glorify it on your signature with this graphic:
And:
- Don't use any backup! (it doesn't mean you must delete yours, but be sure that it can create some problems. If you replace backup and everything is cool - that's cool! )
- After flash my system give it 1 day for better stability and the second one for applicate all scripts/tweaks/tricks.
- Simple, but no one understand it. If you want to have better battery life just decrase brightness.
- In my opinion, smartassV2 or interactiveX (choose yourself), and frequency of CPU from ~0.3GHz to ~1.3GHz gives awesome stability and performance .
- In Dev Settings, delete three types of animations.
- Use 2D render in Dev Settings.

How can i flash kernel.sin on locked bootloader? (sorry i only have flashed .ftf files)
hello DiKeJ Awesome developer for xperia x10 is now Xperia j also great ...........................................
Iam an old user of xperia x10 iam really enjoyed with your Roms And Gameloft games:good:
Rom with built in ZU stuff?
IDSG, sorry I'm new in XJ section and when I got that device first thing I've made was full unlock of it, so didn't know there isn't option of flashing .sin file on LBL. But still, if there's possibility, you can flash it via FlashTool in fastboot mode :>.
Aeron sagar, OH MY GOD that's sooo nice information you've followed my old closed blog, and also times when I had only X10 and started all Devs works....Jeeez, few years, wooohoo . Even times when my work wasn't only official and legal xD. Thank you buddy ^^.
nevadasaga, something like that :>.
@DiKeJ before iam coming to xda iam always on your old closed blog xperia x10i wordpress .com
Don't know what to say.....Except "THANKS" and "try DiXperia Rare" .

So this rom is only for unlocked bootloader i guess, or maybe there's another way i dont know, this is my first Sony android phone (last one was a W810i)
BTW, gavster modified a ftf file that have only stock 4.1.2 kernel, you can ask him
Using this rom. Nice one for Xperia J (31). Everything smooth and perfect.
Launcher is not good one (My Choice!).
Can I change the lockscreen wallpaper?
If possible make an update to system ui...!
Sorry for the expectation and a huge thanks this lite rom.
Welcome a new developer.
Thanks for sharing this soft-mod.

It's possible to receive an update to Jellybean 4.3 in July, so no KitKat for Xperia C.
Read here: http://hybrideon.com/good-news-for-sony-xperia-smartphones-users/
Sure, why not
I am making a 4.4 KitKat ROM for Xperia C which will have almost all features of Xperia C but will be 4.2.2 in its firmware base. Just wait for some days I will upload it soon.
Kitkat is not possible for Xperia C since its a Mediatek 6589 chipset device
hope there someone make a custom rom for kitkat..the only problem is our device bootloader locked...if there a custom rom we need a good kernel too

It is just a Stock based Custom Rom.

The chip set is not the problem. There is already Kitkat for MT6589. The problem is that XC still has a locked bootloader. That is why developers can't port Android 4.4 to the device. We don't really need Sony to bring a Kitkat update. We just need them to allow us to unlock the boot loader so that custom ROM developers can start doing what they do best.

I am wondering that did you ever try to unlock your phone?
Phone doesn't connect to pc in fastboot mode. We need Sony to allow unlock with new firmware update. It still says that " Unlock Bootloader Allowed: No " in the service menu.

Marshmallow 6.0.1 8/03/16 ASOP D2203

Code:
*** Disclaimer
This software is without warranty and

if it blows up, bricks or starts a zombie apocalypse.
I am a developer BUT I am not a kernel/android rom dev!
Pure AOSP Marshmallow
This all started because I wanted to get my wife a cheap android phone that would stay up to date with the latest android. A cheap phone with SD storage and Marshmallow seemed like a great combination hence the E3. Sony has been great at supporting the developer community by providing Marshmallow binaries and working on open source components.
I am providing this rom in my spare time and all of what I have done can be done by anyone with AOSP code. Any changes I make I will endeavour to release to github should I stop developing this rom.

Guide to flashing
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img --> if it doesn't work first time
If you are having booting issues flash the cache image as well.
you also probably want the newest recovery of TWRP or CWM
repo with all the kernel patches I added to the E3 if someone wants to build it for themselves
https://github.com/mikey0000/kernel-patches-for-xperia-E3
Changelog
Code:
[B]21/03/2016[/B]
boot image update
new unified display driver with flamingo specific fixes for display not turning on (seems to affect some devices worse than others)
19/03/2016
6.0.1 Release - updated boot image should get rid of display issues. Updated system image with security patches
New releases are in the downloads section and dated.
8/03/2016
6.0.1 Release, thank you all for waiting, stock build first. I really need to learn how to do nice release notes..
updated blobs which should mean a more stable build. Also we are getting closer to getting a working camera.
17/11/2015
Two new system builds
with modem files and one without
25/11/2015
Phone has arrived in the country should receive it soon
this will mean I can continue work on this device, I cannot just take my partners phone and mess with it unfortunately ;-D
26/11/2015
Phone arrived, have got a working system image, am uploading a backup from twrp now.
26/11/2015
Yay I have a working system.img for you all to flash and I put some extra effort to add a nice boot animation
I have also added the stock kernel(boot.img) as it seems to be more stable than erikcas one at the moment.... possibly
I've also attached the bootanimation should you want to use it on stock or whatever. Is not mine, can't remember the person who made, it, was posted to reddit/r/android if I find it again I'll attribute it.

New boot.img with improved io performance, you should see significant improvements if you've experienced lag. Thanks goes to @vinay for his work on the flamingo kernel. One small change removes CRC checking which improves performance by up to 30%

Hi Guys am in the process of producing a new kernel and ROM with ZRAM support. Hoping to get something in your hands soon.

Hi guys,
I've brought my partner an E3 and compiled marshmallow for it from ASOP, I will post links as soon as I can.
Anyone game to test?
As usual, the usual disclaimers apply. I won't be blamed if it does anything weird.
Thanks guys

It makes a tutorial on installing via please ASOP ? :crying:
can this apply to D2202?
yes, this will better if you tell us for what variant of E3 in this Marshmallow thread
Will it work on D2212??? Which is your variant???
I have downloaded all the img files. Give step wise tutorial for flashing. What is the ramdisk.img and ramdisk-recovery.img and how to flash them???
Ramdisk is probably kernel. One without and one with recovery. Everything is flashable from fastboot
Okay, means this rom will work on D2212 /D2202 as they don't have seperate recovery partition
OK i´m downloading it i will write here and post screens if you want

system.img is too large ...
Maybe for new bootloader? If i good remember for E3 here was 2 bootloader types
Can you please create a quick installation guide and/or requirements (bootloader), i will be pleased and please can you tell us the bugs
Do i need to flash ramdisk OR ramdisk-recovery OR recovery OR all of them??? I am confused
this is no gonna boot at all. were is kernel?
and sony upload stuff for compiling rom,s for lte varriant,s so test it on d2203.
and system.img is bigger than our system partition it could mean you compiled rom for a different device.

Sorry uploading kernel now. I followed the sony developer world instructions for the D2203 variants
http://developer.sonymobile.com/kno...aosp-marshmallow-for-unlocked-xperia-devices/
please be nice this is my first attempt at supplying a rom. Am re-compiling again as I think your right I misread and compiled for the D5503 instead of D2203, I don't have the device yet as I am waiting for it to be delivered.
I have messed around with building roms before but haven't handed them out.
Again for D2203 and not for D2212/D2202. I think i must throw this phone, nothings gonna happen.
