Touch screen barely responds when on call - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
Today I experienced a very odd issue with the touchscreen when in a call. I had to call some helpdesk to help me solve some issue with one of my subscriptions. During the call I had to choose options from a menu, so I switched to keypad. When prompted by the answering machine to put in a number I had a hard time doing that. It took me like 5 tries to get the touchscreen to respond to my input. Also I noticed that the 'Home' software button didn't work. Back button did work. Have any of you experienced this weird behaviour?

this can be software bug
to make sure it s software or touch panel problem > Repair Firmware by PC companion app.
however u can test touch panel by using Xperia Diagnostic (Setting > About > Diagnostic)
if problem remains then take it to service center to replace ur device because faulty touch panel
:good:

Nothing wrong with the touch screen, it's only a problem during phone calls. I have this too; makes voicemail pin number entry tedious.

Problem with "End Call" key..

I'm using "Dutty's TouchFlo Rom 2 Final" on my tilt, but am facing problem with call end key. It doesn't respond during call and even in sleep mode...
I installed Tilt keyboard fix but no success..
Any help would be appreciated..
Regards..
I tried original ATT ROM... I think its hardware problem... coz when I press repeatedly it works... Can anyone help me out or tell me any solution..
Function design issue!
It is a design issue. To end a call you must either press the End Call (Hang-Up) button twice or press and hold on it. From a design stand point, this would prevent inadvertent hanging up on your caller while holding onto the phone and just clicking the hang-up button by mistake. At least that is what I was told by HTC.
Thank you so much asfoor. But sometimes i just end call with a single click and some time I have to press hard to end the call, same is when it goes to sleep mode...
I don't have that issue on the TyTN II. If it happens with different ROMs, then it's a hardware issue -- probably something in the contacts area.
it means i have to open it

HTC Touch Pro picks the call automatically

My HTC Touch Pro pick the call during the time when I move it out from my pocket during it rings. Sometimes in my pocket it picks the call automatically when someone called me and I am totally unaware of that call..
Is there any way to stop this... Please help
htc touch pro picks the call automatically
WHOO HOO!!!!! I am not the only one that this has happened to! I thought it was because it had the "touch screen" too sensitive
-rastlin
Then is there any way to avoid this.
Because this is ridiculous that call picked up automatically which you don't want to pick .
RIGHT!!! the only way i found to deal with this issue is to set the screen sensitity for a higher setting
-rastlin
How can I change the screen sensitivity to resolve this issue.
There's something in the options
I'm not sure if you can follow me because i have a german version, but there is an option.
At personal/phone (the phone icon) go to the very right.
There is an option to answer without pressing a button.
Does it help?
Actually, i don't have any problems with the sensitivity, because the phone goes to standby and the only way to reactivate it is pushing the on-button...
When in sleep-mode the phone reacts to calls as it should.

Irritating Touch Screen Issues

For the last several weeks, I've been having problems with my touch screen.
It will have lots of times when it doesn't register touch, like when I'm typing, scrolling, or when trying to pull down the quick settings/notification bar, it takes several tries. Also, when I set the phone flat it won't hardly register any touch at all.
I have tried the following to try and resolve it:
- complete factory reset
- changed launchers and keyboards
- making sure screen is clean/fingers aren't cold etc
- changing the long press settings for the phone
Anyone else experiencing these problems? I'm so frustrated, and I'm planning on calling Verizon to see about getting a replacement. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Had the exact same issue as you and got a replacement and every single issue went away.
Unfortunately I had a defective unit just like yours it was way more apparent when the phone was laid flat on the table and you attempt to make touches
Fortunately I was lucky enough to be within my 14 day return window.. If you're not then it looks like a warranty repair unfortunately.

Screen Problems

I have this problem that, whenever I press the power button to turn on the screen, I have to swipe twice in order to unlock the phone. I turned on "Show Touches" in the dev menu and it shows that my XA thinks that there is a touch already on the lockscreen so I have to touch it once to get it to realize that it isn't bring touched so I can then unlock the screen with a second touch.
I've also encountered an issue when swiping down from the top to get the notification menu to pull down but it freaks out and jumps around until the third swipe to get it to come down.
Anybody else have this problem or even just a workaround?
I'm on 33.2.A.3.81. and I'm unable to update.
Battery is also crap without Stamina Mode on too.

Do you use glass protector?
You can you test the touchscreen w/o the glass protector.
settings > about phone > diagnostics > test > test the touch screen
With the battery Unfortunately it is true that the battery is not a super long lasting device, but with moderate use of the device(not stressing it) the battery last me through out the day.

I don't use any protectors at all.
And, for some reason, there isn't a "diagnostics" under "about phone" in the settings.
The battery drain is weird because it can drain really quickly (with verrrrrry little use, literally just turning it on every hour to check the time).
If you want to test your touchscreen, you can open diagnostics by press *#*#7378423#*#* in phone app.
Hope this help! but I never faced this problem before, better check with Sony service.

For some reason, it checks out fine. It just acts weird like in the op only at the lock screen.

Does root still work with the latest update?
And trying to update via Flashtool doesn't work, don't know why.

You can use Flashtool to update your device after root and use the included Xperifirm to download the firmware.

download the lastest update for your device(depend on your phone .model )and follow instructions

No solution just yet for me even updated to Nougat 7.0 update through flashtool. I think I'll just break down and send it in to Sony soon but I'm exploring other options before I do that.

This is called Ghost Touch. I read you don't use any kind of protectors so it is a hardware problem and you can't fix it with software repair. If you have warranty use it, if not you will need to open it and remove connectors and put them back. Most of time that will solve problem, but my advice is to send it to service (there is electricity problems from you and all other things that you can screw up if you are not careful). You can try to google for more informations, but mostly you will end up with what I wrote you.
Edit: Because you have that problem, phone thinks you are using your screen whole time and it never goes to sleep could be a problem for a battery drain.

Home button Vibration

Has anyone experienced that at random times the home button continuously vibrate on each soft touch until you turn the screen off and back on.
It's not application related since it happens when you exit the application and close them via the recent app button.
I really hope it's a software bug and not a hardware related issue. I haven't been able to replicate it either.

Turn "vibration feedback" off
This has been frustrating for me too as I am used to the Recent and Back keys to vibrate when pressed ( like on the s7 s6 s5 etc....)
Well... I just read your post again. Not sure if Im on the same page as you... but just in case I shall post this anyways
Sorry I forgot to mention that Vibration feedback is off.
I have that problem. No idea how to fix
Nope, and I even have vibration enabled.
