Hello to everyone,
I'm writing for a friend who has a big problem with TeamViewer:
"I'm a 19 yers old boy, who is affected by a rare degenerative genetic disease that forces me to stay 24/7 lying, and allows me to move only the index of the left hand, that I use to move the touchpad on my laptop.
Yesterday, I've updated my Android smartphone (an LG Nexus 5) to the new 5.0 version "Lollipop", but the remote control of the TeamViewer Quick Support app, which is foundamental to me for using my smartphone, does not work anymore. The app cannot connect to my phone, and it keeps the "connecting" word on the screen without any effects.
I state that the notebook software and the app, are up to date to their last stable version. In addition the laptop mounts the Windows 8.1 O.S.
I please the staff of TeamViewer, or anyone who can help me to solve this problem, to make compatible the app, or give me a solution.
I'm not able to use the smartphone without the remote control, and without smartphone i'm more disabled than i already am.
Thank you,
Mattia."

Hi guys,
I was frustrated to find out that I was not able to connect my newly bought bluetooth keyboard. I could pair it within Bluetooth settings, but it always shows "Paired but not connected".
Even more frustrating is that the developers of apps which allow for a working connection to the keyboard are asking around 10 USD for the app.
I don't care about any features like shortcut keys and such. I just need a connected keyboard.
I decided to write an app which exactly does just this. For free, as it should be!
Description
-------------
A service which connects your bluetooth keyboard device.
Android 2.3 has support for HID devices but is not able to connect bluetooth keyboard devices correctly (yet).
This service automates the connection to your keyboard.
There are no extra features like key mappings a.s. (yet)
WARNING
---------------
This application needs superuser permissions!
You can find this app in Google Market. Search for "easyconnect"
BTW If anyone finds any bugs, or inability to connect a certain device, please let me know the details and I will work on a fix.
Thanx for sending logs, I fixed a number of issues:
- No longer scanning every 15 seconds. Instead it monitors connection state.
- Connection now is event driven. Device nearby will connect it.
- added notification of device connection
- Preventing Android from closing the service after a certain time.
Keep sending bug reports guys!
Compatible keyboard devices (from user comments):
- iGo Stowaway XTBT01
- CVDH-A66 Mini Bluetooth Keyboard for Smartphones, iPad, iPhone, PS3, More
- Apple Bluetooth keyboard
- Freedom i-Connex Mini
- Broadcom Keyboard Device (German keyboard with annoyingly positioned connect button which needs a toothpick to be pressed)
Latest update:
Finally got some time to work on stability.
Let me know if you have troubles getting it to work for you.
Working on keymaps ;-) as well
Fixed a FC on startup after installation
Greetz,
Mike
Wow this is perfect! Thanks so much!
Previously I had a shortcut to bluetooth settings on my home screen to try and connect as quick as possible, but this is 50 times better. I don't have to enter any stupid pins and make sure I press the pairing button at the right time.
I did have one little hang and lag which finished with a force close. But all good nonetheless.
I'm using a mini bluetooth keyboard with a N1 running CM6.1.1 btw which I typed this message with.
5 stars on the market
Edit: Wait, so as long as you're using this app, you dont need a ROM that supports Bluetooth HID devices? As long as your phone is rooted, anyone can use this?
If so, hats off to you.
For as far as I can see anyone can use this, because in a way, the bluetooth stack is actually available for Human Interface Devices in Android starting at 2.1 update 1 if I'm correct.

Yeah but i experienced something different. I just got my phone from a Samsung Repair center because i kinda bricked it while upgrading to froyo so i had them upgrade it. Since i was already in a mall, i decided to visit a powermac store to try out the apple bluetooth keyboard that is reported to be working with the Galaxy S froyo update. Unfortunately i was not able to detect the bluetooth keyboard, and made a fool of myself because the apple guy that was assisting me didn't believe at first that a mobile phone was able to use a bluetooth keyboard (yeah, he didn't know that the iphone 4 that they were selling was compatible with the bluetooth keyboard.. i didn't tell him though..)
so maybe this app might work.. im going to try it out when i return to that powermac store..
The code is there, but it's not complete. It doesn't connect hid devices by itself yet. My app takes care of that. good luck trying it.
I noticed some bug already, so there will be an update very soon.
I can't find this app on the marketplace when i search for easyconnect, how did you guys find it..?
Edit.,
Found it here., www appbrain.com/app/bluetooth-keyboard-easyconnect/net.mybesttools.btkbservice
Does this with with a Sense phone too?
thanks
This is phenomenal! Thanks so much. Using with a iGo/ThinkOutside Stowaway ultra-slim keyboard and it works great. I've used BlueKeyboard, but it has a number of issues: frequent force-close errors, easily-accidentally-triggered switches into Japanese mode. This is much easier and more reliable! Thank you!
Thanks its great
Thanks! But should really be supported by default in android and without root! Hopefully google will fix this in a new version of android.

Sent from my ComBadge
You'll have to test it to find out. ;-)
Latest update v0.3 :
- no longer scanning for bluetooth devices. Instead it checks for connectivity with the pheripheral device directly trough a socket connection.

Hi,
Will this work with any Bluetooth device? I have the exact same problem with my cars head unit.
In Froyo it will connect if I either go into the bluetooth settings and press on the connection or if I turn bluetooth off and on.
In Gingerbread its the same as Froyo except for added annoyance it asks for the pin each time.
Thanks
Edit: Just tried it and it doesnt work, would it be hard to make a version for phone / media profiles?
A device as such is not a Human Input Device. As you can see A2DP is supported starting at cupcake. http://source.android.com/porting/bluetooth.html
If you want the ability to wirelessly stream music, the head unit must support Bluetooth A2DP. Currently, the majority of Bluetooth car stereos only support the Handsfree profile, which only allows you to make and receive phone calls via the head unit.

It will not come up in the Market
That's all i get when i search for "Easyconnect"
A quote from Android Developers:
How Filters Work in Android Market
Android Market uses the filter restrictions described below to determine whether to show your application to a user who is browsing or searching for applications on a given device. When determining whether to display your app, Market checks the device's hardware and software capabilities, as well as it's carrier, location, and other characteristics. It then compares those against the restrictions and dependencies expressed by the application itself, in its manifest, .apk, and publishing details. If the application is compatible with the device according to the filter rules, Market displays the application to the user. Otherwise, Market hides your application from search results and category browsing.
You can use the filters described below to control whether Market shows or hides your application to users. You can request any combination of the available filters for your app — for example, you could set a minSdkVersion requirement of "4" and set smallScreens="false" in the app, then when uploading the app to Market you could target European countries (carriers) only. Android Market's filters would prevent the application from being visible on any device that did not match all three of these requirements.
A filtered app is not visible within Market, even if a user specifically requests the app by clicking a deep link that points directly to the app's ID within Market. All filtering restrictions are associated with an application's version and can change between versions. For example:
•If you publish a new version of your app with stricter restrictions, the app will not be visible to users for whom it is filtered, even if those users were able see the previous version.
•If a user has installed your application and you publish an upgrade that makes the app invisible to the user, the user will not see that an upgrade is available. So it means you have a device with a Android version which is not compatible.
I could lower the minimum version for you so you can at least try the app.
I cannot lower it any further then SDK version 5 because it lacks some needed functionality in the bluez stack.
I found this on appbrain and i see it says android 2.2 and up.
My Samsung Galaxy S Epic is running a stock 2.1 rom. Thanks for the offer but that's totally up to you if you want to let the app on to all the 2.1 phones. It just sounds cool and something useful to have installed. I don't have a bluetooth keyboard

Thanks for replying, my head unit does support A2DP and it works fine once I manually initiate a connection. The problem is it doesn't connect automatically the same way your Bluetooth keyboard doesn't connect on its own.
[Updated version available]
Guys,
I just upped v0.5. Let me know your experiences.
The minSDK version is lowered to make it available to android versions 2.0 and up. I was not able to test that, so please let me know if it does/doesn't.
It doesn't seem to be working for me anymore.
The first version worked but drained battery like crazy.
With the newest version from the market, I turn BT on, put keyboard into discoverable and nothing happens.
0.1 would connect after both those steps...
i have tried google and was surprised to not find anything. all i could find was a way to control phone via usb, and a whole lot of ways to control the pc via the phone. both are unacceptable. i need to control the phone from my computer via bluetooth or wifi. i am too poor to afford a wireless speaker system and this will accomplish the same thing (for my needs at least).
is there a known app, or some other way, i can control my phone from the computer wirelessly? the only thing i really need as an option is to be able to control playing music. if there is an app specific for that, awesome. if there are apps that offer more control, even better! but at a minimum, media player control is needed..
thanks for your time.
Just tried this out tonight on my g1 for fun. Pretty much can do anything on the phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748914
Its free in the market.
thanks. that is pretty nifty. unfortunately there is that issue with US phone where you can connect directly to it.. makes it pretty slow. the changes happen on my phone pretty quickly (within 1 second usually) after input, but the update on the computer is pretty delayed.
this will do for now. if anyone has an alternative, please let me know!
Our new app, VMLite VNC Server, does exactly that, so you can control phones from a PC, this provides you an external keyboard and mouse, and you can view your device on the PC's screen:

hey all, I use my nexus 5 as a hotspot for my windows tablet. when im connected to be nexus 5s wifi I cant download any apps from the windows app store. but every other data related program on the tablet works fine. now if im connected to a traditional wifi router then the appstore will download the apps. I have been on the phone with Microsoft tech support for over 2 hours trying to trouble shoot the issue. They even logged on via remote desktop and still could not find a solution. so this is my last ditch effort to solve this problem.. bring up to the great minds of XDA.
I am using windows 8.1 non rt
Odd one.
Any add blocking / altered hosts files on your Nexus?
Only thing I can think of.
May be your account is not update..
I use XMouse - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stripe1.xmouse - for remote control of my laptop from my phone. Linux-only, but windows versions of similar programs exist, of course.
I haven't found anything similar for smartwatches. In principle it'd only be useful as a mousepad, and a small one at that, but I think it'd be cool. Has anyone found anything similar?

Well I think we people are trying to do so much with these smartwatches that are not intented for. I can not see any use for what you are describing especially practicality of it. First of all, any app that you use on the watch is actually running on the phone. So if you want to remotely control your PC, just use the phone itself. Using your watch for that purpose will be extremely slow and would be much of an hassle rather than convenient. The touchscreen on the watch is nowhere close to the sensitivity of the touchsreen of any modern day smartphone. That is another issue. If you are really keen on using it as a mousepad only, without seeing anything on the watch, maybe than it maybe faster but than again it has to first communicate with the phone than the phone will communicate with the PC so again there will be hell of a lag...
But my answer to your question is I don't know any app that can do that at the moment.
It depends on what you wanna do
Well, that might answer your question. As far as I know, no "mouse" exists on watch but that doesn't mean you can't control your PC with your watch.
You might use Unified Remote, tasker and it's smartwatch's version. Unified remote is an app that enables you to control your PC wirelessly from your phone (for example, you can play or pause windows media center, launch any program...), very useful and customizable with paid version. Then, tasker is a really really useful app (maybe a bit hard to understand at first) with which you'll be able to activate only few options of your apps. Tasker live extension shows these options on the watch. I've never tried myself but give it a try and let us know.
I don't know if it's clear enough but, for example, I use sonos system (those are speakers connected to wifi that you control with a special app on your phone), using tasker and tasker extension, I can control sonos (play, pause, skip, volume,...) using my watch.
Of course, as the guy above me said, this will never as easy and fast as on your phone. However there are apps that are intended for controlling your PC.
PS : excuse me for my not-that-good-english.
I'm well aware of unified remote and tasker, I've bought tasker since years ago.
The problem is that there's no real way to translate mousepad-type movements to instructions. I have an idea using multiple hotzones in a UCCW widget so that the further away the touch is from the center of the screen, the further the mouse moves. Like a touch nib, the lenovo type.
In answer to the usefulness, why not use it to remote control the phone, not the pc? Android devices can be fairly big nowadays. Mine is 7.7 inches, if I had a 10 inch tab I can see wanting to put it up on the table, lean back, and remote control it.

you can already do this, buy logitec wireless mouse and keyboard with the unify usb dongle, I have this for my laptop and it works on my Z1, I have a usb adaptor with a full size usb socket on the end and micro usb on the other - plugging into my Z1 gives full control using the mouse and keyboard

I'm on a quest to find an app that can REMOTE CONTROL my phone like a mouse or track pad...and as soon as I find it or build it...I will let everyone know about it. FOR THOSE OF YOU good for nothing, pessimist, dream killers, lack of vision, non-dreamers ...I say this...SOME OF US advanced business, guru, tech-geeks have projector phones or need to do presentations and have a phone machine that can do it. Besides my 2013 retina macbook pro or my i7 HP laptop, which im sure could do a fine job presenting or showing presentations through its screen or projector (attachment), I prefer to minimize my load of carrying stuff, specially when I ride my R6 to work meetings. So Mr. ngoonee YOU KEEP on searching and as soon as I find this coveted app I will let you know. Cheers

I guess I am one of those dream killers you mention. First of all, I am not trying to discourage anyone trying to do anything.
You can for sure use smartwatch as a presentation controller with buttons like the Logitech ones. It will work. But for practicality, I simply don't see sw2 being used as a mousepad. It is just my opinion and you don't have to agree with me.
So good luck with your search/app development.

hello, in https://community.teamviewer.com/English/kb/articles/98985-android-host and then https://community.teamviewer.com/En...rers-for-remotely-controlling-android-devices, are they saying Google pixel phones are not available for unattended remote control using the Host app? I had thought it would have worked to show Android superiority over iOS. I guess I was wrong. Thx. Need to help parents control their P7P. If this just doesn't work, it gives me greater incentive to switch back to iPhone 15 pro max and Apple Watch. For example, also learnt Pixel Watch doesn't support fall detection in unsupported countries.

Also -- I just checked right now -- I did not use the "host" app to get it working...

So....you're going to switch your parents back to an iPhone 15 pro max (because it's their device that isn't working with Teamviewer host)?
Or you're looking for an incentive to switch, yourself, because (maybe among other things) the Pixel 7 can't do a single app like Teamviewer host (yet, for all we know)?
If that's the case, I hope you enjoy your iPhone 15 pro max so you can run Teamviewer host then....
My late father, would go to bed EVERY night by 9pm...something he did since I was a kid.
(Of course he got up at 5am and make all sorts of noise, but that's another story).
I was his "computer" mechanic, so every once in a while I would remote into his computer
to do housekeeping. Make sure the recycle bin was empty, update software etc.
One night, around 9:30, I remoted into his PC, opened up his browser, and it closed in a couple
seconds. His internet connection sometimes wasn't the greatest, so I figured I closed it.
Opened it again, and it closed again...THEN the phone rang. He said his computer was acting
up. So I played along. Oh really? Yes! Programs are opening by themselves, I close them and
they open again. After laughing I told him what I was doing. His answer was ok smarta**!
I started laughing again and said it was after 9pm, what are you doing up?
(He was big into vinyl records, big band recordings and was always making tapes for peope)
He was taping something and was still up.
After that encounter, I would wait until around 11pm on Friday...I knew he wouldn't be up at
that hour!

I am saying iPhone iOS is even worse regarding the limitations because in attended mode, iOS still can't control upon confirmation by the guest. However, given unattended is not achieveable at all with pixel 7 pro, or even upcoming 8 series, I am thinking to abandon Android
