Consumer Cellular moto G help - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, just got my son a moto g but it's on Consumer Cellular. Michael is to unlock it and use it on AT&T. I thought the phone came unlocked but apparently it does not because it's looking for a cold when I put my AT&T SIM card in there. Does anybody know the easiest way to unlock this device?? I know it would be much easier if I just purchased the phone through AT&T but the fact that I'm saving half the price sounds very attractive to me when I'm giving the phone to an 11 year old! Any help on this would be much appreciated

You have to purchase the unlock code online to get it unlock.

As lcc014 said. You need to buy an unlock code for the phone. They can be bought from eBay to dozens of other sites and they can range in price from $2 to $20. I used unlockscout for my consumer cellular moto g. If you get your unlock code, and it is four strings of letters and numbers. Make sure to only enter the second set of just numbers into the phone.

D2G Unlock at VZW Support

I bought a D2G at eBay. I love it but I live in Hungary and I can't unlock it. Can anybody unlock it for me in USA by VZW Support if I pay every cost of unlocking (and plus money for helping)? It has clean ESN. I can send it to USA if it's required.
Please somebody help me!

You can buy a TurboSim off ebay item #200539432676 and it should work.
TurboSIM
Thank you for your advice, but I read it has few problems with D2G, so I want to unlock it by VZW.
send it back to d seller to unlock it
I tried it
I asked the seller about that but she refused it.
The device has to be active on a Verizon account that's in good standing. And the line it's unlocked on won't be able to unlock another phone for 10 monhts. I don't think you'll get too many takers on your request. TurboSim is probably your best bet?
Unfortunately
Unfortunately, the situation is bad. But I really pay extra cost for unlocking so if someone can help me to take extra cash, please send PM me.
I think I will order a TurboSIM, it's very cheap so I can try it.
Anyway, I got from UnlockCarrier.com 3 codes. 2 codes of them are 8-digit and they're absolutely wrong. The third one is 10-digit and the phone is thinking so much if I type it, but then the phone refuses it. Has someone got experience about 10-digit code?
The code should be 8 digits.

did her posting indicated the phone is unlock n can be use world wide?
or it is locked phone?
ask her to call on ur behalf to get the unlock code, provide her with d IMEI n IMEID
I can help, pm me..
Thanks guys
haroldz123: I ask her but she refused it again but she said she can refund my money if I send back the phone.
wirelessprofessional: I sent a PM!
"A hope? A chance!"
Hi everybody,
wirelessprofessional can't help me but he tried it (Thanks for it).
But the seller wrote a message to me on eBay if I want to send back the phone she refund my money. I was thinking so much on this offer, and I want to accept it but she wrote another message. In message she wrote that she may can help because she started to work part-time at VZW.
Can someone tell me, would it work if a verizon smartphone user got the esn for the phone, activated it on their line online for matthewKER while he still has the phone, then call verizon from some land line or still active phone and ask them to unlock the phone for a valid reason, then get the code, give it to matthewKER, he unlocks it, then reconnect your own smartphone back to your verizon line? I assume he wouldn't get service or be able to call or anything given that the phone is in hungary, though if it can that's the only risk I see in doing this.
Very interesting...
This situation is very, very interesting... After I sent a video to wirelessprofessional about my bad codes to refund his and my money (because he got same wrong codes), he sent an e-mail. He wrote in the e-mail that he activated my phone on his account and he got an unlock code from VZW. And there is surprise: this code doesn't work, too.
But it isn't end of the story... The seller is also trying to take an unlock code from VZW (she said she works part-time at VZW now) and she wrote me different things than wirelessprofessional. She wrote that she need the pre-installed SIM-card number to unlock method, and today she wrote that the assistant at VZW Global Support wanted to do this method step-by-step with her, but the phone is in Hungary so she ask the assistant how does she do it at home, but assistant said her that call him again if she can use the phone while she speaking on the other phone.
My advice if you want to buy D2G outside USA: DON'T TRY TO BUY LOCKED D2G. To buy an unlocked one with bad ESN is better choice than buy a locked one with clean ESN...
ben7337: Thanks for your post, I hope someone can unlock my phone finally.
same problem, who can help pm please
Santiss, I had a similar problem and ended up selling the phone and buying and unlocked one. I een got the unlock code straight fro ma Verizon Wireless representative and it still didn't work. I initially thought it was because I had to be within reach of the Verizon network in order for the code to work but that was not the case; the code simply didn't work.
My advice? Just get rid of the phone (sell it, return it...) and get one that's already unlocked. The unlock codes are apparently a matter of luck and not a safe bet.
I have unlocked two D2Gs myself online. I know of 3 others that were unlocked using the same site. I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS SITE! I just have used them myself for several different phone models and they always work perfectly.
One of my D2Gs is a very recent new model, the other one was an early phone, both unlocked fine.
I strongly suggest that people try this site before giving up.
mobileunlockstoredotcom
I think it was around the $10USD mark the last time I looked. I got my codes within an hour.
Both my D2Gs are used worldwide on GSM networks and are behaving well. I just did the edit of the radio image that should remove the band locks when I am next in the US in a couple of weeks, that should be interesting!

[Q] Flash Verizon Moto G to Republic Wireless?

Ok so the Moto G is rooted and bootloader unlock capable, there's ROM dumps of the VZW and RW roms, and both Republic Wireless and Verizon are CDMA, but I can't seem to find any hard data on whether or not it's possible to flash a Verizon Moto G to Republic?
There's certainly no guides for how to do it, the only guide on this forum is flashing a Boost Moto G to Pageplus...
The reason I ask is because there are a ton of Verizon prepaid Moto G's on Ebay for $75 apiece, which is literally half off the price of ordering from RW.
Has anyone done this? Is it possible? Is it just a matter of unlocking the phone, flashing the RW rom and modem, and activating the phone on RW?
I've done a ton of roots and flashes of various devices before, but I've never flashed a carrier-locked device to another carrier - I'm not scared to do it, I just want to know if it's possible at present. I know it's theoretically possible, but without someone confirming they've done it I'm leery of dropping $70 on this phone, though I'd really love to save $70 on it since I'm scrambling to replace my wife's phone after she managed to waterlog another phone less than 3 months after the previous one...
(And yes, I've searched this and other xda forums for the answer to this and turned up nothing concrete...)

There are probably no guides because the bootloader on the Verizon model is currently the only one that cannot be officially unlocked. I say "officially" because, apparently, there's a "Chinese guy" on these forums that you can pay to get you a code to unlock it. I bought one from Amazon (when it was $70) to use as a WiFi only device (aka media player), but I found out that same night that the VZW model is the only one with the locked down bootloader. Needless to say, I refused the package, and it went right back to where it came from. I knew that price was too good to be true. It's cheaper because the VZW model is junk (at least in my opinion).

Oh I thought the unlock posted here was not an "official" unlock and therefore would work on any Moto G because it was more or less a "hack", was I mistaken about that?
What about flashing a Boost over to RW or some other variant? I can get a Boost Moto G on ebay for about $100, so that's still $50 cheaper than ordering from RW.

Well, before you are able to flash anything onto your phone, you need to have an unlocked bootloader. In order to do that, you have to register with Motorola, and then go through a couple steps to get the unlock code for your device. This is so they can keep track of you unlocking your bootloader because it voids your warranty (in the US at least). This is the first step in all the guides I've seen for rooting this device. Then after that, you can flash a custom recovery, root, etc. If you Google "motorola unlockable bootloader", you can click on the link that takes you to the official Motorola page that shows which of their devices can have their bootloader unlocked.
As far flashing Boost to RW, I couldn't tell ya. I'm not familiar with either one of those. If it were possible, I would imagine it wouldn't be the easiest thing to do.
Since Boost and RW are both Sprint-MVNO's, I would think it would be a pretty easy straight forward flash. But I haven't heard of anyone doing it. Does RW offer "bring your own device" ?

Sort of...they only have 2 phones that you can use, and you MUST use their ROM on the phones since it includes special controls for making calls over wifi when the signal is available. One of the 2 phones you can buy from them is the Moto G, and their ROM has been dumped by another forum member here. You can activate service directly from the phone itself, and they do allow reselling phones and activating used phones, so in theory you could buy a cheap Moto G somewhere, unlock the bootloader, flash the RW firmware onto it, and then activate.
But nobody has actually confirmed whether or not this works, and I'm not really in a position financially at the moment to plunk down the money to experiment like this.
To add another layer of complexity on top of everything, the Verizon Moto G's are the only ones that you can't unlock the bootloader on (yet), but I'm going to ignore that hurdle for now - I'll get a Boost phone or something instead if that ends up being the only block.
Does anyone have a spare Moto G that they want to test this on (or could send me...?) I think RW has a 30 day guarantee, so even if you signed up for service with them to test cellula+3G data you could cancel without paying any money.
Though I suspect I may have to be the guinea pig on this, but again, I'm not really in a position to pay for this right now. I wouldn't mind waiting but my wife needs a phone soon.

Did anyone figure this out?
I would like to use a Verizon Moto G on Republic Wireless.
I'm also interested in this, but doing it the other way around: flashing a non-Republic Wireless firmware onto a Moto G XT1031 which came from Republic Wiress / with RepublicWireless Lollipop 5.1 firmware and locked Motorola bootloader. So that I can use my phone with other CDMA-based, Sprint MVNOs (i.e. RingPlus, Ting, Tello etc).
I am actually switched over to RingPlus (cancelled the RW service). With the stock RW XT1031_falcon_cdma 5.1 firmware, the phone handles inbound voice calls well. The only issue is obviously the dial out voice calls - RW's own freaking software app intercepts my dial out call and will reject it, arguing that I have no active RW service...

Canadian idol 3 sim locked

Hi just purchased my idol 3 from koodo in Canada it was locked and was wondering if anyone has a good place for unlocking? Thanks
If it's showing sim locked you should return it. Alcatel would have no reason to lock it since they are not selling the phone via a carrier....if you ended up getting one someone fiddled with previously it's possible they managed to lock it....you won't find any place setup to unlock the idol 3 since it's intended to be sold unlocked.
In Canada they only sell with carriers. Telus koodo and bell. I put my wife's rogers sim in my koodo phone and asked for a unlock code. Even when you go to purchase a phone on alcatel website you can only purchase from the cell companies in Canada that offer the phone. We cannot purchase from Alcatel.
There might be an unlocking company online that will charge to unlock it. Or a company that will ship a US version to CA.

Other canadians here have identified their phones as the 6045i (when everyone was uploading their stock firmware) so it's the same model as USA.
If the Canadian is locked, then it would still be beneficial to get a US version or paying for an unlock code or service.
Thanks for the help guys. Sucks that the Canadian model is locked. But not surprised. Lol
Def locked when bought from a Canadian carrier. They lock everything except the nexus phones...even when bought at full price.
I'd try cell unlocker or some other 3rd party unlock service. Telus/Koodo charges $50 for an unlock code.

For that much would be cheaper to purchase in usa...have shipped to friend in usa then reshipped to canada....can then flash the stock canadian firmware we have online.
Yeah, Canada's wireless is borked... The CRTC did change all the rules and did force the carriers to provide a way to unlock in a contract and immediately unlock when you purchase the device in full, the only problem is, the morons forgot to add the part where the carriers should have to do it for free, when you own the device. So, now they can still charge... looks a lot like it did before, with just more pointless words in the act.
The free part was unlikely to be an oversight. It was probably the most requested part of the code of conduct. They stopped short of free and price controls when it came to unlocks.
Bit of a shame, I think if a contract has been fulfilled, they should do it for free.
At least there's a trend lately of affordable high performance phones... Hopefully that leads to fewer phones bought on contract up here. Many normal customers just aren't aware if the "device balance" mark up, and plan mark ups. Better off paying outright.

unlock code lg stylo T-mobile

hi Lg stylo H 631 t-mobile
ihave code for unlock network but when inter 2945#*631# show nothing
try device unlock for t-mobile to unlock till me is faild
how how can enter code to unlock ??
i have to code NCK & SPCK
You should have an app to request a carrier unlock. If the T-Mobile and the MetroPCS devices are essentially the same I don't see why this would not be the case. My MetroPCS LG G Stylo has the app on the home screen in the folder which contains all of my MetroPCS apps. I've actually been fighting with support about getting mine unlocked prior to the 90 day policy for use when I am in Germany.
I have problems unlocki ng my phone i bought someone off craigslist with a lock. On it cani get some help to google unlock this acct so i can activate my phone
Good luck trying to unlock the Style H631 with T-Mobile. They are a bunch of lying manipulating thieves. My mother bought the phone from T-Mobile 2 years ago, she was paying $65.00 a month ($15.00 included for phone payment). I told her to go with H2O, Cricket or AT&T, which have he best reception where we live. I told her to unlocked network her Stylo, we tried by codes by purchasing from online unlock companies, didn't work. I told her to contact T-Mobile and asked for an unlocked code since she was with them for 2 years and never miss a payment. They told her that she needed to pay the remainder of the phone in order for them to give them an unlock code. She did, it was around $120.00. At the time, they gave her a receipt and gave her a number to call. She called and told her that it can't be done because she already unlocked 2 phones in one year, and they only unlock one phone per year. It doesn't make sense, it was her first time unlocking a phone with T-Mobile, she then replied to them, if you can only unlock one phone per year, then how come it shows 2 phone in one year?
If you are with T-Mobile, you are simply out of luck, and the app to unlock is just an app that will display "device can't be unlock" or something along those lines. Best of luck.

Sm-a716u1 locked to AT&t. Please help with SIM unlock!!!

I bought my Samsung Galaxy A71 5G from a refurbished phone seller on ebay only to find out that it was locked to AT&T. I want to use the phone with boost mobile. Phone does NOT have bad ESN so I will not be in trouble for unlocking the phone but I can find literally find NO ONE to help me unlock it. EVEN FOR MONEY. Companies have gone through all the options to unlock with a code generator and still nothing. I guess the phone is too new or idk what but it's irritating af. I found a post on here years ago that helped me unlock a Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD (and other models), so I know the software has to be available somewhere. Someone please help!!!
ATT is the easiest carrier to get unlocks, if your phone meets their criteria, regardless you'll find that out here:
