Hi all, I just installed Alien Rom 4.1, did everything correctly, I'm sure, and now I can't use apps that require memory. For example, everytime I try to download something it says I have no SD card, I tried fixing permissions and giving permission via Root Browser, nothing worked. Help?

I understand, yes. This was my thought at first, however I tried to download an app to change them and there was nothing new, it stayed the same. Also, no one is complaining about this on the thread, so I must have screwed something up. Any way to fix it?
I still have this problem, bump? ...

How do I install this? My mini is sim unlocked but otherwise completely stock on 4.2.2. I've tried just renaming to update.zip and pasting to the internal storage but, while in recovery it complains of invalid operation when selecting internal storage from the menu..?

Okay, I tried that and recovery still gives back a "Invalid Operation" after selecting apply from phone storage.

I don't think you can.
You can't if it's on sd card as it doesn't need permissions. Move it to system and you can

I wanted to make a file read only, but i guess it cant be done. Thanks for the replies
just to inform anyone that may be searching for this as well, the reason it cant be done is a limitation of FAT32 which doesnt allow file permissions.

Couple of things...
1) Your /sdcard is not formatted in FAT32
2) The limitation is that Android is designed specifically to not allow you to change /sdcard permissions. /sdcard is mounted at boot with a specific set of permissions which are what the system wishes to maintain at all times, for all files.

There's an xposed module to give access to the external sd. Also on the forum are instructions on how to modify your platform.xml to do the same thing. Did you search?
Not really, because it work it with application sdcard fix

After each reboot the system go to read only. Because of that I can use the SD card...

Best way is to mod your platform.xml add media_rw... That's it.

If your sdcard is being mounted read only it's failed stability checks...you should copy your data off and reformat it (preferably on a pc and tell it to do a full format...try using fat32 instead of exfat also)....you may have some bad areas on it.
The idol 3 can be very picky about sd cards...I ended up having to go out and buy a samsung because it hated my sandisk one which has been rock steady in all other devices...the sandisk would randomly not mount at all and have to be reformatted.

Just install this app and enable it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix&hl=en
After it's ran and enabled the fix I believe you can uninstall it.
