SD card problem - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, new on this section. I didn't root (and hoped not to unless drastic situations appear) and since I didn't get the OTA update for Android 5.0, I got impatient and flashed it. It's all going well until I realise I have less storage than I am supposed to have. This is because I have two sd cards on my storage. Or as ES File Explorer says so. They re storage/emulated/0 and storage/emulated/legacy. Basically, whatever I have is duplicated and doubled. What I add or remove in one goes in the other so deleting one is not an option. Any idea on what I should do?
Thanks. I have root in case you're wondering.
EDIT: Problem is something else. Check page 2. Please help! Thanks.

Wow... Nope.. You are the first person to have ever mentioned this issue

Its not duplicated at all. 2 paths to the same location.
As you're new to this forum, please read all the sticky threads in general. This is already covered.

If that is so, then why does my storage show lesser available space than usual? Why do i "use" 8gb if i only actually used 4gb, thus taking up more of my 12.something GB?

When you flashed... Please describe your method of how you flashed

Let's say he is right. It isn't duplicated. Then is it possible for me to fill up 8GB worth of stuff into my phone? Cuz then the file managers etc. will read as 16GB which is more than the 12.55 GB I have. Therefore transfer incomplete.

Do a factory reset from the boot loader/recovery

If you have TWRP or similar, then just wipe the user data partition. Had to do it on mine as it was showing 16Gb instead of 32Gb after flashing the factory image.

Okay, I realised that its not the duplication of my storages that's the problem. It shows I use 11.7 GB when I just use 8GB. Therefore, there is 3.7GB storage taken up by an unknown source. Do I still use the method stated above?

Well? Anything can be done about this problem of mine? 3.7 GB is quite a bit of space out of my 12.55GB.

Bump. I really need help.

SD card ruined last time

So I used universal Androit. Didnt even get the chance to put anything on it yet and my 8gb sandisk card was just ruined.Kept saying format but couldnt be read.
Is it the Universal Androit root or is it just luck of the draw? I would like to root my Nexus one but not at the risk of my 16gb card I just got.
Any tips or anything?
Everybodies looking at the thread and no tips....not even a it wasnt because of the rooting??

The chances are it wasn't because of the app so is probably due to the card itself. Do you get errors whilst trying format it using a card reader?

[Q] Accidentally removed custom rom.

So I today a friend of mine deleted the zip files from my phone that had cognition and my root file on them. I've tried reloading them onto the phone's memory but my phone still won't function. It powers on (and even gives me the cognition load screen and unlock) but does not load. Please help.
I would love if someone can help me return this to factory spec instead of cognition rom. It froze too many times.
Again I'm trying to get my phone working again and factory specs would be ideal. thanks guys.
Have you tried odin one click to stock?

Yeah seriously.. have you tried anything at all mentioned in any of the 'i bricked my phone' threads here? There are a bazillion threads already that describe solutions to your particular problem, including one that's stickied if I'm not mistaken.

Wrong forum.
You would think there would be a "delete thread" option when editing your own thread. Oh well
first thing would be to post in the correct forum

Well, I am not using an external SD card at the moment, as for the internal SD, are you suggesting that I somehow remove it? I am fairly certain that it is soldered to the board.
Sorry its in the wrong forum, I generally post stuff in general all the time. Seems most people post in general when they have an issue or question. I know, at least for me, this is where I respond to most "help me" posts.
However, I shall get someone to move it.

Nand vs class 10 MicroSD

i have a 32 GB microsd card in my phone and ive just read about apps2sd (ive used it before just never fully read about how it worked
i read about it here, just google this [ext 4 or ext 3 android] its the first one
im going to set it up on my current phone and having to choose between apps2sd or apps2sd+ , i was wondering which ones actually faster on the desire s
is it the nand or the class 10 micro SD I have, and does the kernel have any impact on either two
would like multiple peoples opinion on this, and would like to know which ones people have used before + are using at the moment
Please move your post in Q&A section. Is not his place here.

[Q] I Think I May Have Recieved the Wrong Kind

Hey guys I think I'm running into a little issue, I was invited and bought my phone for almost a month ago, rooted it and flashed the Paranoid Android Beta as well as others but am on PA currently because it's pretty cool. One thing I was doing today was testing out the camera with a couple of buddies down by a lagoon and I noticed that I had run out memory. This raised questions so I checked the Storage section of the ROM and it said I had 16GB! It's weird because when I first got it I clarified if it had 64 and it did and now it's giving me this 12GB of storage after I formatted the phone. I need help, I checked other ROM's and it's giving me the same issue now. Thanks guys.
Did your phone come with a white (16GB) back cover or Sandstone Black (64GB)?
Other than that, I would suggest posting this on the official forums, probably the "Inviteshttps://forums.oneplus.net/forums/invites/" forums would be a good place.

And then flash userdata 64gb IMG in fastboot. Don't worry, your phone is still 64. If the back of your phone is sandstone then it'll be fine.
Visit the stickied threads on how to use fast boot if you're confused on how to flash the file.

Not a problem. I read about this problem in the past. http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/64-gb-storage-internal-listings-t2818560 that person had the same problem, easily fixable.
Most likely something overrode your phone to make it think you were using the 16GB variant and not the 64GB. Luckily it doesn't do any harm, just a visual misrepresentation.
